Log Deputy: Nerdo (

Nerdorama)
Participating Characters: Rise Kujikawa, Asemu Asuno, Kaito, Ichiro Ogami, Sakura Shinguji, John Egbert, Lucas, Jinxie Tenma
Plot Description: Earthquake leads minor celebrity to getting in way over her head, so it's time for a dramatic rescue and a sudden development of minor superpowers.
Warnings/Notes: Surprisingly none considering what this is attempting to emulate...
The first thing Rise noticed was that it was dark when she opened her eyes, followed immediately by a splitting headache as she sat up. A confusing whirlwind of thoughts started up, starting with the fact that the last thing she remembered was taking a walk, not going to bed. In that case, she wondered, why had she been asleep, and what was that under her head if it wasn't a pillow--
"Happi!"
Well, that answered that question. Rise shook her head, then regretted it, but her eyes gradually focused on Toyo, looking only slightly scraped amid what looked like the rubble of a section of street.
"Hey Toyo...," she said a little blearily. "Did I land on you? Sorry..."
Rise took a couple of deep breaths and assessed her situation. She had clearly fallen, and most of the wreckage around her did not look like freshly collapsed street. Had she fallen all the way into the Old City? Toyo being so cushiony was probably the only reason she hadn't cracked her head open. She looked up, but couldn't see the night sky or any tower lights. Whatever hole she'd fallen through was covered up now. One wave of nausea later, she checked her Warp Band. She wasn't getting much of a signal, but she didn't have any other way to ask for help, and there were distressing grinding sounds coming from the ruins around her.
"Hello? Anybody?" she asked into her Warp Band. "I think I fell."
She rubbed her head. "What happened? This looks like underground. Can anyone help?"
She shook the Warp Band a couple times to try and get a better signal, but without much effect. Then she heard the other sounds: Pokémon cries. Pained, angry, panicked, she couldn't tell, but they seemed to be coming from everywhere, and if she was in the Old City...
"I think we need to move...," she said to her Happiny and, gingerly picking her up, did her best to run.

((Rise is trapped in a section of the Old City that's mostly cut off from the surface now, along with a good number of panicking Pokémon. This is the log to come rescue her and hopefully the trapped mons as well. We have a large group so no tagging order is necessary and it's not going to be a long dungeon-crawl so I think we can just single-thread this. Thanks!))

Rise...! I'm coming! Hold on!
[After that hasty reply, she hurries toward the closest entrance she can find to Old City, accompanied by her Duskull and a Grimer that swarmed up out of the passages and just won't leave her alone. Standing at the entrance, she turns to them both with a nod.]
Be careful, both of you.
no subject
His head has been on a pillow for all of fifteen minutes when the Warp Band comes to life.]
Underground...?
[...There was an entrance close by in this area, he knew. The signal was weak - who knew how many people it had reached?]
Sorry -- Um. Do you have any idea about where you are? I'm going to try to go down!
[He is already on his way out the door...]
no subject
--sure. never--Old City--
[It's not very effective...]
no subject
That's when he gets up.
Sure, Old City might not technically be in his jurisdiction, but Asemu is not going to simply ignore a call for help. Not when he can take action. And it's not like he'll be doing this while on duty.]
Was there a cave-in? Are you trapped?
[There's some sounds in the background. Asemu is throwing his jacket on and grabbing his rifle.]
no subject
Hello!? Can you read me!? Is your SOS beacon active? I can't see your location!
no subject
[Meanwhile, down below, Rise is moving quickly away from pretty much any noise. Neither she nor Toyo has ever been in a fight with wild Pokémon, and she's definitely afraid of getting backed into a corner by one of them.]
[Her SOS isn't firing properly, but her signal does get a fair bit clearer if people head toward Sector 3, where most of the structural damage seems to have happened.]
no subject
Dokuro, Goo, this way! Let's go!
[The others might run into her on her way.]
no subject
...Mr. Ogami?
Are you going to help, too? I'm actually in the theater right now...
Can I meet you outside?
no subject
What theater? Maybe we should all meet there and go down together.
We'll have you out of there. That's a promise!
no subject
[Once people head in the general direction of Tower D, they'll find several collapsed sections of street that seem to lead underground. There is definitely movement under there, so proceed cautiously, and I hope you brought a light source.]
no subject
This is where the earthquake did the most damage...
I hope she'll be alright.
no subject
[Jinxie sticks close behind Lucas, wanting to stay as close to the light as possible. She keeps one hand on her Warp Band just in case she needs to call in the rest of her team, but otherwise it's just Dokuro and Goo for the time being.]
I'm going to skip this ahead just a bit, apologies all
All right guys, everyone here? Let's go, we don't have much time to waste.
[And without waiting to see if anybody is behind him, he leaps down into the darkness.]
no subject
[Whatever Asemu had been expecting, it wasn't that. Well, time to play Follow the Leader.
But Asemu is going to handle this more intelligently. He calls on all three of his bird Pokémon with his Warp Band.]
Okay, guys. I need you to help me land safely down that hole.
[Asemu spreads his arm, and Bullet and Swordia each grab one of his arms. Alex, meanwhile, grabs the collar of his jacket. He jumps, and the birds all flap their wings as hard as they can to slow his descent as much as they're able to.]
no subject
[The area at the bottom of the hole is a dark, jumbled mess of the Old City and parts of the street that collapsed into it during the initial earthquake. There's no immediate sign of the distressed citizen, but there are a large number of Magnemites and Klinks milling around aggressively and occasionally bouncing off (or sticking to) each other. The movement of the rescuers gets their attention, however, and the whole group starts moving toward the humans and the exit to the surface they just came in through.]
no subject
[At the sight of the group of Steel-types, Lucas will step off to the side in case they intended to leave. He'll pause and dim his light a bit, too. A quick mental message is projected, trying to convey that they were there to help, trying to express peace and calm...]
Can anyone talk to them directly? Maybe we can ask them about Miss Rise....
no subject
[As much as Kindred Soul will allow, anyway. Jinxie cautiously steps forward.]
A friend of ours fell down here and got trapped. Have any of you seen a human come down here after the earthquakes started?
no subject
Oh...
[But when Lucas and Jinxie act, he relaxes a little and watches. Let's see if this works.]
no subject
[Jinxie does briefly get the attention of one of the Magnemites, however, which spins around to gesture definitively in the direction of one ancient alleyway that looks mostly clear of debris. Then it accidentally gets stuck to a passing Klink and is bounced up and out through the hole everyone entered through.]
no subject
[Jinxie calls after the Magnemite as it bounces up the hole before turning back to the others.]
It said to go that way.
[She points toward the passage it indicated before.]
no subject
He'll feel vaguely bad about introducing more hordes of Pokemon up to the surface, but then, they didn't seem like they were interested in attacking more than they were escaping.]
OK. Let's go!
[Being one of the two sources of light, he'll quickly make his way forward.]
no subject
Thanks. Bullet, scout ahead for us a little bit! Look and listen for anything strange!
[He breaks into a jog, following Lucas, Bullet flying ahead of him.]
no subject
[More to the point, as they proceed down the path, the rescue party will start to hear the voice they heard on the Warp Band much more clearly, but inside their heads.]
What's going on...why are they all so mad?
no subject
Asemu, on the other hand...]
What the--
[...pauses. Telepathy. The person they're searching for is a psychic. If nothing else, growing up as an Asuno taught him about psychic powers, even if he can't use them.
Which means he can't reply in kind, so to his Warp Band he goes.]
Hey! Can you hear me? Who's mad?
no subject
Oh, um -- we can hear your voice a lot more clearly when you use your powers... Maybe you should respond that way.
