Closed Log: A Very Senshi Salvation

Today was the day they'd all waited for, and it's early in the morning when Rei notices that the eggs Ophir had been watching over for the last week were starting to shake and rattle like a hatching was going to happen. The call went out a little later, inviting all the other girls over to watch. Food was set up, and she'd encouraged Eiji to make sure Ankh was elsewhere so that he wouldn't just show up and be...himself. The hatching is nigh!

Leavanny.

[ Natto, upon hearing Trainer was going to go watch some eggs hatch, gathered some baby blankets and offered to take them along. Now he's staring at someone's egg with wide eyes, watching the surface splinter open. What will come out? This is so exciting! A life is being born!

And he's ready for it, with a blanket and a leaf.

....Alternatively, there's a tiny female Starly trying to pick bits of eggshell off her feathers elsewhere. Her plume swoops in a U rather than a C. ]

[Rei isn't really eating or chatting unless approached, but more sitting and watching the eggs a sort of eager curiosity. What egg was the lotto going to decide was hers, and who would end up with Casius' egg? Casius is much the same, the big tigerdog settling down at her feet and resting his head on his paws.

However, anyone who knows what she's been up to lately might be surprised to see that she's got a little Charmander sitting in her lap. As a means of focusing her attention on something other than the eggs, she's playing with him, tapping his nose and trying to dodge his nipping teeth. It's a cute game, at least, and the little guy seems more than happy to be there. So...come say hi?]

You found him. [ Without loss of life or limb! Well played!

Natto waves but hides behind Haruka when he sees that this new Pokémon is on fire. Do...you think he knows about that...? Vivace did, so it might be normal.... ] Leavanny.

[Charmander looks up as he fails to catch Rei's finger with his teeth and his eyes go wide at the sight of the tall human.] Char! Charmander!

[Rei strokes his head gently, giving his belly a rub before answering Haruka.]

I did. Well...Eiji and I did.

[Minako was excited, but a little nervous, too. The only Pokemon in her group willing to go through with the egg thing had been Rico, which sort of didn't surprise her, but she was hoping that the hatched Pokemon wasn't going to be as bad as he was. She was still reeling from the idea that he was dropping off all these eggs...]

Does he remember you?

[ Or, if this isn't a reincarnation thing, did he have a feeling. That kind of thing.

Natto ventures out, hand raised in greeting. Hi. Your teeth would be scarier if they were bigger, so he'll be brave. ] Vanny va.

[there's a rampant Togepi waddling around, trying to make friends with the eggs! Though it's kinda hard when none of them seem to be responding...

Michiru is hovering, keeping tabs on the eggbaby's explorations while trying to look like she's not hovering.]

I'm honestly not sure. He's...a little young to remember, but he has told me that I feel familiar. I'm not sure if I understood it right, but I got the impression it was rather motherly.

[Natto won't be bitten, and Charmander will stick out a hand to shake.]

Mander!

Congratulations to both of you, then. [ Haruka watches as Natto accepts that hand and shakes it gingerly. See, he wasn't worried! You're very sweet. And you'll like it here in the city, with your Trainer, but if you ever miss nature he can help. ] Lea!

[ In fact, he has a leaf ready already! He came extra prepared to this gathering since new babies are going to be born! Would you like a leaf? ] Leava va?

Thank you. He's...a bit of a runt, but I think when he evolves that'll change. I've only really just gotten him out of the hospital.

[He looks at the leaf and nips at it, chewing on it thoughtfully. That may not be what you intented, Natto, but snacks are snacks!]

Leavanny. [ Natto looks dismayed. (Frankly, he looks like he's about to faint.) That's not....

...no, he should be fair. He tries a shaky smile. Well, as long as Charmander's happy?

Having wished both Rei and baby the best, Haruka nods and looks over at the clutch of eggs. ] How's this going to work, again....?

[ It wasn't hard to contribute an egg, since World Shaking had wanted to visit the Rhyhorn (now Rhydon) he'd met at the Breeding Center to see if she liked his evolution. Apparently she had. A lot.

