Sixth Sword - Video/Action

[This evening's entertainment is brought to you by Someone Giving Brigadier the Warp Band. He waves at everyone before turning the Band towards the center of the Swords' training ground, where Martin and Boar are training, watched by several recruits (and a few of the older members because Martin with a sword is fun to watch). It's basic sword fighting, with Boar swinging at Martin who deflects it with his Enhanced sword and tries to get at Tiria, Aubertia, or Sunflash behind him.

Anyone who understands Pokémon will hear Brig say he's been doing this all week and that he's probably going to have to rest next week. He's been training like crazy. If they hang around the Swords, they'll have seen it for themselves.

From the fight:]

Come on, Boar, I know you're better than that!

[In Poke: "Well yeah but you've been training like crazy! I think you're stronger than me now!"]

Use Pursuit on me, then. Come on!

[Boar glances at the other 'mons behind him, who shrug. He shakes his "head" and starts chasing after Martin, who makes to dodge and block his Honedge.

Only there's this pink glow that surrounds Martin, blinding Boar who falls to the ground. When it fades, Martin's natural glow, previously faintly Ghost-type purple, now has hints of Fairy-type pink and his dark hair has a streak of golden-brown in it.

Also his sword's red pommel stone is kind of glowing.

Martin just looks at the sword and runs his hands over his hair before looking at his Honedge and the surrounding observers]

...Is there any way to tell if you gained any extra powers when you evolve?

[Yuuna'd come by to check up on Martin, and despite not being a Sword herself, the Ranger was glad to watch her old friend at work. He'd been so skilled with a sword before the accident, one of her favorite sparring partners, and she'd dearly missed the dazzling performances they'd put on at times. It'd brought students in and done wonders for Swords recruitment drives, after all.

Her breath stills when he starts to glow, and she leaps to her feet before quickly crossing the flagstones to him, followed close behind with a Gallade and Politoed at her side.]

You try them out, is what. But before you do that, you let your medic friend look you over. I'm not being a worrywart this time, either. Evolution drains the body heavily.

But you look...pinker...

Pinker?

[Boar nods, as do the other 'mons]

You mean the glow?

Yes, the glow.

[She reaches out and pokes him in the shoulder.]

What else would I mean, Martin? Your skin is the same color it always is.

Action

[He pokes back]

I just evolved, Yuuna. I'm not thinking straight!

[Boar makes a comment. Martin ignores him]

I...I think I gained a Fairy-type. I'm not sure, but it feels like it, especially since my sword was glowing. It's a Fairy sword.

[Yuuna grins.]

Let's test that.

[And with that she snaps her fingers, and out comes Suzume. The Dragonite sort of towers over...pretty much everything there and looks at him.

Yuuna sidesteps.]

Are you really curious, and how much do you trust me?

I'm not an expert on evolution, but when I evolved I kinda just... knew.

[He sighs a little, running a hand over his head. His hair is so soft now...]

That's what I thought. I think I've gained a type...

I'm going to guess Fairy. My sword was glowing and it's a Fairy-type sword.

[A chance to watch Martin the Warrior do actual training? His life had taken some drastic turns in the last couple of weeks...some good, some awful, but for the most part Matthias had been sure that he couldn't get any more happy until this. It was like watching every dream he'd had since childhood unfold right in front of his eyes.

And then Martin evolved. And Matthias' staff and jaw hit the floor at roughly the same time.

Even if he had words to say, they'd probably be unintelligible, so just have an awkward teenager staring dumbfoundedly at you.]

[While Martin sorts this mess out, Brigadier the Mankey cuts the feed and goes over to pick up Matthias's staff, closing his mouth with it and poking him in the side.

He was told to look out for the kid. This is how he does that.]

[Well, that was a quick way to snap him out of his stupor; he even shook his head a little, as if he were still trying to figure out if this WAS some kind of dream or not...but no, the poke in the side was definitely an indication that he was very much awake, so he thanked Brigadier for his staff back before slowly turning back to Martin.]

I'm...not sure about powers but you seem very...

[Don't say pink. Don't say pink. Do not under any circumstance say pink Matthias of Union.]

Pink...

[Savior dammit all...]

I really wish I could see my glow in the daylight...

[Again with the pink]

At least it's not a very bright glow...just. A noticeable one.

[Oh, Martin evolved! He grins.]

Congratulations! That was quite the demonstration!

Which part, the bright light or me and Boar?

What have you figured out about your evolution so far?

It's Fairy-type and my hair feels like a Pikachu's fur, only without the static.

[ Friend, you're a bit pinker than usual. ]

Do you feel any different? Stronger, maybe?

[warriormouse]

I'm not really sure. I've been training a lot this week.

[worldmother]

There's usually a marked difference after you evolve. Physical changes, abilities you might not have had beforehand.

[ Like being able to blow up combat dummies with little to no difficulty. She still feels a little bad about that. ]

[warriormouse]

Well, my hair feels different? I can't tell if there's anything else different.

[ Cordelia managed to catch the tail end of the training session, her focus keenly on Martin. When you train and fight as much as she did, there were certain signs she could pick up on when a soldier was about to reach a breakthrough and, as suspected, the man began to glow.

She waited until he said his piece before beginning to clap, walking across the yard toward him. ]

Very well done.

Apparently. But I think I'm now Fairy as well as Ghost. That's interesting.
