Beach Party Log

Who: The people of Union and all their wonderful friends who can be bothered to take a vacation.
Where: The Tropical Island
When: On and off, the second week of June
What: Union's more-than-annual beach party. Open log, tag around!

The sun is shining, the Wingull are squawking, and the beach of the Tropical Island is as beautiful as always. The whole city has more or less been effectively encouraged to come out, especially people who need to recover from the shenanigans in Sanctuary. The air is filled with the sounds and smells of Citadel visitors grilling, the expected murmurs of shock at Calderan fashions hitting the place where they're most practical, and of course, the colorful sights of everyone having a good time. There's lots of places to see and things to do on the island, and now's the time to enjoy them.

[ Passion already feels like she's reacted more than enough, thank you! Some vendor around here is selling fruit juice, aren't they? She'll have to do an impression of Trainer's Trainer until her own Trainer caves and gets her some.

But for now, this looks like a win. So she tosses her curls in the air. When you react like that, you're almost tolerable. Now, do excuse her. ] Vulpix~

[ You would like the theater. Haruka hands the gun back to its owner, grinning. ] Good luck striking the balance. You're doing fine, Skitty.

[ They have used up their collective wink quota for this conversation, so she'll have to settle for arching an eyebrow approvingly. ]

[is that a shiver, despite herself? Probably.]

I'll hold you to that promise.

[Brad is, at the moment, being babysat by Right. There are certain advantages to being in such an organization.]

[ You're a genius. A genius of dubious scruples, but in some ways that level of resolve just impresses Haruka more. ] We should probably enjoy the sun while it's out, anyway.

[ The things she'd like to do are best done after dark. ]

[Brad's eyes get all shiny and he stops squirming enough to gesture expansively with his paws.]

Doof! Doof doof. [his sun, his moon, his only reason for living! That's who!]

[that's a quiet laugh] Are you going to nap again?

[there is little point in trying to lure you into the water when you've got a bandage on]

[ There is equally little point in trying to lure her into the water when she could stay on the shore and watch you swim, too. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try once she's bandage-free.

Haruka takes another sip of her drink, rotating the glass. ] I'm open to suggestions.

[ This is nice, though. Just them lazing together, bouncing off each other. This is what she hopes peace feels like when it's achieved for good - if they can allow themselves the indulgence of a hope. ]

Well. I'm going to need materials. And if you're even a beginning trainer? You're equipped to handle what I'm going to need. Stuff from the forest, stuff from the mountain foothills and the canyon. Nothing dangerous, just stuff that I need to make this work that's harder to find in Union.

[But she'll get all weeeeeeet.]

I'm...I'm fine, thanks.

I'll spare you from such exertions. For the time being.

[But she might drag him along some day. Being a Valkyrie requires a certain amount of daring-do.]

Train, though? In combat?

[Mami takes the gun and smiles, then dispels it -- it's easier to not maintain ones that she isn't using, really. She tilts her head, though.]

Why, thank you. And I would say you've prepared for any trouble this beach quite well. [A glance at that sword again.] Your aim is superb, too.

Let's go for a walk.

[and if they incidentally find somewhere quieter, so be it.]

[ You don't say. ] All right.

[ Her breath hitches as she stands, putting perhaps a bit too much weight on that arm - but she's also moving slowly since this is a vacation, so that could equally just be an expression of laziness. Either way, though, she's up. Progress. ]

[ Haruka smirks to accept the compliment but doesn't follow up on it. Best not to dwell on why the actress carries a weapon on vacation. ] Don't forget to stop by the theater.

[Haruka isn't the only one laying out on the beach that's dangerous to the eye. Rei doesn't shine so much as shimmers, the unnatural heat of her body in the sun throwing up a weirding effect around her. The swimsuit, elegant figure, and the Gardevoir holding an overlarge parasol probably don't hurt either.

Passing by, she looks down at her older friend...or whatever she is ]

Enjoying life as usual?

I'll be sure to.

That's seriously it? Just go get some things and bring them back? That doesn't sound so hard.

[Well, it doesn't sound hard. Sound being the operative word...]

Sure, I'm your man! Just give me the list and I'll getcha everything you need!

[He starts to swim back, and doesn't answer the question though until they reach the sandy shore. He sits, feet at the edge of the water, the waves pushing water up over his feet and receding again.]

I mean, yeah, sorta. Ever since that Gigas crap, I've been trying to do a little bit more than just have a pair of weapons on me. [Normally he'd try to pass this off to try to look amazing in this girl's eyes, but he can't lie to her. She's from Citadel, she knows perfectly well that he isn't trained for combat, or even knows how to train, probably just by looking at him. He looks like a lean, only slightly muscular boy from the tree.]

That shit's totally hard, I really gotta give you ladies credit for what you do. I'm still sore from a few days ago...!

[Michiru follows quietly, slipping her hand into yours. Considering how she's aiming for your other hand, she probably heard that.

'Troublesome' is the perfect word for you.]

[ Sorry about that. Haruka slides her fingers between Michiru's as far as they can go, appreciating her partner's perseverance. She bumps those hands against your leg, too: sorry, and thank you.

There's a somewhat solitary-looking area up this way, isn't there? ]

Good luck practicing. [ And she salutes. It's jaunty, and a little cocky, but it's also the most she can manage from one warrior to another when she "just acts". You do your thing in your way. She'll do hers.

And she'll be keeping an eye out for Mami in the future. ]

[ Aren't we fancy. Haruka cracks open an eye to take in this tableau. ] It has its moments.

[ And she'd better sit up a little if she's going to talk, huh. ] Summer suits you.

[Fancy indeed. Rei pulls back her sunglasses and smiles.] Thank you, and I think it suits you as well.

[Deimos hand waves and out rolls a towel, born on psychic energy.]

Mind if I stake a claim here?

Basically, yeah, that's exactly what I need you to do.

[Fetch quests! In the land of Rhyhorn and Cubones.]

Also, I'll probably need your help testing things. Various designs and the like.

[at least she's perfectly aware that there's no point in fussing over it now. Still, that's a squeeze of her hand in acknowledgement.]

I suppose this area of the beach isn't quite as popular. [the crashing of the surf against the rocks is, if anything, louder over here]
