[There's a bird guy perched on a railing outside of Hikawa Shrine-- that much is visible to the feed. He's fiddling with a glove-covered hand that doesn't appear to be moving, and then glances at the Warp Band.]

So I guess all the earthquakes and the tunnels taught some of you some important things. I know at least one group met someone believed to be the Savior. Were there any other significant events? I wasn't along, so I'm trying to catch up.

[In the meantime, Ankh appears to have learned how to cook. While a lot of what he makes tends to be sweet or cold or both, it's given him something to do and it's given him a way to help out around the Shrine, even if he'd never admit to that purpose. With Eiji having been seven kinds of out of sorts after his return from the tunnels, he's made a small container full of what look like mochi balls. They're crude and potentially too-sweet, but they're something.]

[They're also being balanced atop the pile that Eiji has become in his room, now that they no longer share one.]

[Anyone else in or around the Shrine is free to catch him on his way to present these to his depressed lizard.]

[Out of sorts was a good way to put it. The experience in the tunnels had been ...something to say the least. There was nothing quite like being put in a situation where he'd had every bit of the powered he'd begun taking for granted, ripped out of his hands and then see how completely powerless and useless he was in the face of a threat that was killing people right before his eyes.]

[He still remembers the look that soldier had given him before the ground swallowed him up. The fear and horror. Nothing- he couldn't do anything.]

[So maybe he wasn't making it worse by allowing himself to mope. It was hard to shake himself out of the way that whole thing had made him feel. He didn't like it.]

[So of course his Pokemon had taken to surrounding him. Even the more ornery ones could see that his distress was a big enough deal to put differences aside and hope that maybe he would snap out of it.]

[He glances up as Ankh sets the contain on his side. He didn't even hear him come in. He blinks for a moment and then looks at the container, and then back at him with a curious expression.]

[Ankh had a pretty good idea of what had gone on, though not in any specifics. He had heard a lot of trauma had come out of the tunnels with everyone, and he assumed that Eiji was having some kind of issue over not being able to save someone. He didn't know how close to right he was.]

[He looks between the container and Eiji a few times, and then nods at it.]

You haven't moved in a while. Humans need to eat.

[He looks at again and then kind of. Smiles faintly. He shifts so that he can take the container and then nudges a few of his pokemon out of the way so he can sit up properly. His wings shake out and refold while he settles.]

Mm, It seems I lost track of time.

[Ankh takes his acceptance of the mochi as an invitation to join him, so he folds himself neatly into a pile on his knees in front of Eiji, his wings angling themselves to not get bunched up with where he sits.]

I'm not used to having to prompt you to speak. Usually it's the reverse-- I can't get you to shut up.

It was terrible!

[ Birds. Birds EVERYWHERE. ]

[You are talking to the wrong guy if you've got a problem with birds, Sanae. He raises his eyebrows and fluffs his wings.]

Mm-hmm?

[There's a small laugh at that and Eiji makes a conscious effort to put on more of a smile. It was unexpected, but he could tell this was Ankh's way of being worried.]

Ah, here I was thinking you would be enjoying the silence.

[Rei saw the broadcast, and figured someone else would help her obnoxious bird-houseguest, but she's sort of noticed that Ankh has been cooking. And that Eiji has been having a hard time with all this. She hasn't talked to either of them, as she'd immediately left the city for at least two days herself. The Volcano had helped though, all that fire...]

What's that, Ankh?

[She also seems to have accepted your ass enough to have dropped the honorific.]

There's a difference between companionable silence and unnerving silence.

[He shifts, turning so he's not facing him entirely, but still sitting there.]

[His wings puff outward in alarm and he turns, eyes wide for a moment.]

Savior. Try making sound when you walk.

[He walks over and brusquely shoves a small plate of mochi at her.]

They're sweet.

[His teasing smile sobers a little.]

I'm sorry if it's been bothering you.

[He waves a hand dismissively, directed at the container of mochi.]

At least now you have a reason to be quiet.

[He looks at the container again with interest.]

Mm. Did you make these?

[He did sort of vaguely notice Ankh hovering near the kitchen more often. He opens the container to get one out.]

[He makes an affirmative grunt of a sound.]

They're easy enough to make one-handed.

[He puts one in his mouth and chews on it thoughtfully. It was kind of sweet but it wasn't bad or anything. Definitely not do off putting he couldn't appreciate what Ankh did. He smiles, something actually genuine for the first time since he's come home.]

They're good.

[He then nods to Ankh's arm.]

That doesn't seem like entirely a true statement.

[he hadn't had a chance to ask him about it, but he was curious.]

[There is something very satisfying about getting him to smile, and the fact that it is so satisfying startles Ankh a little. He scrunches his face, and then takes the distraction to his arm. Shifting around, he holds it up.]

It's mostly a prototype for now, it doesn't move. But at least it's something.

[He's been pretty secretive about the whole process.]

[That doesn't surprise him, honestly. Also, Ankh is entitled to a little privacy. Eiji was a private person himself.]

I see. Whoever you go to see does good work. I'm glad.

[Because he knows how the whole thing bothers him. He will just eat a few more of those mochi.]

[She stamps her wooden sandal and it clicks.]

You're just deaf.

[And she plucks one off the tray and sniffs it.]

They smell it, yes. Are they fresh?

[He looks over the arm and nods.]

His name is Souda. He's respectable.

[He watches Eiji eat those, and doesn't quite smile but there's a definite pleasant aspect to his expression.]

That's good. I would hate to know that you were seeing someone who was not.

[Slight tease. But yes he is eating them. He offers one to Eclair who is a nut for sweets. She is very happy to try them out, as well.]

[Huff. He was distracted making his sweets, thank you.]

Yeah. I've been learning how to make them.

[He props the dish carefully on his false arm and takes one himself, nibbling at it thoughtfully.]

Oh shove off.

[He drops his weight sideways, leaning against Eiji's shoulder with an irritated sulk.]

So what happened in those tunnels to shut you up so thoroughly?

[She nibbles too. Is it poison?]

[Is it poison, nanny? Well, it won't kill the dog, it just might give you a cavity. They are very sweet, perhaps too much so, but otherwise non-offensive. And certainly not poisonous.]

[Ankh seems pleased with the taste, but glances to Rei for her thoughts.]

[He oomphs a little and then goes stark quiet at his question. For a moment, it seems like Eiji is ignoring that Ankh spoke to him at all, but if he were to look, there's no denying that harried, almost dead look in his eyes.]

[He averts them to pet Yumi for a moment, giving himself something else to focus on.]

I didn't meet The Savior, if that's what you're wondering.
