[So the weather's not that great. Ah, well. Some things have still got to be done, this time of year...

There's activity around the Tatsumi Gallery today. Two people running in and out, and a gang of Pokémon hard at work, too. The artworks for sale being changed up; the collection of Calderan textiles that were recently on display being reorganized to make room for a collection of ornamental masks and even decorative cordwork hung on display in the windows.

And as Kanji emerges from the gallery, his arms full of decorations for the building's exterior, he looks back and calls out-]

Ma, we've got this! Go on, siddown, you're just gonna put your back out!

[Right, then... where to start with this lot? He looks at the Pokémon who're helping him today, and nods. Not too much to do, right?]

Yeah. Ma's big on tradition, so...

[Shrug. The comment about the sweets gets a smile, though, and the last bit? Blink.]

I was actually here to see if you have any cord available yet - and see what you have in masks.

Well, our masks are all decorative ones, not ones for wearin'. But c'mon in, we've just put the stuff out...

[He steps into the shop, giving a polite nod to Kanji's mother and goes to the display of cords]

[Such a nice visitor.

The display's tiny compared to the masks, but it's there in the corner.]

Not many people go for that stuff, ya know?

I wonder why?

[He picks up and turns over a red-colored cord in his hand, examining the worksmanship that went into it]

[Knots and beads and patterns, some set on rather ornate stands, some hanging off plainer ones...]

Ma always told me the full stories when I was growin' up. What folks used to do in the old days. [Kanji pauses a little before he adds-] Dad did too.

[... And there's a glance at a slightly tattered cord, braided in silver and black, behind the counter.]

I guess masks 'n all that stuff just - looks more interestin'. An' hell, who doesn't like a cool costume?

Family cord?

[Ky questioned as he picked up a somewhat ornate blue one with thin gold threading that forms the shape of leaves]

The masks are beautiful - and I need to figure out a costume for this year.
