The Dreams
When Rise initially falls asleep, she sees nothing amiss, although the edges of her dreamscape have a hazy fuzziness about them as part of her mind tries to figure out why the cloying fog lately has been bothering her so much. Still, her "normal" dreams consist of a strange, shifting landscape that appears to be in the stars, high above the ground and looking down on it. There's a constant murmur, as of a huge crowd, but Rise initially pays it no mind, leaping among strange rainbow-colored floating islands without a care in the world, changing from second to second from singing out bubbles of pure color to cooking tofu with her grandmother to defeating all comers in some strange Pokémon Battle/Contest hybrid while shirtless versions of every guy she knows cheer her on.
You know, normal dream stuff.
Toyo and Himiko have come along with her into the dream - Rise's subconscious thinks they're a normal part of the landscape, but the Pokémon's dream selves are actually there. They are a little more lucid and are getting steadily more concerned about that buzzing crowd...
Before she wakes up, but a long amount of subjective dream-time later, something is causing the previous pleasant cacophony to warp and change. The floating islands become claustrophobic and close off, trapping Rise in a small space behind copies of Union's walls. The murmur of voices echoes infinitely louder, and words start to come through.
Rise is shaken out of her previous revelry and is suddenly frightened...and feels a lot smaller. Huge versions of her friends - Haruka and Michiru, Asemu, Chie, anyone she's seen kick ass in a fight - have statuesque battles over her head with all manner of mean and nasty Pokémon, even Heatran, which all vanish in puffs of smoke.
Cheer them on, Risette. It's not like you can fight for yourself.
"Whoever you are, cut it out!" Rise shouts into the Void, although she suddenly finds herself in a short-skirted cheerleader costume and staring at a crowd of faceless people bowing down to a giant golden image of herself.
Weren't you so much better off when you were just a pretty piece of furniture? At least you knew what you were doing with your life.
"I'm tired of this...," Rise says, as the faceless crowds dissolve into mist and the statue turns into sand.
Look, even now, you need someone to rescue you. What a perfect damsel in distress...
Meanwhile, something has sent Himiko and Toyo out of Rise's dreamscape. They look at each other, nod, and wander out into neutral territory to find help.

Ugh. Can I just go back to sleep now? I'm tired.
[The weird dream imagery is replaced by the single image of a curtained stage.]
That was your excuse at the beginning of all of this. "I'm tired." Haven't you learned anything?
[The voice seems to be coming from the other side of the curtain. Haruka, knowing what to look for, might observe the scaffolds you'd expect to see backstage framing the dream edifice.]

She raises her hand again, speaking in a low voice to Rise. ] We're running for it. If it tries to stop us, I'll bring down the house.
[ Her palm heats up, glowing faintly. Earthquake is really nothing more than just a bunch of energy shot down her arm and into whatever she's touching. Usually that's the ground, but the necessity of dodging all kinds of odd obstacles in these dreams have got her improvising lately.
Ready when you are, Rise. And probably before. ]

[The walls are back, although surrounding a much wider area with Rise, Haruka, and Natto all encompassed, along with the stage image. Fortunately for Haruka, there appears to be pavement underfoot.]
Running's all she does. You think that cutesy ~befriend all the Pokémon~ act is anything but a distraction?

she shakes this world. Earthquake! ]

Huh...was I on stage the whole time?
[She looks around.]
Was I backstage the whole time?
[She looks down.]
...huh, normally when something like this happens I turn out to be naked.
[Nope, not going there.]

[ No judgment here, no worries. Just expectant curiosity.
Natto is hiding behind Haruka now, though. D-did they ruin a show? ]

[She looks out at the audience.]
And those guys must be...
[The audience disappears, and in place is the floating purple blob of an (injured) Spiritomb.]
...someone who stopped by for a snack.
no subject
[ Spiritomb, she is massively unimpressed with you. You don't even seem worth finishing off.
Maybe she'll just try to find an exit. Yeah. ]
no subject
[Rise aims her now-present Warp Band at the Spiritomb. She does call over her shoulder to Haruka as she's heading toward Stage Left.]
Hey, Haruka...thanks.
no subject
[ Gosh, his Trainer is cool. Natto wants to follow her, but first he smiles at Rise. You're okay, right? And that's your Spiritomb, so it'll learn its lesson? ] Leavanny!

[ Haruka slows down for him to catch up. But just a bit. Maybe no one will notice, and now they're walking in stride with each other right out of this theater. ]
