[Well someone certainly looks smug. That someone is your not-so-friendly neighborhood Shit Bird, and there's something a little different about him today. He's always had random feathers mixed into his wild curled mop of hair, but today there appear to be more of them than usual. There is also some very minor scaling along his jaw and the sides of his neck that wasn't there before, and when he brings one hand up to smooth the side of his index finger against his lower lip his hands are more drastically bird-like than they were.]

So while all of you were off dreaming about nothing and everything, I've been actually accomplishing things in my life.

[He sets the Warp Band down, video feed still on, and grins crookedly before shifting. Except he doesn't shift into a Fletchling like most knew he was-- instead he's a Fletchinder. And a very, very proud-looking one, at that.]

[For anyone at the Hikawa Shrine, this is all taking place just out front, and there's now a smug Fletchling strutting around in front of the video feed of his Warp Band like a pleased chicken.]

[He squawks, irritated, and uses a talon to shut off the video feed, snatching the Band and flying over to Eiji with it.]

[He probably drops it conveniently on his head.]

No, it's mine. I have Pokemon now.

[Huff! Eiji ducks as the band is dropped on his head and he catches it with a disgruntled expression.]

[Hold up.]

You bonded with other Pokemon?

[At that particular moment, Ankh's Shuppet, whom he may or may not have taken to calling "Spooky" for lack of anything better to call it, meanders down the hall with a pillowcase over its head, wailing quietly like a ghost. Ankh peers pointedly at it, expression flat.]

"Bonded" may not be the right word, yet.

[There's a stiffling silence as Eiji turns and watches the floating pillowcase pass their doorway with muffled "oooOOOoooohh"s in the distance.]

Awww.

I think it's in the midst of some kind of existential crisis. I don't know Ghost types, but I'm pretty sure it's trying to be scary.

[He sounds a little vexed by this.]

I suppose it wants to get into the spirit of the upcoming holiday? I recently bonded with a ghost type, I could see if the two will talk and maybe suss out the issue.

[But really, it's being really fucking adorable. Hehehe.]

If it gets him to stop making that awful noise, sure.

[How is a bird capable of looking this irritated.]

[He pulls out the bag he walked in the door with.]

I have something for you.

[Presents? He likes presents. He tries to not look interested.]

Oh?

[He digs in the bag and pulls out......!!]

[A mask! It's a few different masks, even. Pokemon masks of a few ghost and dark type varieties.]

[Specifically he sets the Banette mask down in front of him.]

There's a festival coming up and my work is selling masks. I brought some home for you to choose from. You can have one.

[Blink.]

[This... sort of requires hands. He tilts his head and hops back a few feet, shifting and somehow miraculously having clothing on. We'll assume that if he shifts wearing something it stays when he shifts back. Magical Shifter hammerspace. Or something. He wastes no time in crouching forward to claim the Banette mask presented to him, turning it over in his hands. He isn't especially Ghost-type savvy, but...]

...Banette, yes?

I thought that one might be the most fitting.

[ 8) ]

[He is giving you such a face right now.]

[But he's also snatching the mask and setting it off-center on the crown of his head.]

[Not a bad fit, really. He pulls out a few more masks- they're smaller. Pokemon-sized, in fact. He glances up and a moment later Hina flutters in to land on his shoulder.]

Here, these are for the others.

[She chirps, takes them in her beak and flies off again. Eiji got masks for all his pokemon, okay. Don't look at him. His own mask is probably still in the bag. It's a Pumpkaboo mask.]

[He squints when Hina flies away and looks after her for a long moment, and then lunges forward to claim Eiji's mask to see what it is. He picks it up, holds it for a minute, and laughs in a very sneering way.]

It's certainly dumb-looking enough for you. Can I ask you something? [He probably puts the Pumpkaboo mask on the other side of his head as the Banette one, looking entirely ridiculous.]

[He shouts as Ankh lunges for his bag. He frowns and then looks affronted. He tries to snatch it back from him.]

I'd better not catch you saying that around Eclair, she'll eat all your food.

[Huff. He scowls.]

Oh, hush. Just because the mask will be dumb-looking on you doesn't mean she's dumb. That's a trait nearly entirely reserved for you.

[Swatting Eiji's hand if he's still going for the mask, he settles back forward.]

What level is Hina?

[swat swat swat growl.]

[Though that's an abrupt pauses and a confused blink at his question. He tilts his head.]

Hina? Ah... its hard to say- she's pretty high, though.

[His eyes narrow.]

How can you not know what level she is? You're bonded with her, you're supposed to know.

I haven't really thought to ask her. We train, but we don't really train for the purpose of battling or anything. If you want a number though I would definitely say in her 30's.

[It seems a little odd that Ankh is so concerned over this.]

[He's staring. And his eyes have narrowed more again.]

How much do you know about her? Her type, her attacks. Her, say, evolutions. [He makes a rather pointed once-over of himself.]

[He sort of starts to raise an eyebrow.]

I know everything she deems necessary to share with me.

[He tips his head- and not in the confused way. More in the "I see you doing something and I don't like it."]

What's this about?

[He pulls the Pumpkaboo mask off of his head in a fluid motion, holding it out to Eiji.]

Fletchlings are supposed to evolve into Fletchinders at level seventeen. She's stronger than I am. I evolved before her. Something's wrong.

[That was. Surprisingly to the point.]

[He blinks, stupidly for a moment while those words sink in. He takes the mask and averts his eyes, looking quiet and thoughtful.]

[He hadn't really thought about it, but it really did seem like Hina should have evolved by now. She was stronger than Ankh and yet-]

I. She's never mentioned to me anything about not wanting to evolve. I don't know why she hasn't.

Did she react when I evolved? [It's funny because the words could be taken as concerned, but his tone is so flat he just sounds like he's reading from cue cards.]
