Who: Kyouko Sakura and Mami Tomoe
What: Kyouko chose poorly. Mami comes to help her.

[Kyouko had severely underestimated her quarry, and had paid the price. The Spiritomb shifter quickly turned the fight against her and only the intervention of one of her Pokémon had saved her life, at least temporarily.

Pain.

Both physical and emotional. She could barely move, and it was all she could do not to tear up as she shifted her limp arm, twisted at an unnatural angle, in order to access her warp band. Each little push caused her to wince anew, typing her message slowly. It was just two words, but it felt like it took an eternity to send the message, both due to her physical state and her reluctance to admit defeat.]

I failed.

[She sagged back against the tree she'd been sitting at the base of, glancing up at her Talonflame, keeping watch over her. She was still alive, but...why? She still couldn't kill that monster, even after becoming so strong. With a shaky sigh, she closed her eyes and waited.]

[Mami isn't sure if she really conceded. It's hard to imagine. Kyouko is nothing if not stubborn. But... she isn't heartless, either, despite how she acts sometimes.]

[She keeps hugging her, like if she lets go, she might lose her.]

...We shouldn't avoid each other, either. I miss you.

[Mami isn't quite aware of it, though, but she's glowing. A soft, slightly golden glow that emanates off her skin.]

[Stubborn, selfish, and a little foolish, for sure. Kyouko is definitely not heartless. She's always sort of regretted ditching Mami back then. She knew it had hurt the other girl considerably.

She doesn't get a chance to say anything before she realizes Mami is glowing. Well...that's interesting.]

Uh...you're glowin'.

[A little cluelessly:]

Thank you?

You're literally glowing.

[Well, there goes the mood.]

[She stares at her hand for a moment, so confused for a second that she barely registers the fact she's glowing. Then, she just gives Kyouko a look.]

...See? [sigh] You worried me so much that I evolved.

...that's underwhelming.

[It's been quite a while since Kyouko evolved herself. Hers was considerably flashier, though.]

Hmph! I think you should be touched!

[She might be teasing. A little.]

I think I've been touched enough today.

[She's not laughing.]

...I suppose so. Do you feel up to leaving? I can get you back to Union.

I'm headin' elsewhere.

[Someplace quieter.]

Do you want time by yourself?

[She frowns, still worried. But they... only halfway made amends. She doesn't know what she could possibly do.]

Yeah.

[She has some things to think about. She's a little shaky, but she manages to stand more or less on her own, using the tree as a support.]

All right. ...If you need to talk, call me. Okay?

Doubt I'll need to.

[There's a pause, but then she looks up at her patiently waiting Talonflame, whistles to him...then flickers as she teleports away somewhere.]

[After Kyouko vanishes, Mami sighs... then leans back against the tree and rubs at her face with her hand.]
