What: True adult sisters of Kurain receive protective magatamas. It's time to let Nozomi know she's really officially part of the family.
When: Day 2 of Soul Fast
Where: Kurain School's Winding Way (the garden part)



[It's the second day of Soul fast, and everything is in full swing. Maya has seemed to be on cloud nine since it started; it's going well, and nothing can get her down.

Of course, the success of Soul Fast doesn't mean the recent issues with the Dream World are off her mind. She's been thinking about doing something for Nozomi for a while, and her disappearance seals the deal.

It's something she plans to do for Jinxie, too, one day-- when she's older, when she has realised the potential she has. But Nozomi's older, and Nozomi isn't blood. It must be difficult for her, Maya knows, and if there are any remaining doubts, Maya is sure such a gesture will dispel them.

So, on the second day of Soul Fast, Maya takes a break from chaperoning and invites Nozomi to the Winding Way for a short break.

When Nozomi enters, she'll find Maya sitting cross-legged and petting Kika's head, a small, fancily wrapped box next to her.

[A bit surprised that Maya would take time out from the festivities to spend time with her instead of getting some much needed rest, Nozomi made sure to pick up some sweets along the way, as well as some new tea that she had been meaning to try.

Letting herself in, she doesn't seem to notice the box right away. She smiles at the Sawsbuck and sits down.]

I brought some tea and wagashi from the festival. I don't know if you've gotten a chance to try anything yet.

Have I ever mentioned you're the best, Nomimi?

[She doesn't care if she's tried them already or not; sweets are sweets, and tea is tea. She gestures to a spot beside her, taking the box and putting it in her lap.]

I have something for you, too.

A few times, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't tell me more often.

[She's teasing of course. Nozomi takes a seat next to Maya, looking a bit surprised. She smiles.]

Oh? What is it? Something from the festival?

Nope! This is something special, juuust from me.

[But then she pulls it to her chest, looking coyly at Nozomi.]

Do you reeeally want it?

Are you going to make me beg?

[Please don't make her beg, Mayocchi.]

Naaaah. Not this time, anyway.

I'm just pulling your leg.

[She hands it Nozomi's way, gently, as not to shake the box.

Within it, should Nozomi choose to open it immediately, is a magatama on a necklace. It's smaller than a channeller's magatama, and appears to be made from a translucent, dark green stone.]

[She gives Maya an amused look before unwrapping the gift. She opens the box and stops, looking up at Maya with a deerling-in-the-headlights expression on her face.]

But this is--

...For members of my family.

[Maya puts on a much more calm smile than her usual, placing her hands in her lap.]

Nozomi... No matter what, this is your home, okay? And you're just as much my family as any Fey would be.

[Nozomi takes the magatama from the box and very gently places it into her hand. Setting the box down, she cups both hands around the necklace, staring down at it. It's hard to say what goes through her mind, but it's very obvious that she's trying hard to keep from crying.

Taking in a deep breath, she finally looks up, smiling brightly, tears in the corners of her eyes.]

Mayocchi, thank you.

[Even if it brings tears to Maya's eyes, too, she shakes her head, keeping that grin on, and ignores them.]

Well, come on! Let me put it on you, turn around for me!

[She leans forward on her knees, gesturing with her hands.]

[Nozomi turns around, inching toward Maya.]

How long had you been planning this?

Maaaybe a little while now.

But... when you disappeared, I knew I shouldn't wait anymore.

[She connects the ends of the magatama around Nozomi's neck, smiling gently.]

I just didn't want anything bad happening before you got this.

[Nozomi pulls her pigtails out from underneath the beaded chain. She turns, her smile surprisingly shy.]

So? What do you think?

Pretty stinkin' cute if I say so myself.

[She says so with a big grin, leaning forward to straighten the chain up just a little.]

((OOC: Sorry, school and then family happened.))

[She pauses, smiling a bit shyly, holding the magatama in her hand delicately and looking at it.]

You really didn't have to go through the trouble, you know.

[Feigning a pout, Maya crosses her arms.]

You're as good as a sister to me. I had to.

[Mayocchi that's not fair. You're not allowed to get all mushy on her like this. She doesn't quite know what to say.]
