Hello everyone! I hope you had a good new year. Hopefully this year will bring more good things to us and our neighbors. Last year was certainly exciting, and I get the feeling that this year will prove even more so.

On that, I have something of an announcement. I've been working on a project for quite some time now, and while I haven't been able to talk about it at length before, I'm finally allowed to speak a bit on it. I'm actually fairly excited.

Back in the summer, the Seekers chapters in Union and Caldera began doing research into a piece of technology known as a Pokédex. In old times, it acted as a portable compendium for pokémon, able to identity different species and dispense information on the fly. We were able to uncover some schematics and parts from the Old City, and since then have been working night and day to see if we could replicate this device in some way, shape or form.

Until recently, we were stumped. We could compile the information and place it into a database, but we couldn't figure out how to make it portable. However, after speaking with the elders at Refuge, we were able to uncover quite a few interesting parts. With these, we believe we'll be able to make something usable soon!

This is a call to any interested engineering types and delvers. We need a bit of help for the final push, to help figure out how to combine the database with the warp band's interface, and to either go through or retrieve more parts. We are also in need of those willing to help gather and compile information about various species of pokémon for the project.

While I'm certainly not the only one working on this, if you are interested, please let me know so that I can direct you to where you need to go. Thank you everyone and have a great new year!

[VOICE | PRIVATE]

[The message is the same, but is sent separately to Lenna and Natalia.]

Hey, when are you available next? I wanted to talk about a few things.

[ACTION]

[To say that she was thoroughly and completely over her head was a bit of an understatement.

Walking around the business district, Lux focused on the more fashionable shops and boutiques. This was more Camille's domain, but the blond mentioned wanting to take care of things by herself; it was probably a bit mistake. She didn't know the first thing about being fashionable, outside of a few very basic rules that her Dragonite taught her. Even then, those were very skewed, and more often than not Camille had a taste for the dramatic.

Sure, every girl envisioned what her dream wedding might look like, and Lux was no different--even with her previous circumstances. But the individual pieces were never solid in her mind, and sending her out to find what she wanted was overwhelming to say the least. She could see a small benefit in letting her family plan the whole thing.

Staring through the shop window at some extravagant dress that likely weighed more than she did, she let out a long sigh. This was harder than she thought.]

I think I need a break...

[An older, white haired man with a push-broom mustache appears, somewhat out of frame, the footage recorded at a odd angle]

"Hello?" Gordon asks. "Hello? Is this thing working?"

[The video goes a little warbly, nicotine stained fingers occasionally obstructing the view, as if the warp band is being adjusted inexpertly. The sound of a Pokémon being summoned is heard off screen.]

"Squir?"

[Gordon lets out the wordless grumble of an elder trying not to swear, and turns to yell off the side of the screen.]

"Barbara! I think I broke this stupid thing!"

[A beat, with a feminine voice heard, muffled by distance.]

"I'm trying to send that video thing," Gordon says, leaning back as a feminine, youthful hand comes briefly into frame, the video getting briefly worse, badly garbling something the feminine voice says, and then clearing up.]

"Okay, right. Uh, hello?" Gordon says, looking with frustration at the gadget. "This is James Gordon, and my daughter tells me, now that I have one of these bands, I should post a--"

[Gordon is cut off by a Squirtle face filling the screen, making some faces before Gordon pushes him out of the way.]

"Mike! Stop. Go bother Barbara. She should be feeding Rex."

[Gordon waits, watching something off camera leave, quickly from the looks of it.]

"Right. Where was I? James Gordon, newly bonded. Hello."

[When Pamela appears on the warp band’s video feed she looks a little tired and exasperated. She’s sitting in a room at home, and several of her Pokemon can be seen in the background.]

How do you correct persistent behaviour problems? I’ve tried explaining things, I’ve tried positive reinforcement and I’ve tried taking away privileges, but it’s still continued. In a couple of cases, the problem behaviour is hazardous for others, so that’s what I need the most help with.

