in my long forgotten cloistered sleep [DREAM LOG]
[ The world is asleep -- the night hangs high with their stars glittering and decorating the deep blue velvet sky. Usagi is out at the edge of the Verdant Forest and the Rolling Plains, laying on the ground with Pinky the Clefairy laying next to her. In the tree next to them preening her feathers, is Lucky the Talonflame while Turnip the Gloom is napping underneath the same tree that Lucky has taken over.
Luna the Meowstic is curled up on her chest and Kira the Carbink seems to have taken upon itself to be the camp watch -- ready to
But, Usagi's attentions are purely focused on the sky above and the giant crescent moon that's lighting the world below with its silvery light. ]
Man, you can't get this kind of view in the city, huh?
[ It's a question that's partially directed to Pinky, who coos a Fairy! in response, but, really, it's to anyone else that wants to answer. ]
[ This was the destined day! That cake shop that Usagi had seen during her shopping trips had finally opened its doors! Of course, she had been one of the first customers waiting in the long line, having heard that this store's pastries and sweets were to die for and now that she was finally inside, Pinky sitting on the chair across from her at their designated table, she couldn't wait until their treats were brought over!
A few moments pass, and a waiter (and a cute one at that) finally brings an array of cakes for Usagi, as well as a few poke puffs for the Clefairy before sliding away. ]
It looks so good! Come on, Pinky! Let's dig in!
[ Usagi's first choice just so happens to be this delicious looking Strawberry Shortcake, and forking off a piece, quickly shoves it into her mouth to taste the deliciousness!
... except what she tastes isn't a sponge cake or whipped cream or strawberries. No. What she tastes is the distinct flavor of carrots. ]
EW!
[ Odd. Usagi then tries her other cakes, only to find they all taste like carrots. Which wouldn't be such a bad thing... if she didn't hate carrots. So, there's really only one thing that Usagi can do in this situation, as Pinky just chews happily away on her own food. ]
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
[ It's something that Usagi's never had before when her dreams usually consist of bright colorful worlds or the usual first world problem dreams like all the food that she consumes tasting like carrots.
Darkness. Complete and utter black.
The only thing bright in this world is her. ]
Hello?! [ Her voice echoes through the nothingness, and unlike before when she was in the Dream World, while filled with ghost pokemon and had some sort of life energy.. this place is empty and soundless. Panic sets quickly inside of Usagi as she starts to run through this lifeless world.. hoping that she finds something... something.. anything to help her out.
But then, there's something off in the distance and instead of running aimlessly, her new goal was to see what that lonely bright object is. She notices that it's a mirror floating amidst the dark and hesitates to look into it... She does though -- and what reflects is someone that is her, but isn't. A little taller. A little older. Silver hair, but most peculiarly a golden upturned crescent mark in the middle of her forehead. ]
Woah! Is that me? No way!
[ Usagi does a few poses in the mirror, because wow the maybe her in the mirror definitely had a better figure than her (but that's just what happens when you get older right? You fill out in the places that matter?), and then leans forward to inspect the thing in the middle of her forehead. Right as she's about to touch it, she notices the reflection of a Small-sized Pumpkaboo staring straight at her.
She doesn't have enough time to react because as soon as she turns to try and face the pokemon, there's a sudden flash and the world ripples -- changes around her. Soon, it's not the black silence she had been racing through. It's a town that, by the looks of it, has been recently decimated. There are still some buildings that are smoldering from fire. Others have been razed to the ground but that's not what frightens her the most. What she sees are pokemon and humans alike, laying unmoving and unbreathing on the ground. There's no doubt about what she's seeing...
They were dead.
Usagi's mouth opens to start screaming, trying to back away from what she's seeing and feeling when she bumps back into a wall with a mostly standing glass window. There was that reflection again -- that person that was her but wasn't.. except when she looks down, she lifts up on of her long tails to watch as the pale silver strands fall between her fingers. Her hand pulls away from her hair as if it's burning her hand, and steps back until she's in the middle of what was supposed to be the main road through this small town. What was going on? Who was she? Was she alone? Why was she here? ]
W-why... I don't... I don't want this... I don't want this at all!
[ ooc: herp derp I should have mentioned this before, but dream III is meant for anyone who has history dating before the savior, so, feel free to have your characters (or past versions of them) go who the eff is this chick crying in the middle of a razed town. Other wise, dream I and dream II are ripe for the hilarious and friendly picking!
also content warning with dream III: violence and death of both human and pokemon alike. ]

