Open Log // Haunted Ruins
Who: Haruka, Michiru, and YOU
What: DDF field trip to the newly-discovered ruins. Spoopy ensues.
When: Week 39
Where: Coastal Ruins
Summary: God hunting comes with quite a few hazards. Being haunted is one of them.
[ Something is following them.
Haruka's had that feeling ever since she and Michiru entered the ruins, and it's only grown stronger with time. Even her Eevee is taking great pains to be extra-silent as he pads along, though Haruka has a hunch he's trying to impress his new "babysitter", Bundled Hearts the Spritzee. Whatever. It suits Haruka's goals, and that's all she needs.
If only the rest of the day was going as planned! These ruins haven't taught her anything useful thus far, but there's still this ominous sense of something - waiting. Something watching.
Haruka smirks. Her neck's prickling as if there's something behind her, but she won't turn. Not yet. Not until she's sure she can take - whatever it is - by surprise. ] Maybe we should have brought a housewarming gift.
[ Watch it be another explorer. That'll make her feel silly. ]

But Murkrow is a devious little jerk, and he's not missing out on the fun! Charizard readies another Flamethrower, while the little bird starts trotting up to the Cofagrigus. As angry as it is, it doesn't understand why this little bird is striding up to it with no problems, acting like it's really not doing anything at all. Until it uses its Feint Attack, smacking it right in the area where its gut would be.
Which for some reason, really hurts the ghost type. Murkrow flaps quickly out of the way, because he's not dumb! He knew Michiru had something up her sleeve. He was watching, he's the brains of the operation between Goku and his pokémon.
He even puffs his chest out a little bit.]
no subject
Except for, y'know, all the fire, but she'll work with that. While Cofagrigus reels from the Feint Attack, Haruka fans the flames (and tries to keep the ghost in one place) with Gust. Its arms flail, and she grits her teeth as the Ominous Wind rips at her, but here you go, Michiru. One target, primed and ready. ]
Gghk...
[ She's too focused on this to notice the mass of Yamasks forming behind her. Her Pokémon rush towards them. They have to protect their Trainer! ]
no subject
Martelé gets in a few good Bites, but is otherwise distracted in a game of tug of war via mask with an increasingly distressed Yamask. It's Gardevoir who seems to be doing the heavy lifting when it comes to clearing away the Pokemon.]
no subject
He whispers to Joltik, still hiding in his hair, shivering with fear.]
Hey, can you go help Haruka out? Give 'em a good Thunder Wave and slow 'em down. You can do that from here! Go on! [He prods her out of his hair, while she gives an apprehensive look down to her trainer. Are you sure? Okay...]
[And with a determined look, the little bug unleashes a wave aimed at the Yamask, paralyzing them so Haruka's pokémon can get there in time.]
no subject
Aaah, but this is no good! He has to do his part and Bite some Yamask!
Haruka, meanwhile, is seeming pretty intent on keeping that Cofagrigus down. She places a foot on its coffin and cracks her knuckles. ]
We promise we won't touch a thing.
[ Now, is one of her companions ready to dispatch this thing, or does it need an Earthquake to the lid? ]
no subject
And Gardevoir is Moonblasting five of them at once. Dang it, Gardevoir.]
Would you like to do the honors? [Cofagrigus seems to be flailing and trying to get that dirty foot off of its nice, shiny coffin but its movements are wholly uncoordinated.]
no subject
[The Joltik makes its way back up into Goku's hair, and his other two calm down. It looks like she's got a handle on the Cofagrigus.]
no subject
'Scuse us.
[ And there we go. Earthquake to the lid. This thing held its own well enough against the three of them + their Pokémon for Haruka to not be worried about the cardinal sin of completely offing this annoying guy.
She steps back once she's done, still focused on the coffin instead of how whatever Yamask remain might be reacting to her taking down their parental figure. ] Raise your children better after your nap. They've got no manners.
[ She turns to go. Let's blow this Vanillite stand. ]
no subject
Michiru makes her way past the Cofagrigus and ends up next to Haruka, giving her partner a quick once over.]
