Mission Outline

bravenewmodsAs volunteers begin to emerge within the cities, the council calls a meeting within the council chamber. The room is packed to capacity as the volunteer force, along with the Rangers, Swords of the Savior, Guardsmen, Valkyries, Steel Battalion, Rock Legion, and even some Refuge Earth Arms gather. Seated at the center of the gathering is General Ironborn, a number of diagrams and maps of the city of Sanctuary and troop positionings on the wall behind him. Once everyone is seated, he begins to speak.
“Greetings, everyone. We are grateful for everyone who has gathered here today to help liberate Sanctuary from the Gigas forces. The city leaders and military have convened and we have determined a plan with which to move forward. What you see here today is an expression of our collective will and power, and with it, we will triumph!”
“There are ten different needs to be fulfilled, and we will be designating squads for all of them. After we leave here today, convene amongst yourselves and determine what interests you, I will post official sign-ups twenty four hours after our meeting concludes here today.”
“The first mission is diplomatic. We will obtain diplomatic passage into the city and demand the freedom of Sanctuary. You will be meeting with the Gigas commanders, but we will make sure you have a link to our communications network. This is at Union’s insistence, we will give them every opportunity to withdraw and we will continue to strike at their forces until they agree to do so. This team will be the expression of our will, and you will convince Gigas that it is in their best interest to leave. Should you remain unsuccessful, we will take the Gigas leaders prisoner once we have finished liberating the city.”
“The second mission is to operate the Command Center. We will be using signal enhancements to keep everyone wired to the communication network at all times. The crew in the Command Center will deliver information to the other groups and assist them with their mission. They will be especially important in supporting the diplomats, as they will be able to tell them how successful the other attack missions have been.”
“The third mission is among the citizenry. While our operations are underway, we expect some panic in the streets, your job will be to calm everybody and keep things peaceful so we can move about the city and do what need be done. This, as well as the first two missions, we do not expect any major combat operations, so those who do not wish to take part in fighting but still wish to assist are encouraged to join one of these three.”
“The fourth mission is the tunnels. Gigas soldiers are patrolling them, and while they haven’t discovered all of the new tunnels, it’s only a matter of time before they do. This group will sweep the Gigas forces out of the tunnels, capturing or… otherwise incapacitating any hostiles beneath the city.”
“The fifth mission will be to reclaim the main gates from the city. There are two guard houses on the east and west side of the city, it is imperative that we neutralize them and close the gate so Gigas reinforcements cannot enter the city.”
“The sixth mission will be to capture the Gigas Weapons facility within the city. So long as this stands, Gigas will have an ample supply of armaments. If we capture this facility, we can turn their own weaponry against them. Remember, this facility is still staffed by Sanctuary citizens, and we must make sure that they are not harmed in the combat.”
“The seventh mission is the liberation of the Council of Magi, who ruled Sanctuary much as Union’s own Council does here. They are accompanied at all times by Gigas representatives and their actual power within the city is nominal. The Gigas representatives must be removed so the rebels can have a clear line of communication with their leaders.”
“The eighth mission will be targeting the prison. We have reason to believe that many powerful Magi and political dissidents have been imprisoned within the special jail Gigas has constructed. Our sources say that the area is always blacked out and no admittance is allowed of anybody. Many citizens have disappeared, especially recently, and we aim to liberate them.”
“The ninth mission targets a nearby Gigas outpost where most of the soldiers receive their supplies. The outpost sends regular caravans every few days, we need to stop the current caravan and reclaim the outpost.”
“Finally, the tenth mission will involve bringing some special forces into the city. Gigas has banned certain avenues of Sanctuary’s arcane studies, but those studies have continued in secret. We have a connection with the current command center, and they have some forces that can assist in liberating the city. You will escort them through behind the tunnel party and protect them until they can be unleashed.”
“These are the tasks we have before us. I open the floor to questions. Remember, you will be able to sign-up twenty-four hours after we conclude our meeting. The floor is now open.”