Haruka stifles a cough at the thought and just keeps watching the wiggling eggs. ]

Well, Ophir's heating them like she's supposed to, of course. And there's a lotto for who gets which egg.

[She gestures towards a box with a hole in the top.]

Pick out a piece of paper, and that'll tell you which egg you get.

How scientific. [ Haruka looks over at the box, then down at Natto, who seems interested. So she picks up the box and holds it for him instead. ]

Don't mess this up, now.

Leaaaa. [ He gets to pick? Oh, Trainer! Natto is so excited. He shuffles forward and puts his arm into the box. He has to pick a great egg, a really great egg....

........he doesn't have fingers. How's he supposed to get this paper out??? ]

[here's a tiny Shinx. She's either squeaking at you if you've got food or she's trying to climb into this super interesting box. While also squeaking. This one apparently has a lot to say!]

[It's at that point that the box starts to glow a bit, surrounded by a pinkish field of some sort of psychic power and a strange brown creature floats out from another room. A soothing mental presence fills the room and Sarek's newly evolved state comes to Natto's aid.]

Behee. Yeeeem!

[Rei nods her thanks, because while watching Natto flail was funny...it would get annoying after a little while.]

[ Oh, hi, new Pokémon! Natto would wave, but he's too busy retrieving this piece of paper out of the now-floating box. There! Should he give this to Trainer or to Trainer's friend....?

Rei is closer, so he goes with that, handing the paper over with a smile. Read it out so they can surprise Trainer! He hopes he picked a good one. ] Leavanny.

[ Haruka doesn't look too worried what the luck of the draw has in store for her. ] Well?

[Rei gives Natto a smile, and the box drifts back down as the alien's task is finished. He sort of floats over to his trainer and eyes the paper as she unfolds it.]

You have the Starly egg, Haruka-san. The one Minako-chan provided. The grey and white one, I believe.

[She'd congratulate you, but...are you sure you want it if it turns out like Rico?]

This one, huh?

[ That's a familiar pattern. Come to think of it, haven't there been a lot of Starly (and other Flying-types) sitting on nests around the city lately....?

She puts her hand on the egg in question and can feel it wiggle. ] Lively kid.

[ Haruka doesn't appear to know about Rico yet. This is probably for the best. Natto, meanwhile, is selecting the blue and gold baby blanket from the pile he brought with him and is tucking it around Haruka's egg. There you go, little Starly! You'll have fun with Trainer. She's really capable. ]

[For the best.]

That's the one. Ophir tells me the baby's been kicking around a lot lately. Definitely wants to get out and see where things go.

[Rei moves and kneels down by the next egg over, a pink and cream colored one. It jiggles slightly too, like it's trying to roll away.]

I drew an Igglybuff egg. Usagi-chan's. Puffy's, apparently. I wonder if it'll be anything like the parent.

[ That's your egg? Well, you have such pretty purple eyes that Natto feels this red and purple baby blanket is a good fit. Will you let him drape it around your egg? ] Leava lea.

[ Haruka watches the eggs go. ] That's an eternal debate, isn't it....?

[ Her Spritzee might have said something about Minako's Starly once, come to think of it. But Spritzee rarely has nice things to say about anybody so Haruka hasn't been putting much stock in her opinions.

The Starly egg wrenches. ] Not long now.

[She nods to Natto. Go right ahead, little guy. You're such a sweetie.]

No, not at all. It's been a while since I hatched a Pokemon, so I have to say I'm a little excited.

[So formal. So, so formal.]

And I've never really spent a lot of time around a Jigglypuff or any of that evolutionary line. Do you know much about them?

Aside from the singing? [ Can't say she does. Natto carefully wraps the egg, then pats it on the "head" for good measure. What a good egg you are. He hopes you'll like the world. ] Leavanny.

[ The Starly egg twirls around in its blanket. Apparently whoever's inside is beginning to explore... ]

Right...they do do that, don't they?

[This could be awkward...]

Looks like yours is about to hatch. [A laugh.] How much is Natto going to mother the baby, do you think?