[Rei swallows hard at that, her strokes not abating in the slightest. It's a difficult question to answer. But honestly? Usagi needs the truth, if she hadn't already worked it out.]
A dream of the past. During the Cataclysm. The war with the gods. It's only a dream, but it's...a memory too. Something we all shared, long ago.
[The leather of her armor creaks slightly as she shifts, looking up through the veil at a demolished house and the broken shell of a Voltorb, and her head shakes. So much senseless violence, for pride and man's hubris.]
Have you had dreams like this before?
no subject
But, it's Rei telling her these things. So, she has to at least try and accept that it must be while she's being comforted like a small child who acts like she just felt something underneath her bed. ]
I don't get it. We? Who's we? Just you and me? Are there other people who dream this terrible stuff too?
[ Seeing something so terrible.. Usagi wouldn't want to wish this kind of fate on anyone, even though it's out of her hands to try and prevent. ]
No! This is the first dream I've ever had like this! .... [ That answer is said so quickly, but the silence that follows means that Usagi's really thinking about it. She hasn't had those dreams per say. All of her glimpses into a different world were are all brief and fleeting and overshadowed by the now of their present life.
It's easy to tell that the gears are slowly clicking into place in her mind as she tries to recall those moments. ]
... but, when you guys were saving me in the Old City... when I was up in the air because of the Drifloons? I saw the ruins and I felt like I had seen something like it before... and that you guys would help me like you always do, even though that was the first time we were all together like that.

[She swallows and looks skyward, up towards the murky peak of the dome. And then she shakes her head, letting that braid sway to and fro.]
Haruka-san and Michiru-san. And they tell me Hotaru-san is the same. But…there are others too. I think that everyone in the Old City is the same. Minako-chan I know for certain, but…Ami-chan and Mako-chan haven’t mentioned it to me. That’s just a guess, but I think it’s a good one.
[Rei smiles weakly and leans back down, resting her head against Usagi’s shoulder. With a heavy sigh, she keeps her fingers sliding through that silvery hair.]
I…I’ve wanted to know what those connections binding us meant for so long. And now I think I understand. We’re meant to be together, all of us. I’m not sure why, but I feel like we’ve done all this before. Like we’re always supposed to be there for one another. Like with the Drifloons, or my nightmares
no subject
But why? If... if this is supposed to be what happened back during when the Savior saved everyone... why are we having these dreams?
[ Usagi doesn't understand the concept of reincarnation as well as a lot of other things. But, being held so close is doing its best to keep that panic at bay... and she squeezes Rei just a little tighter. ]
I didn't need dreams or anything like that to want to be friends with you guys!
[ Perhaps they were connected by the bonds of destiny, but it didn't change just how in place everything was when they were all together at Ami's birthday party. All nine of them and their pokemon just hanging out. Being normal girls. Enjoying each others company. ]

[Rei squeezes tightly back, honestly and truly afraid of that answer. She doesn't want to be a warrior, or a hunter or any of that. She hates the idea of putting her Pokemon and her friends in danger. But somewhere, deep down, she recognizes that in this time? In this place? It's necessary.
This is the end of times, when humanity fought to even keep existing. The stylized Pokeball designs she's seen around the ruins are enough to tell her why, and while she's a good priestess and citizen of Union in this time...she's not entirely sure what she was like in this life.]
I...honestly think that we're seeing this dreams...as a warning? As a reminder maybe? As a way to tell us to get ready for something big? I...wish I could tell you the answers, Usagi-chan. But this is new to me too.
[She won't admit it ever, but she's convinced that it's because of those bonds that she was even able to make friends outside of Ninetales Vale. She'd have been okay with just the Feys...but there just wasn't the same sort of connectivity with the others. The nine of them, a group. No apocalypse or world ending. Just friends. It was a whole new dynamic for her.]
But...I think right now it's a mystery that's beyond us. What's important. What I think is really important. Is that we're there for each other. These dreams seem to be saying that, more than anything. We're supposed to be here for you. And you're supposed to be here for us. Because we're friends. Bound by fate and destiny or not...we're friends.
And friends are supposed to stand with each other, right?
[Even at the end of the world...]

It's always just been a part of the history books and lore she's grown up with. But, never in her wildest dreams had she ever imagined that in the unwritten part of that history, that she, in some form or fashion, had a hand in this terrible and life changing war. It's a lot to take in, and she's thankful of Rei's calm to her initial panic to a frantic change of scenery. ]
... yeah.
[ And finally, her hold begins to relax until she's finally comfortable enough to let go of her firey friend. This whole situation is terrible. She hates it and what it inevitably meant for their past selves, but, Rei was right. ... She was right and it was exactly what Usagi needed to hear to reel her emotions back to where they should be. ]
Yeah, we are.
[ She's still crying, but, she's just going to try and rub her face with those gloved hands of hers to help get herself together. ]
We're friends who will figure this out together.
no subject
We will. With everyone on our side working together? There’s no way we can fail. You. Me. And everyone else. I know we will, because I have faith.
[A brief laugh comes from all around them, Sabaeus’ voice echoing throughout his little bubble of quiet. The shadows shift and draw closer for a moment as an Arcanine’s nose pushes inside, followed by his whole head. Casius doesn’t want to be left out of the moment too. Please don’t forget about your Pokemon! They’re as bound up in all this as you are.]

