007 | i walked with you once upon a dream

[The dream is the forest in days of Union's past, the sun is shining and how radiant the forest. Birds are chirping and the weather is perfect. Two children, a boy and girl, dressed in some shabby clothing covered in dirt and looking like a general mess. They are very similar in appearance. They are holding sticks up, clashing at each other with quick blows and movements. The two jumped back in sync, giving space among each other. The little boy, looking confident and passionate, smirks while pointing his stick towards the girl.]

There is no way you can best me, fool! For I am the greatest warrior to walk the earth!

[The girl, calm yet her heart is just the same as the boys, points her stick back. Determined yet she looks like she's having fun doing this play battle with the boy.]

I will not stand idle to any threats for the forest! My name is Quinn, the greatest Ranger of all of Union! I will never surrender to the likes of you!

[The two return to clashing until the little Quinn knocked the stick off of the boy's grip. She points her stick to the boy's chest, a moment of silence before the two burst out laughing. Even with the boy pulling her down to the ground with her, the two laugh as they lay in the grass and look at the sky.]

Alright, alright, you win.

Told you! What kind of adventure should we have tomorrow, Caleb?

No idea, but it's going to be better than ever! We are going to explore a lot and find something that the Rangers haven't found yet! We are going to be the best team there is once we grow up!

Yeah!

[She never told much about her brother to her friends. Her dear twin brother Caleb. The "current Quinn" is nowhere to be found, only her younger and pre-Enlightened self. Since it's a dream and her dream, she could probably appear or her younger self could recognize her friends.]

[The forest is now errie. Dark and nightmarish. There are no leaves in the trees. There are no Pokémon chirping or making sounds. It's hard to see a lot unless the moonlight makes out the shadows.

There is blood on the trees and grass. And there is a large shadow walking around, the earth shakes with each footstep. In it's hand, it drags a small corpse. The blood is fresh in the air. The trail of blood paints the ground with each drag the shadow pulls as it walks.

That same little girl from the dream is up in a dead tree, holding tightly as she watches the shadow drag the corpse away. There is blood on her clothes and her face is a mix of sweat, dirt, and tears. She is paralyzed in fear, unable to move or climb down and run after the shadow.]

C-Caleb...

[In another dead tree sits the real Quinn. She speaks nothing yet her expression is sad, going through the past only for a nightmare to make it much more gruesome. Valor, Jasper, Edan are nested inside winged arms while Tiamat and Vidar are sitting next to her. All five are sad with her, just holding Quinn close to them. Valor, however, seemed to get hit the worst out of them yet his expression is frozen as serious.

Quinn just buries her face into Jasper's head, saying nothing as her younger self witnesses the torment of losing her other half, her brother.]

[Well, a foot did get bind. Only the thing turned it's head. It's hard to make out what it was besides big and bulky. The large shadow let out a terrifying roar. A Dragon type?

It refuses to drop it's meal, tugging it's foot roughly to weaken and eventually break the bind. It's big, strong, and terrifying, even if it's a dream.

Quinn looks up from her Pokémon's comfort, despite being in a dazed state of letting her nightmare flow through like normal, a familiar voice is present.]

Lux...? Lux!

[A foot is enough to trip it up a bit, right? Not expecting the thing to have a type, she does try to discern it through her Analyst ability.

Surprisingly unphased by its roar, she immediately bites back any fear and goes on the offensive. Have a Lucent Singularity, you big ugly thing!]

Quinn! Help me out!

[This was her nightmare, but Lux wasn't about to take it sitting down.]

[It hisses at the Lucent Singularity and despite it's size, that Arcane Barrage only grazed him a little. It slams his free hand into a tree to knock it down, it's roar shakes the woods enough for the child to scream.

Did she had this nightmare before? Yes. Same monster, same situation, same paralyzed and unable to do anything besides watch the torment. It's different now. Newcomers in her dreams, two friends that she joins for adventures. That monster was going to hurt them.

Not again.

She winces and struggles in the invisible paralysis, but freedom was on her side. Her pokémon snapped out of being frozen and she quickly casts her birds out towards the shadow.]

Go for the eyes!

[She jumps down from her tree, now joining the battle properly. No crossbow is on her, but fuck it, she will not stand by in battle. Valor and Edan swiftly slash at the eyes before backing off from the rampaging monster's strength, which did hindered from smacking another tree down.]

[That... hurt her head a bit. She should have figured that she wouldn't be able to see anything. Readying another spell, she stops as soon as the Arcane Barrage flies by. Looking in the direction that it came from, she smiles a bit before getting back to work.

All right, supporting two ADCs, she can do that. Sounds like fun, actually!]

Got it! Ezreal!

[Throwing a shield toward Quinn, she lobs another snare in the monster shadow's direction.]

