Fourth Snapshot | Video

[The smiling, cheery photographer does not appear to be in right now. What the feed gets is someone who is tired, frazzled, and angry.]

I'm glad to see that it looks like everyone made it out of that mess alive. I don't- I don't really know what to make of what we saw down there, but I can say this: I'm not really fond of a bunch of Gods that would put kids through something like that. That was bullshit.

[There's a pause while he tries to get himself under control.]

I need a drink. I need ten drinks. I'm going to go get ten drinks. Someone tell me if there's a place in town that has good drinks.

[You are a wonderful child. He will wait patiently for his food to get here. They probably get any drinks first so Hayato will nurse his beer. He's not going to plow through a bunch on someone else's dime.]

So, how have you been feeling since we got back. You weren't hurt or anything, right?

[He's totally with you there.]

I really hope so. [Because he's still kind of pissed.]

I need to blow off some steam. I don't suppose you'd be up for a sparring match today?

Not much, no. The worst is this-- [He points to the shiner he's bearing] --and that's from Yami having a fit after we got back. Not that I don't blame him, though, what with those horrible PokeBalls and everything...

Softy's the one got pretty banged up, though. Thankfully, he's doing better now, and he's forgiven me for what happened, too. He even evolved shortly after we arrived back home! Though now that he's now part-Steel, his punches hurt more than they used to.

[Rick sighs and shakes his head at Right. Such is the drawback of being a Fairy, my good friend.] Clefai.

Before or after your ten drinks?

[You know since those were going to be a thing.]

[The silence is palpable and it's starting to get to him. He glances over at Taki killing his drink and huffs into his water.]

What was that you said about me taking it slow?

I'm not in any hurry to master the drunken arts. [HE'S GOING TO BE IN FOR SUCH A SURPRISE.]

We could do it before. I'm going to meet Taki later for drinks.

Fine by me. [Work will keep, he's just going to have to stay later.]

Let's take this outside the city limits.

[He feels a little bad wanting to drag Thorin out for something like this but man does he need to punch something to get it out. He appreciates that Thorin indulges him.]

Sure thing. I'll meet you by the gate?

Excuse you, I'm almost twice as tall as you and haven't already had five beers.

Yes. I'll be there soon.

[He doesn't say so, but Thorin can use a chance to blow off some steam as well. Sparring just isn't usually his method of choice.]

Yeah, yeah.

[He drinks his water.]

I'm not going to carry you out either, you know.

[Hayato, for all his dedication to searching for the truth and wielding his camera and his words for justice, was a still a hot-blooded punk who grew up on the streets. He doesn't care for violence, but there's something terribly cathartic about getting the shit kicked out of you until you couldn't stand. With Thorin, he didn't have to hold back.]

[He's on time, waiting by the gate when Thorin gets there.

Heh. Well, that's better than getting hit with one of those ice shards are worst. I'm sure your pokemon understand. You didn't put them in those balls, the gods did. Or- whoever it was that orchestrated that mess.

[He had kept his own pokemon in them, mostly out of fear of them getting hurt. Once they were back and everyone else was gone, he'd spent some time apologizing and asking for his own forgiveness. Goro had whacked him over the head. He wasn't as strongly opinionated as some Unionites were, but they were just bad devices. Things they shouldn't be using. They were tools of Gigas and just flat out wrong.]

[That part about being part steel makes him blink. He looks at Rick and then at Right, again.]

You're a fairy type, then?

You won't have to, I can walk home after seven of these.

[He probably speaks from experience.]

[Not a lot of people have to hold back with Thorin. And while he's never fallen in love with fighting for its own sake the way some people do, that doesn't mean he can't appreciate it.

Thorin doesn't keep Hayato waiting long, shows up still dressed in work clothes that smell like smoke and metal, sleeves rolled up, showing some of the dark blue scales that cover him in patches where scars should be.
And he doesn't stop, just nods for him to follow and keeps walking. They'll want to be somewhat out of sight, at least - as usual, they won't want to be drawing the guards' attention. It might be a friendly spar, but it might not look the part.]

Yeah, they do, thankfully. [Right smiles as he pets Rick--who, naturally, enjoys it very much. However, his smile fades for a moment, as he seems to be lost in thought.

Hayato's question snaps him out of it.] Eh? Oh, yeah! Always have since I was a kid. Course, some kids thought I wasn't. They used to think I was a Snorlax shifter because I always out-eat everyone.

Seven. [That is an incredulous look, there.]

[He can't help but laugh at that.]

I'm not all that surprised. How many meals did you order just now? For just you?

[He's definitely going to tease this kid.]

[Which is good, because Hayato always feels oddly exposed when displaying any of that strength he got from being Enhanced. He didn't tell people about it- he barely told anyone he was an earthkin. The less eyes on him, the better.]

[He head after him without a word, keeping an eye out for a good patch of open area for them to use.]

[And a raised eyebrow is the response.]

Yeah? They're low-content.

[He shakes his head with a laugh.]

You're built like an Usaring. That doesn't surprise me.

[He frowns, trying to think of what an Usaring looks like.]

[He turns and raises his arms like a bear.]

Roar.

[He snickers at him.]

Very threatening.

I've got way more leg than an Usaring, though.

[He leans back on his stool and kicks a leg out for a minute. It's after his fourth beer that he finally turns to Hayato with his jaw set.]

Hayato.

Eh, I won't argue with you there.

[He sips his water with a smile on his face until Taki says his name.]

Hm?
