2nd Summoning

[There are serious conversations about serious topics that are happening right now. This is not one of them.

This is a normal Teddiursa and a shiny Teddiursa moonwalking back and forth in the shopping district. They aren't just moonwalking - there's other dancing interspersed in there - but they come back to the moonwalking frequently so it's the part most likely to be seen. There's no musical accompaniment to the dancing, but the two of them are in synch with each other and aren't half bad considering they're bears. Other people apparently approve, since the bowl in front of their performance spot is gradually filling up with coins.

There's also a Totodile present, headbanging, using Dragon Dance, and generally rocking out completely off-rhythm from the bear brothers. It's getting much less attention from passerby than the Teddiursa are, mainly because it's not dancing over as wide of an area as the other two and is thus easier to miss.

Domri himself is watching from the back of his Rhyhorn so he can see over people, shirtless because who cares about Unionite prudishness it's hot out. His mohawk is still multicolored after the Day of Fire because he hasn't bothered to put in the effort to get all the color out.]

Teddi?

[Down the street a ways, a third Teddiursa blinks in surprise for a moment or two as it spots its brethren. It had been a while since it had seen any of its own kind... Oblivious to what they're doing, Teddie quickly pads his way towards the two dancers and waves.

He's followed distantly by a boy who looks faintly amused.

Hello, Teddiursa friends!]

[The dancing Teddiursa both see the other Teddiursa and incorporate synchronized waves to their fan into their dancing without missing a beat.]

[a_gentle_boy]

[Teddie waves back energetically, keeping his distance as they continue to enigmatically walk backwards.

What were they doing? Was it a Teddiursa thing? Should he be doing it, too?

By the time Lucas catches up, Teddie is speed-marching backwards and slamming into all kinds of people in the small crowd.]

Oops, sorry...

[Teddie is quickly plucked off the streets.]

They're performing. We're just going to watch, OK?

[By an astonishing coincidence, one of the people Teddie slams into is Domri. Or at least his foot hanging down the side of the Rhyhorn. He looks down at him.]

That's why you need a big open space if you want to dance.

Oh --

[Lucas smiles apologetically as Teddie glances up at the person he had rammed.]

Sorry about that. He gets, um... excited about things.

[A faint pause.]

We were together in Sanctuary, right? [It was hard to forget someone like Domri.] I don't think I ever introduced myself... My name is Lucas.

It's always good to get excited about stuff. It would be boring otherwise!

[Domri would be rather annoyed if he was forgotten.]

I'm Domri. Sanctuary was fun, wasn't it?

Er --

[Fun wasn't quite the word he would use, but.]

It was... an adventure!

[And adventures were neutral.]

I don't usually fight very often; I'm glad everyone got out of it OK.

I fight a lot, but I've never had a fight like that before! It's usually just against Pokémon that don't want to talk.

Ah... Yes, that's a little bit different. Teddie and I have run into that kind of thing before, and it was never so... violent

[In Lucas's arms, Teddie has been staring silently at their new conversation partner. At the mention of his name, he takes the opportunity to reach out and try to poke Domri's mohawk.]

Ah -- Teddie!

[It's a matted mess, like one solid dreadlock. It also still has colored power in it, which is now on Teddie's paw.

Domri was clearly not expecting Teddie to do that, but he recovers quickly and grins.]

You like it?

Don't do that! Well, not without asking.

Sorry, Domri...

[Teddie blinks at his paw for a moment before he licks the color. ...This is shortly followed by adorable teddy bear coughing and choking as he realizes it isn't candy.]

Don't do that, either!

[Teddie wisely decides he won't try to lick the ink around Domri's eyes around this time. Why is his hair like that, anyway?]

[Domri laughs at Teddie's reaction.]

It's powder from the Day of Fire, not food.

Ohh -

[Teddie blinks in confusion at this, but Lucas will nudge him.]

It's the holiday they had in Caldera.

...You didn't want to go because you were sleeping, remember?

[Teddie continues to look blank, but decides that if they had this stuff instead of food, it probably wasn't worth going.]

Domri, wasn't that --

[is it rude to point out that this was like, a week ago.]

Great? It was! There needs to be festivals like that more often!

[ a) It can be hard to get fine particles out of dreadlocks. b) Domri can't be bothered to spend that much time on something like that when there's adventure to be had. c) He doesn't have the world's greatest personal hygiene to begin with, though it's definitely better than his canon self. A few more swims or getting caught in the rain and most of the color will have come out.]

[a_gentle_boy]

Y-Yeah! ...Great.

[Lucas's response is a little weak, as he's caught off-guard by the thankfully prompt interruption. He'll roll with it.]

I've never seen something like that before. The festivals we have in Union are usually a little more... subdued.

[ Pearl - as always, with Ezzie her faithful Meowstic by her side - has stopped short at the sight of the dancing Teddiursa, seeming to be utterly enchanted by them. and by "utterly enchanted", we really mean "looking as though she's about to die from squee". ]

Oh my gosh, Ezzie, look at how adorable they are! What talented dancers!

[Domri looks over at Pearl from his perch atop his Rhyhorn and grins.]

They're pretty good, aren't they? They decided they wanted to dance where other people can see them today.

Oh, Mr. Rade--!

[ she stops short a moment upon noticing his lack of shirt, and though she's too polite to say anything, she does start turning very, very red. Ezzie the Meowstic, on the other hand, starts glaring at Domri as if to tell him to have a little decency, for the Saviour's sake. ]

U-um, yes, they're very talented! Did you teach them?

[radeonthecity]

[Domri's oblivious to the effect he's having on her.]

No, they were teaching themselves before I met them.

[pearltergeist]

Really? That's amazing! No wonder they wanted to show off all their hard work in front of others.

[ at that, she starts rummaging around in her small bag (which also serves the convenient purpose of giving her something to focus her attention on that isn't a shirtless man), finally coming out with a couple of coins. ]

["Man" is overdoing it. Domri glances over at the coins.]

People are giving them more money than I thought they would. They had a good idea with the bowl.

Well, they're very cheering! People are probably more than happy to give a few coins for something like that when things elsewhere are so tense. [ with a sudden giggle, she adds as an afterthought: ] And besides, they're simply so cute!

["Cute"? Well yes, but...]

...They're pretty strong, too.

Huh? [ oh no, did she offend him...? ] They can be both at the same time, can't they?

Yeah, they can.

[ phew! ]

I imagine it's better that way, in any case. That way you have the best of both worlds, right?

[That's...certainly some sort of show. Saber was walking around Union, getting a feel for the city, in human form when she stumbled across it. Deciding the Pokémon are probably concentrating too hard, she addresses Domri, as he seems to at least have some idea of what's going on.]

...what sort of a dance is this?

[He shrugs.]

They made it up on their own. They're pretty good, aren't they?

They are. The Totodile I would expect a bit, but I have never heard of Teddiursa mastering a dance.

[She looks closer.]

In fact, I'm not even sure how they're moving backwards like that...

That's what makes it so great to watch!

[He doesn't know how they're doing that either.]

[He gives a non-committal grunt.]

[She nods, and somehow manages to turn away from the spectacle to address Domri directly.]

I am Saber. I'm new to this city. I guess you could say I'm appreciating the sights.

It's an interesting place. All kinds of interesting stuff happens here! That's why I decided to come.

You're from outside Union as well? Where are you from?

Citadel. I'm from the Gruul tribe.

[Details that will be lost on someone who knows nothing about the Valkyries.]