Well, that was auspicious.
no subject
You sure took care of that. It might be a good idea to get out of here before it wakes up. Those little guys might not be much of a problem, but I'd rather not run into another one of those.
no subject
[ That much was pretty obvious earlier, though. But if Cofagrigus was just angry in general, and not guarding anything specific, does this place really hold any answers for them...? She's starting to doubt that.
Gold is chatting with Martelé, now. Wasn't that electric thing cool? What a great bug. He should come over to play sometimes! ] Vee!
no subject
At least it's 90% fluff?Don't give them any ideas!!]I suppose we could always ask the inhabitants. [provided they want to tell]
no subject
Yeah, well...I know pranksters when I see them. They probably wouldn't even give us the right information.
no subject
Haruka looks around the area. ] Do we call it a day, then....?
[ Maybe one more building. She doesn't like leaving things unfinished, but she also doesn't like wasting her time. And while this is all eerie and foreboding, it also doesn't seem religious in nature.
Drat. ]
no subject
We might as well see what it was guarding. [let's see....it had come from this direction, right?]
no subject
Hey, look at that!
[Speaking of guarding things. Goku points ahead, at a marvelous ruin of a building. It's so old you couldn't really tell what kind of building it is anymore, but it's directly behind where the pokemon had appeared- and it looked sort of important.]
no subject
Hopefully beyond any more ghosts, but maybe everything in the vicinity heard that fight and is steering clear. They'll see. Yeesh, though. This building, comparatively speaking, was fancy. ]
How subtle.
[ Gold makes room for the Eevee, though he looks worried. He doesn't quite get everything that's being said, but it sounds mean. Martelé is his friend! ] Eevee.
no subject
Broken pillars line up before the entrance and the somber arches on the building itself would be dignified if it weren't for the overgrowth of vines intent on reducing it to rubble.
Just inside, there's a thick layer of dirt and dead leaves, though the stone floor can sometimes be seen through the debris. The set of large iron doors at the end of the chamber is closed tight, and the floor before it is immaculately clean.
Hah. With their luck, it's probably a fancy mausoleum or something.]
no subject
Someone's been here. I don't know if the pokemon did this, but it doesn't look like we're the only ones taking a look around here.
[He presses his head against the door, trying to see if he can hear anything at all from the other side.]
I think there's something on the other side...but it's hard to tell.
no subject
[ Ignoring her Eevee, Haruka places a hand on the door. She isn't getting an evil aura, per se, just....sadness. ] It might be unlocked.
[ She presses, and the door gives way - a little. Seems like it's either only loosely locked or just really, really heavy.
Well, if ghosts live here, they wouldn't have to worry about the door, huh? But it doesn't explain the floor. She glances back at Michiru. Help her with this? ]
no subject
It looks like it's not entirely neglected. [which could be a problem.
Either way, she takes a moment to press her hand against the door, contemplative, before putting her shoulders into it.]
no subject
He peers in, but the lighting isn't so great towards the end of the room. Old, decaying stands that once looked like it would hold candles lay spread across the back, the windows only letting enough light to catch the figure of something bent over the casket.
The figure is silent, but the aura of sadness is definitely coming from there. Goku looks a bit apprehensive to walk in, feeling like they'd interrupted something.]
I wonder who that is...
no subject
Haruka holds up a hand for silence, inching forward, trying to stay in the dark. Even Gold has either picked up on Martelé's scorn or his Trainer's need for secrecy. He hides behind her legs, silent.
Slowly, Haruka eases her way towards the bent figure. Human or Pokémon? Or...something else?
It doesn't seem to have noticed them yet, but it begins to turn, all the same. ]
no subject
As the growing wave of maliciousness hits them, Martelé vees in shaky defiance while Gardevoir's eyes go wide. Immediately, the group gets a Reflect and a Light Screen.
...maybe it's kept clean because it's important to them.]
no subject
The feeling of maliciousness may come from the Litwick that pops up from behind the altar, not looking entirely friendly.]
[Goku doesn't see the Litwick, but rather is more focused on the little girl.]
Hey, sorry, did we interrupt?
