[Asemu had been in the process of answering a distress call coming from the Inner Wildwoods. Unfortunately, he himself had gotten into a sticky situation.

As anyone who might be nearby can see, he's surrounded by a huge swarm of the various Pokémon that can be found in the forest. He, as well as his own Pokémon, are fighting valiantly for themselves, but there are simply too many enemies. Even with his beam sabers and his rifle, Asemu can only do so much.

But then, a Shadow Ball flies out and hits his rifle, destroying it. Asemu draws his second beam saber and crosses blades with the Haunter that fired it, only for a second Haunter to grab him from behind.]

What?!

[The Haunter he'd been attacking grabs Asemu's beam sabers -- which extinguish as soon as they leave his hands -- and slams them into each other, breaking them into pieces. And try as he might, Asemu can't escape the Haunter's clutches.]

No...no! I'm NOT meeting my end here!

[Music.]

At that moment, Asemu begins to glow. A familiar feeling overcomes him.

Evolution.

Suddenly, a pair of fiery wings erupt from Asemu's shoulders. They shoot through the Haunter holding him, causing it to recoil and shriek in pain. The other Haunter tries to descend upon Asemu, but he throws a hand out and fires a beam from nothing but his palm. The Haunter takes the hit full-on and immediately pulls back.

The glow fades, and Asemu stands there, wings of fire dissipating and still holding his hand out. A Ninjask immediately gets in his face, but Asemu fires another beam -- no. This one isn't leaving his hand. It's more like a beam saber. The other hand makes another beam saber blade, and Asemu immediately enters into extremely fast close combat with the Ninjask. Ultimately, Asemu proves superior, then when the rest of the swarm comes down on him, he re-forms the wings of fire and lets beams shoot from his hands as fast as he can manage.

The scene dies down quickly. All of the Pokémon that had been attacking Asemu and his team have fainted. Asemu stands in the middle, breathing heavily.]

[Video, later]

[It's Asemu, but he looks a little different. His hair is a little longer, especially in the front and the back, and he looks a little more mature (though not quite the late 20s he is in this picture). He also appears to be somewhere in the Wildwoods.]

I never thought I'd actually do it. If anyone reached the third tier in my family, it should have been Dad. But...here I am. It saved my life, too.

I feel a lot more confident now with how to deal with the problems going on now, too. I don't need tools to use my powers any more, and I can solo a bunch of enemies at once. I just did, actually.

I'll be checking out the rolling plains when I get the chance. If there really are swarms of bugs flying around, I'm probably the best bet we have for taking care of them.

[ Hello world! The Whimsicott greets everyone with a wave and an introduction, in Pokéspeak. Her name is Chu-chu, and chu you should totally know who she is, but if you don't, then there's that out of the way. Normally she wouldn't take her human's warp band, but she needs help. Help of the romantic variety.

You see, she is a lady in love. Her beau is impossibly handsome, heroic, charismatic--a real charmer--artistic, and so many other things that she goes on and on and on about. Honestly it's hard to say if someone like that even exists in something other than storybooks. But it's her story and that's how she's telling it.

Normally, she would be able to win his heart, they would confess their undying affection for one another and walk off paw and hand into the sunset, but there's a problem. He doesn't realize he's in love with her. What is a maiden in love supposed to do? Her destined love, her soul mate in every sense of the word, doesn't realize that he is the one for her.

And what's more, there's another woman elbowing in on her turf. She's a nice girl to be sure--a little plain looking, the poor dear--but she doesn't know how to tell her that she doesn't stand a chance. She has to let her down easy, obviously, because Chu-chu is such a kind, gentle, caring soul.

So she needs advice. Help her and she'll surely invite you to their extravagant fairy tale wedding! It's a win-win situation! ]


[ ACTION ]

[ While Chu-chu is having fun confessing her undying affection to a string bean with a ponytail, Elly can be found about the city, making rounds. Stopping at one of the cafes around town, she appears to be focusing on opportunity boards, particularly those with housing listings. Someone's apparently looking to move up in the world. ]

[Odd environmental effects aside, Union has obviously dealt with much worse in the past. There's probably not much to be concerned about. Around mid-afternoon, the Warp Band network flickers on to display the faces of some guests who will surely put Union's mind at ease. They may be vaguely familiar to those who have been in Union for a while: one, a fiery-haired man in a well-pressed suit, and the other a young scientist in a lab coat bearing an expression liable to curdle milk.]

Good afternoon, Union.

[Crystal tries to appear generally congenial, although it looks just a bit forced. It seems someone didn’t realize the feed started a few seconds before it did.]

It’s been a long time. I’m glad to see this city is just as charming as I remember it.

For those of you who don’t know us, I am Rory Donnachaidh, and the two of us represent Team Evolution. We were conducting experiments in this area around a year ago and stumbled across your fair city.

[Yes, thank you for not introducing her, Rory. She gives her colleague a cool smile before engaging the feed again.]

And I am Doctor Crystal Verdine. We are here to make sure there haven’t been any further repercussions after the accident so many months ago. The likelihood of that happening is very slim, of course, but it’s better safe than sorry.

Yes - just ensuring that our… activities did not result in further harm to the area around Union. We’ve received permission from your Council, of course.

Unfortunately, that means that we will be inconveniencing you for a little while.

We’ll be staying a few days. Of course, we understand your sentiments about our technology, so we’ll do our best to refrain from using it openly while we visit.

[Rory tries to look sympathetic, though it seems he’s smiling faintly.]

Rory and I enjoyed our brief stay the last time, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to find one of us. Unfortunately, we don’t have any plans for more flashy displays this time. [Said a bit pointedly to her colleague. Someone was a show off the last time they were there.] To that end, if you notice anything odd in or around the city, please let us know. [And the feed flickers off. Rory and Crystal can now be found around Union or addressed directly through the band.]

[Here's Nico at the Flower Grove again, though she isn't dancing and she doesn't look as bright and happy this time. She's obviously sort of worried, and not about to stay quiet on why.]

These things are so gross.

[She points the warp band around at the ground, where there's a large circle of mushrooms. Actually, it's apparent she's filming it from a safe distance away.]

Does anyone know what's up with them? It's not even like it's been that rainy here lately...

[The camera view turns back to her and she sighs looking around.]

Anyway, that's not what I turned this on to talk about though... so, you know how some pokemon can only evolve with the help of certain items? Like... moonstone or sunstone... does anyone know where you can find those? Or get them?

[Guess whose team almost entirely consists of pokemon that can't evolve naturally?]

[ Nozomi will assume that Rory and Crystal have been going through the usual channels on the warp band, and while she isn't the best at filtering things, she will certainly give it a try. That being said, it's likely easy to crack, but that doesn't mean she is going to be entirely clear about what her intentions are with this posting. ]

I hope our guests aren't bothering too many people around here. I didn't go to Caldera when we got the first distress signal, so I can assume things with this Rory guy went all right. I don't hear too many people grumbling, and no matter where they're from, they tried to smooth things over with Gigas and Caldera. We should treat them the way only Unionites can.

[ The tone of voice insinuating that people should interpret that however they want. Noncommittal responses are the best. ]

I wanna urge people to be careful out there, especially with all the reports from the rangers coming in. I've been given permission to sell some of the Tenma family's famous protective wards and charms just in case, and I'll be offering readings free of charge for anyone planning on heading out there. I can't guarantee 100 percent success, but my fortunes never lie. They might help.
