[ Around Union. Before trip to Old City ]

[ Roxas is actually out and around the city for once?? He's still trying to stick close to the Medical Center as much as possible but he's somewhat strayed away from his usual path between the Medical Center and the University. The reason being is because he's looking for something. During the Earthquakes his Klefki apparently lost one of her keys - her favorite in fact - and he's been helping her look for it.

He's still trying to avoid people as much as people but feel free to spot him looking around where a Pokemon could have lost something in the rubble. Both his Pokemon -- Sora the Eevee and Keeper the Klefki -- are out helping him search. ]

[ Medical Center. After trip to Old City ]

[ Caves, or rather Ruins, are not fun.

Roxas could be found around the Medical Center for just a little bit while he helps a doctor with an errand but as soon as he's done with that he's sent off to go rest in his room in the Psychiatric Ward. Unless you visit him in his room there is only a small chance to catch him while he makes his way from the main part of the Medical Center over to the Ward. ]

[ Yeah Roxas definitely doesn't use the whole length of the bed. And Sora can just cozy up to the eggs and help keep them warm so that's not an issue either. ]

Okay. I'll keep them there.

[ And with that he'll go back to stand where he was before just like that. ]

[He meanwhile is still standing himself. His hands clasp together and fidget a bit nervously. After his encounter with Jean...it made him think.]

Listen, Roxas. I actually...came here to talk to you about something.

... About what.

[ He can tell your nervous. Though there's no expression on Roxas' face to express that. ]

Well, it's...

[He might as well spit it out]

You know all the training I've been doing? It's...not for nothing.

I've been training so one day, I can join the Rangers.

You want...

[ He falls silent for a moment. How does he respond if he doesn't even know how to express, or even what he should express at this point.

Guess the best thing he can do is just finish his sentence so he tries again. ]

You want to ... become a ranger.

[...Yeah. He really wish he was psychic right about now. Or heck an empath that could sense emotions useful here]

Yeah.

I've been...working towards it for awhile now.

I dunno when I'll join- maybe in a couple weeks, maybe a few months or maybe not for another year. Everything that's happened recently has sorta made things be up in the air.

But whenever it'll be, I plan on joining.

.... What will you do after?

[ From the sounds of it, ans from how nervous Sora is, it doesn't sound like he wants to become a ranger just to become one. ]

[He hesitates. After a year, he had grown so used to lying- so much that his usual talk of seeing new places was about to come out when he stops himself]

[Roxas, at least, deserved the truth.]

[He glances back at the door to make sure it's shut tight. He'd rather not have doctors or guard overhearing]

Then...I'll try to find home.

... Home.

[ Roxas doesn't remember the home Sora was talking about. Now he wonders if he would be doing the same if he did. Maybe he wouldn't find the outside world so hard to grasp. Maybe a lot of things.

It's almost frustrating. Almost. But rather than showing that his expression stays the same as it's nearly always been this past year: blank. ]

...Yeah.

[He looks away from Roxas. Part of him knows his brother can't help it, but he really can't stand looking at such a blank face when it's about something so important.]

You don't remember, but...we're not from around here. We lived somewhere far away. But a year ago, some bad stuff happened and...we ended up here, in Union.

I dunno what home's like now or if there's even anything left, but...I have to find it again.

[ Roxas' hand subconsciously lifts and rubs the back of his head. The only thing he knows is that whatever happened it was the cause of his head injury and being brought here when he was found. Sora's words seem to confirm it.

There's a nod to Sora's words followed by a moment's silence. Roxas looks like he's almost recalling something - words someone told him - before finally voicing a response. ]

I... I will do what I can.

[ To help that is ]

[And now it was Sora's turn to be confused or surprised, and the expression he gives Roxas when he looks back at him tells that much. He wasn't asking for help, he was simply telling Roxas because he felt his brother had a right to know.]

Huh?

[ And this brother is starting to feel like even though he doesn't remember there must be something he can help with. Sora's name was, unknowingly at the time, the first thing Roxas' "remembered". That means something and it also means he should at least try to help the original bearer of that name. ]

To help. I'll find a way.

Roxas...

[And here comes the guilty feelings. Sora knew his path was a dangerous one. It was a crazy plan, he knew it. To get his brother roped in when he was pretty helpless was...]

[He shakes his head]

You don't have to. This is my choice. You should just...focus on getting better.

[ Roxas visibly frowns a little at that. ]

Focus how?

I...don't know.

[He frowns and scratches his own head. It wasn't like he was a medical expert.]

I just...I don't want you to get into any danger for my sake.

[ He shakes his head ]

Then I won't. But I've made my choice.

[.................jerk.]

You know, it's cheating to use my words against me.

[No it's not, he's just a sore loser]

[ That aside... he nods because at least you said it was fine. That's better than nothing. ]

[But he'll look over at him; there's definitely a little bit of gratitude in his expression]

Just...be careful about who you tell? I mean, about being from somewhere else. I...don't know what kinda reaction it'd cause.

[ He can just zombie stare at them or something. Not that his conversations would ever get that far with anyone to begin with. ]

[Sheesh Roxas he said be careful who you tell, not terrify anyone who dare gets near asking!]

I'm sorry. I wish I had better things to tell you about home.

[ But at least the end result is the same! ... sort of.

He shakes his head. ]

It's... ok. Maybe one day I'll remember.

You will. You remembered my name. That must mean they aren't lost, just...a little misplaced!

And there's a lot of good memories too. It's not all bad.

[ that's a new way of putting it. he likes it better than how the doctors put it. 'it's missing' and 'it's lost' makes it sound like they may or may not come back at all.
