09: action
1) Verdant Forest
The past few weeks, training's had to take a back seat for Kanji and his crew. Sorting out the store, organizing and making masks for Lenna's party, and the whole dream thing... yeah. (School had been crammed in there now and then. Somehow.)
In any case... time to make up for lost ground.
He's in the forest, not far from the city gates, out with some of his crew. And for some of them, it looks like change is afoot.
A Sylveon sits by his side, 'ribbons' waving slightly, as he ponders just how to give something accessories that already comes with them. In front of him, his Axew and Golett are sparring: he yells encouragement at the pair.
"C'mon, guys! You can do it!"
2) In Union
Oh, hell yeah.
This is more like it. Watch out below, Union.
Rocketing through the skies, here we see one boy and his giant mechanical ghost, Kanji holding onto and held tight by his newly-evolved Golurk. Sure, he's flown on Pokémon in the past, but never one one he's raised himself. It's been a hell of a journey, too...
So, here he is, here they are, swooping around the place - leaving a trail of cheers and apologies behind (and probably some destruction, too, as the Golurk gets the hang of steering its own flight)... and okay, eventually, they'll be landing.

Re: 1)
[He turns to look as he hears the voice.]
Hey, man. ...Okay, guys, let's take five.
1)
It's a good day to be out training, isn't it?

Well, ya know what they say. No time like the present, huh?

But he simply liked exploring too much, and he accepted a while ago that, in some ways, his pokemon knew more than he did.
...Not that he didn't try.]
It is. That's why we're outside today instead of catching up on some other things that we need to do.

[A bit of a shrug there. Eh, he can't really talk, mind.]
You up to anythin'?

I was just out for a jog with Hanako here, brainstorming. Actually, I was trying to come up with a plan to get everyone into better shape, myself including.
...As you probably figured out, I don't have a lot of experience with actual battles. Most of my pokemon don't either.

[Not even for all of his Pokémon. Scratching his head briefly-]
Could give ya a few tips, I guess. But what works for me ain't gonna work for everyone.

[The most obvious of which was the fact that Kanji clearly knew how to handle himself in a fight, and was Enlightened on top of that. Rei was a mathematics nerd who could pole vault, but didn't even know how to swim.
Not that comparison ever made things any better. Rei merely wanted to keep things in perspective, and he didn't wish to hold any of his friends back if they ended up in another crisis.
The little Vulpix, noticing Rei's distraction, rubbed her head against his leg. Chuckling, Rei knelt down to pick her up and gently scratch behind her velvety ears.]
Out of curiosity, what does work for you?
[Maybe he could take notes to better prepare a strategy in the future.]

[He's never really thought about it before. Looking at his gathered Pokémon -]
Guess I try'n find stuff that they're as excited about as I am. Find stuff in common with 'em.

[Now he was really curious, especially since he had a sizeable band of water types to work with-- most of whom were pranksters who liked to play instead of work hard.]

..I think I understand. There's always something that we can find to do, and there's plenty of ways to help if another fight happens in the future.
[Maybe they could make it a cooperative effort, since a few of Rei's pokemon understood how these things worked better than himself or the others. It seemed a little strange....but, everything involving pokemon ended up becoming a little strange at some point.]

Yes, I know. And...thank you. I don't know what I would have done without you and Feliks-san and a few days ago. It was a mess, one that proved that sometimes you have no choice but to try to get better at the things you aren't very good at.

...Maybe that's why trainers sometimes travel in groups. Sure, everyone has pokemon who can help if they get stuck in a jam, but everyone has their own strengths too.