[Ezreal blinks into existence by Quinn's side, taking the shield and launching a swift bolt of energy, followed by a Mystic Shot and an Essence Flux, which passes over Quinn and grants her a brief boost to the speed of her attacks before striking the beast]

[Thank you support Ezreal* for the speed boost because Quinn is already running towards the big shadow and kicking it right in the center of it's body with the distractions. The monster thrashes and it's obviously really annoyed by these guys trying to fight it. It growls, bracing the attacks incoming towards it.

And by dream magic, her hand just happened to touch her side and her crossbow was hanging there with her when she thought it was gone. She was quick in pulling it out and firing bolts right into it. Seems effective since well... If it's her dream, then only she can defeat it. Right?

She doesn't know, but she's willing to try.]

Don't let it touch the kid. Just repel it out of here!

[Her words are harsh when she said that. Her younger self may be safe in the trees, but like hell she would let the monster touch her.]

[No games. The best way to repel it would be to scare it away, and Lux knew one way to do that. A wind rustles through the trees, and slowly the her feet lift off the ground.

Staff or no staff, it was laser time.]

Quinn!

[Better move, friend. She wouldn't hit her, but she also didn't want anyone in the direct path of this thing after she hit it, in case she angered it. Also have you seen how bright that laser was?

Floating higher, she focused energy around her core and, forming her hands into a diamond, gathered it and let loose a Final Spark at the beast.]

[Ezreal meanwhile is dodging to the side and strafing with Mystic Shots and regular bolts. He knows better than to be in the way of that.]

[And than god she moved in that before Final Spark is out of there.

Just one problem: That big maw open it's mouth and another laser gets fired back right towards the Final Spark. The two hit and are pressing against each other in force.

It's a laser off. And a light show.]

IS FRIENDSHIP BEAM TIME?

[Oh hell to the no. You gon lose, ugly.

Throwing both hands out, she tries to focus more power into the blast. It isn't known to last very long, but maybe if she willed it...

But she could feel her feet slipping, the force of both colossal beams pushing her back. Without anything to brace against, she was likely going to lose this fight.]

ALWAYS TIME FOR FRIENDSHIP BEAM

[It's bright, but she's sharp enough to notice that Lux is struggling. There is just something about the wind lightly moving in Lux's direction, enough to let her float a little.

She stands behind Lux, her hands carefully placed on Lux's arms to keep them up and steady. And her feet standing firmly on the ground so Lux doesn't fall over.]

Just focus. You are going to be fine, Lux.

[Quinn may only can defeat her nightmare for good, but she has faith in Lux that she can help her shoo it away for now.]

[Ezreal focuses his fire on the beasts head, trying to knock it off balance and give Lux the edge]

[With the power of friendship (and insert justice speech here), the Hyber Beam's power is getting weaker from the ongoing impact between it and the Final Spark pushing into each other. The beast is struggling to hang in there, it's own feet slipping despite it's huge size.]

[When you have the support of a good friend and the love of you life, you can feel unstoppable at times. Right, Lux?]

[The light of friendship shines through the darkest nights blah blah, insert justice and friendship speech here.

Normally she wouldn't be able to do this, Final Spark having very clear restraints, but this was Quinn's dream, and if she believed in her, then Lux could make the impossible happen. Throwing out both hands, Lux musters her remaining energy into the blast, shouting as she does.]

[Ezreal meanwhile is going to pop back and get way the fuck outta the way]

[And justice and friendship prevails as Final Spark pushes back and smacks the monster back with a bright flash. As the light fades, it just lets out one last roar before turning around and disappearing into the shadows, stumbling and dizzy. It will be back.

And they did it. They won.

Quinn drops down from Lux's side, just going to lean against a tree in relief. THANK SAVIOR. The corpse the monster had is gone from sight, must have vanished. Both good and bad for her.]

[Lux nearly drops to her feet as soon as her doom bot laser disappears, landing in a sitting position. She wasn't going to be standing up for a few minutes at least after all that. That took a lot out of her than she thought it would, but despite that she manages a smile up at the ranger.]

We weren't about to let you go it alone.

What was that thing, anyway? And that boy...

He was definitely a tough customer that's for sure.

He's a charmer, isn't he? Never been able to beat it by my own hand yet.

[Then again, a dream is a dream. The forest is still smelling of blood and dark, but the air is calm. Silence.]

That thing is a Pokémon... A giant one. It's been a long time ago so it's a little hard to remember exactly what it was. More than a decade and a half since that day... Only my head just made it more darker than it actually was.

[As for the boy... Valor, who returned to her side from flying around in battle and avoiding the lights, landed in her hands. She just looks at her companion with a serious look yet a little sad.]

The boy was my brother.
