015 // action - forest shrine, verdant forest
[ action - forest shrine ]
Let's get to it.
[ Haruka is in one of her Rhyhorn racing jumpsuits with the sleeves rolled up (though not quite to the scar she got botching her portion of the Sanctuary liberation efforts). She's facing down a member of the Divine Defense Force, light on her feet and ready for anything. If they're going to keep splitting up for missions, she needs an accurate assessment of her whole team's abilities. She can't respect what she hasn't seen in person.
So she's going to try to beat the crap out of them. All of them. One by one.
Passersby are welcome to stay to observe or challenge her, though responses to the latter may vary. The Divine Defense Force, however? Had better not hold back.
Haruka won't, either. ]
[ away from the sparring ]
[ Close enough to reach Trainer telepathically but far enough that the sparring shouldn't disrupt their afternoon, Sky the Beartic has spread a (leaf-embroidered) tablecloth across a tree stump and outfitted it with a variety of goodies for an outdoor tea party. There's plates of Poffins and PokéPuffs, as well as piping hot Berry tea from a fancy china teapot - Passion the Vulpix has accompanied them, and deigned to heat some water for their tea. There's also plenty of teacups, so anyone stumbling upon Sky, Passion, and a very confused World Shaking the Rhyperior is welcome to join their quaint assembly.
A word of advice, however: the teacups (and teapot) are sized for Beartic paws. Come thirsty. ]
[ later - throughout verdant forest ]
[ As the sun sets and the cool evening air wafts in, Haruka can be found on World Shaking's back, eyes half-closed as she navigates the Rhyperior through the trees. They haven't gone on one of these runs in a while, and after the scare she gave him in the caves, he deserved a treat. And she deserves to cool her head, too. They're all right. They passed another test. A respite's been earned.
The fact that she heard a god was spotted in this area from Snor-Lord and his human friends is utter coincidence. ]

I'm like you now, obviously. Trainer told her that she would be. So. Maybe get it through your thick head...]
They seem to like one another.

World Shaking pokes Ishikawa again. He thinks about what her poke had felt like. He looks at her tail. He turns around and looks at his tail.
He bellows in comprehension and slaps Ishikawa on the back in camaraderie. They're the same!! ]
no subject
And she peers at World Shaking a little tiredly, poking him back again before nodding. It's called Evolution! You did it, and she did it! And...actually trainer is really good with it! She knows, because she's seen so many Pokemon evolve working with trainer!]
They're like two big boulders in a peapod.
no subject
He paws the dirt with one foot. Are you fast now too, Ishikawa?
....Haruka knows what that pawing means. So while she's glad you're more comfortable, Ishikawa, watching fondly isn't going to cut it in about five seconds. ] We should switch back.
no subject
Yeah. We should.
[And as she goes to tap the trade button again, a surge of electricity snaps out of her finger. It arcs out towards Haruka, popping out and seemingly drawn to her ahoge like a lightning rod.]
Shit! Not this again!
no subject
[ Haruka blinks, surprised more by the sudden swearing than whatever just happened (it was so fast, she's still processing it). Her finger is paused above her own Warp Band, and her ahoge is now standing straight up.
World Shaking is now snorting and lowering his head. They should go, they should go, oh boy, he's getting ready to go. ]
no subject
[And she mashes the button, a little embarrassed to have had that happen before she'd officially been able to announce this. Control was not easy, not yet.]
no subject
[ No sooner does World Shaking return to her awareness than she's stopping him in place with a WAIT. He pauses in mid-rev. Trainer! Okay, if Trainer wants him to wait, he will wait.
He's excited, though. Somehow he can't bring himself to think there won't be running soon.
But why does Trainer's head smell like thunderclouds? ]
no subject
Sorry. I wasn't...quite ready to tell you yet. [She rubs the back of her head tiredly, a sheepish and embarrassed expression plain.]
And I guess that means Right kept his mouth shut, huh?
no subject
Wait. The pieces fall in place. If that wasn't just a bad case of static, then it was generated by Yuuna. Yuuna, who until now has just been a martial artist.
Haruka smirks and nods to the hand responsible for that spark. A late bloomer, huh? No hard feelings here. ] It took you long enough.
no subject
[She trails off and looks away, still blushing just a bit. She'd definitely wanted to figure out more fine control instead of just stumbling across that reveal before letting anyone but Right know.]
You thought it was going to happen? You'd be the only one.
[It's true, her parents hadn't expected it. Merrill sure hadn't, and Yuuna herself? heck no!]
no subject
Haruka is not about to disabuse anyone of the notion that she's more psychic than she actually is, however, so she just shrugs. ] What's your typing?
[ Electric is, ah, obvious. (Though Haruka doesn't know she still has an antenna.) ]
no subject
Fighting, I think. I'm a lot stronger than I was before all this, and I don't think it's Steel typing.
[But she still seems uncomfortable with it.]
no subject
[ Just ask the bricklayers who look after the theater's courtyard. ]
no subject
[It isn't unwelcome. Not at all. It's just sudden. Surprising. A change she had thought would never come?]
How'd you deal with it at first? I mean. I've been having trouble with the electricity, obviously. But also strength. I've already dented my travel cup with my fingertips. I could probably toss a Rhyhorn one handed if I felt the need.
no subject
[ Oh Savior, she was like. A small (though not compared to the other kids) child. Still, when Haruka casts her mind back, she realizes an impression has lingered ever since.
So this laughter is slightly self-conscious. ] I didn't, really. Just let my instincts catch up with the rest of me. But I still don't think it's consciousness of myself I needed.
[ Breathing carefully, feeling the power inside herself, letting it flow the way it wanted....reading the wind around her, the ground beneath her, the person she trusts most believing she wouldn't do them undue harm. That's how she mastered her first evolution, which for her was the trickiest part. ] Concentrate outside yourself, and the power adjusts.
[ She realizes belatedly that may not apply to Fighting-types. ] ....though that might be my typing.
no subject
That might be. But it's a good point. Biorhythms are something anyone in my school of fighting are taught to control. I've never really been the best at it, but I can slow my heartrate, and I can focus enough of my ki into a fist to break a brick.
[That was before. This is now.]
But the electricity is different. It just...it wants to go everywhere! [She points to Haruka's hair...] See?
no subject
Sanae's evolutions had been a bit out of control too, though. She flicks her eyes towards the sky (and not in a subtle attempt to check what her hair looks like right now, nope). ] Can you feel it in the clouds?
[ They might need a thunderstorm for that. ]
no subject
Yuuna though, tracks the motion.]
I can, weakly. And I can feel it in you. The currents in your heart and brain. It's weak, but...yeah.
no subject
And it might teach Broken Möbius the Rotom that he's not a Pidgey. ]
no subject
[A sigh]
And it's frazzled my warp band. I can't call Zedd or Gouken.
no subject
[ There are several simple solutions to this problem. None of which have apparently occurred to Haruka yet - or, if they have, she's holding out for the moment to think them over. ]
no subject
Just...I guess they were right. Enlightened powers do mess with Warp technology. Which just makes me a liability until I can adjust strategies.