[As if to punctuate her point, Tulip the Pumpkaboo is spinning in the background and fires off Confusion. Luckily for Pamela, Lily, her Gardevoir, is prepared. The video cuts out for a moment as Lily teleports Pamela out of harm’s way. Instead, Marigold the Combusken is struck and Pamela has to scramble to keep him from setting her couch cushions on fire. After a couple of chaotic moments, she returns her attention to the warp band.]

See what I mean? Any helpful advice you can offer would be appreciated.

[She turns back to Tulip, raising an eyebrow.]

Tulip, sweetie, we talked about this. Spinning around is one thing, but firing off Confuse Ray like that? It’s not okay.

Action

[Pamela’s Gastly, Crocus, is extremely possessive of his “mommy”. So possessive, in fact, that he surrounds her with toxic gas anytime someone gets close to her just to make sure everyone knows that she is his. ...it’s a very good thing that her evolved Enlightened abilities include a complete immunity to poison.

Rather than hacking, coughing and being weakened by the poison gas, Pamela just facepalms and sighs.

Not again.

[It had been a small thing, to get this gift together, but he had a good feeling about it. He was never one big for these kinds of holidays, but when it came to people he cared about, he tried to do his best.]

[Ankh? Well. Ankh was someone he had a hard time putting into words. He was frustrating, arrogant, prickly, and unfriendly but at the same time he knew that there was a lot more below the surface. He also knew that there had been a change in the nasty little Fletchling he brought home injured a few months ago.]

[Honestly, he had every intention of trying to nudge him back to the wilds but it really did look like Ankh had found a home here. So, Eiji would just accept that.]

[Ankh likely wouldn't get that, but that's sort of part of what this gift was about- it was a means of sharing the holiday with him, who he knew had probably never celebrated it before, but also it was kind of a means of letting him know that this was his home. He was apart of their strange little family.]

[He sent Hina out to go collect him and lead him back into the main room of the shrine. Eiji has a small wrapped package in his hands.]

Action, Union:

[With Salvation over and a new year beginning, Yukiko means to make the most of it. Temporarily staying with a friend has been good for her, and it's giving her parents a little time to calm down. Daily band calls and commentary on her progress are probably helping, but she's still not returning. Not for the time being.

Though, she's not trying to be a disrespectful or troublesome daughter, so before she heads off on her first lengthy trip she makes a stop by the Spa and home for an hour or two to offer to help out...and she's surprised to find that she's not being fussed at. And that she's not being pushed to work. There's still a little tension, but her father at least seems to understand. She's growing up, and she does need to work out her own life.

Customers are free to bump into her, though all she's doing is checking in guests for a bit today.

After she feels like she's done enough, she says her goodbyes, gathers up her Pokemon, and heads out into the city to gather supplies. A backpack, heavy gloves, food, and a few other things are on the agenda, and will take her the remainder of the morning to get together. She's in a bit of a hurry in addition to distracted, and Jiraya and Tohil the Helioptile are both excited to be going on a trip, so it's entirely possible one or more of them may bump into someone or something!

Once all that's done, Yukiko's off, marching purposefully out the Eastern gates and the mountains.]

Action: Mountains/Locked to Son Goku

[A piercing, feminine shriek echoes across the frozen landscape, accompanied by a bone-jarring roar. The Pokemon's battlecry is followed by the sounds of a nearby fight, and one that's clearly not going terribly well for the girl involved.]

Video

[A video feed clicks on right at dusk to show a bedraggled Yukiko holding a roughed up looking Cubchoo in her arms. She's dirty, a little scuffed up, with a dab of dried blood on her flushed cheek. And she's glowing. The whole feed is, intense light absolutely flooding the camera like a midday sun. And despite her and the Cubchoo's apparently state of disarray, she's smiling serenely.]

I...think I evolved. If the glow is any indication of that, anyway. But is there any way to really tell? [She looks down at the little bear in her arms, and it wiggles cutely, happy for more attention.] We'll be back in Union soon, and...

[Her stomach gurgles and she trails off, clearly embarrassed and obviously famished.]

And...um, are there any good buffets that are open late?