She hasn't met the Gengar that's currently protecting them, but, if she could, she would give it a grateful pat too. For now, she's just going to try and cheer up a little more, if not for her own sake, but so she doesn't make Rei worry too much about her. ]
I must look pretty bad right now, don't I?
[ Physically, anyway. Her face is red and her eyes are bloodshot, and there may be a bit of snot that she's trying to wipe away. ]
no subject
Usagi-chan, you look fine. A little rumpled, maybe. And you need to wipe your nose.
[Have a hanky, too.]
But I was like that too, the first time I dreamed something like this. I still get that way.
no subject
[ Usagi would be shocked that Rei could find herself in a position to be hysterical and over emotional, but, the past few days of dream walking have taken to squishing that assumption. Still, if it's bad enough that Rei does have a reaction to these glimpses into their past life like she's saying, then her dreams must be worse... ]
You mean, I'm just going to keep having these dreams?
no subject
Probably. Now...that you're aware of them. [Her hand slips out, pulling out a second hanky and wiping spots Usagi missed. Because it's that or have Casius lick them clean.]
no subject
[ That was something she wasn't looking forward to. Not one bit. ]
I'm not very good at that kind of thing...
[ And like a child, Usagi just stops what she's doing and allows Rei to finish cleaning off her face. Now, she's just puffy and red eyed in addition to the new look.
Speaking of the new look, she opens her eyes and reaches down to pull up one of her silver tails and holds it in her hand. ]
I mean, I'm different right now. It feels like I can, but, I'm such a dead weight. I couldn't save myself from those Drifloons... you and Michiru-san and Mako-chan had to protect me from those raiders back then...
What can I do?
no subject
You may have to. I don't know. I certainly hope not. Because I don't want to fight if I can avoid it.
[Leaning in close again, she hugs the silver-haired girl, letting it linger for a moment before going on. She kept her voice steady, despite being honestly afraid herself. She had to fake it, be tough, and just...let the words fall out.]
And you can learn to fight. Be a part of a team. You're Enlightened. You have powers, and you can use them. Maybe you don't have to attack directly, but there are plenty of ways to help without fighting. That's what Fairy types do, and what Psychic types do too. You don't have to go up front and hit things like Haruka-san, or throw fire like I do.
Just think about Pinky. She's strong, and she's just a little Clefairy, and she definitely doesn't go around punching things.
no subject
[ There's a small laugh from Usagi as she thinks about that... but then thinking about Pinky causes Usagi's eyes to go wide as she starts looking around the area in a more frantic pace.
She can see Casius. She can see the Gengar that's keeping them as protected as possible but... ]
Pinky... where is she?
[ All that calm that Usagi had managed to attain is quickly going out the window as she pushes Rei back just enough so she can try and poke her head out of the protective shadow. ]
Pinky?! Pinky!
I had to!
Fable! Fable!
I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.
[ Oh, what a relief! Usagi just reaches up, not caring that Pinky's new(?) form is super heavy and just holds the Clefable tightly with tears of happiness instead of tears of sadness.
There's plenty of face smishing as well as sob laughing that occurs. But, once Usagi gets it out of her system, she just pulls herself away and looks up to the large Golurk that's looming above them. She's never seen this one before, but she knows it in her heart.
So, she reaches up anyway to place her hand gratefully on his and acknowledging that he's done a good thing. That he has all of her thanks. While she's occupied, Pinky just reaches up with her pink paws and starts playing with the silver hair before finally landing a paw flat on Usagi's forehead where the golden crescent mark is. ]
Hm? Ah, yeah. I look a little different, don't I? But, you got a pretty make over too, Pinky!
[ The Clefable does a 180 and shows off the wing like structure on its back, cooing happily as she wiggles them around. ]
no subject
And the Golurk nods once, it's massive stone head grinding as stone grates on stone. The joints aren't perfect on any of them, but it's still pleased to be of service, ma'am. If it thought about it, it might even salute.]
So, she's evolved too, then? Or did...in this life.
[Rei nods to the giant ghost, giving it an appreciative smile.]
And you have a new ghostly friend?
no subject
Clefable!
[ There was a Moon stone stored in her room with all her other shiny trinkets. And Usagi had told Pinky that the choice was all hers whenever she wanted to turn into a Clefable.
Usagi just runs her hand over Pinky's head a few times before she stands up and glances up at the Golurk thoughtfully. ]
I guess I do. At least, I did. [ Or will, in this case. If their pokemon transferred to this new life, then she'd see the Golurk again. ]
no subject
[She dips her head at the ghost, and reaches a hand out to touch her own rather fluid shadow.]
I didn't know Pokemon were capable of reincarnating too, but...something tells me that this Golurk...and Pinky, and others, they're probably tied to us.
