[ For someone who seemed positively tickled at the idea of investigating the strange things going on, Lux doesn't look particularly happy once the search parties make their way back to Union. ]

I hope everyone got back safely. Things--ah--got a bit intense while we were down there, and I don't think I really understand what happened. We all saw some things, things that some of us weren't prepared for.

[ That was an understatement, considering her tone of voice. ]

The Gods were testing us. They wanted us to see those things. Past humanity's hubris. They wanted to see how we would react.

I don't--

[ She paused for a moment, then smiled a bit hesitantly. ]

We should remember this, and how we reacted. Whether or not we thought it was the right thing to do in hindsight, this is the impression we've left, for better or for worse.

I hope we did the right thing.

[Talking about it out loud sounds really ridiculous, actually.]

When my abilities awakened, one of them was empathy--being able to experience others' feelings like my own. But with the god, I thought about it beyond that--it felt betrayed by people it trusted and was lashing out in anger. I, uh...

["I know what betrayal feels like."]

I told it that I knew how it felt. I think that when it saw that we were refusing to fight, and all of our Pokemon were prepared to fight for our sake, it was tipped off that we were from the future. It said something about the "Wayfarer" running interference again and that we didn't belong there.

[ Saying she understood how a god felt... That was a big gamble, Maka. She wasn't sure if she could completely respect that, not being much of a betting woman herself. It could have gone a number of different ways. ]

It knew that you were from the future?

[Maka is very much aware that it was a stupid move and a very huge risk, if someone respected her for it she'd think they were about as stupid as her in that moment.]

Uh-huh...and it said something like "I'll remember this and we will meet again." I've been thinking about that. It's like another encounter I had with a god, before that happened, it said that it was here "on orders." I wonder now if it had something to do with this "Wayfarer" the other god mentioned.

Could you elaborate on your other encounter as well? If you don't mind.

[A deep breath aaand...exhale. Maka seems less eager to talk about this one, but--]

I was up in the mountains for the first time and got caught up in this freak lightning storm. Then this...big yellow flying creature came down and told me to leave, since it had chosen the mountain as its perch. It controlled the storm and talked about electrocuting me.

[Maka actually refused and ended up bargaining with Zapdos on the matter, but that's not relevant.]

Like I said, I asked why it was here and if that meant others were here or coming. It said that it didn't want to be here, it was just there on orders. It never actually answered the other bit, but considering what happened after I think that was a yes.
