Plot Description: An excavation team takes to the Old City looking for supplies to recreate older technology, a Pokédex.
Warnings/Notes: This is the first of many logs that will be taking place over the next few months.

The team had assembled, hand-picked by Lux herself, yet despite that, she was nervous. No one needed to know that of course and, waiting at one of the entrances of the Old City, supplies packed away on her back, and Pokémon prepped in her warp band, she waited for the rest of the team to get there.

Their plans were simple: Using some of the maps of the Old City, they were down there for computer parts, whatever they could salvage and bring up to the surface. It should be relatively easy, so she hoped.

Fortunately for Banzu, Zedd has Sturdy and not Magnet Pull, so he's safe from that particular annoyance.

"I've got a Spiritomb and Kuroshi here," Yuuna replied, running a hand along Golett's stony exterior. "They can phase through walls without a problem. But that's up to our fearless leader."

Fearless leader, right. It certainly wasn't the adjective that she would use for herself, but in a pinch it would work. "A ghost-type scout is a good idea. I can send Priscilla in as well." Lux said with a slight nod.

"Then Kintsu can go," she said, and with a tap of her finger, a Spiritomb materializes. "He's a bit tougher than Kuroshi at the moment."

The ghostly creature chitters a cackling laugh and swirls in greeting before slipping towards the ruined building, and through a wall.

Ghost-types, eh? Banzu has two: his Golurk, who's not very smart, and his Rotom, who's a trickster and can get distracted by things to possess. Neither of them are scout material, so he'll need to sit this bit out.

"Guess scouting's the plan, then."

He crosses his arms across his chest and waits for the intel.

Tapping her warp band, a Misdreavous materializes in front of her, swirling up into the air before following after the Spiritomb.

The building's interior was unlit, dingy and more than a little dilapidated. Thankfully, any load-bearing walls had been relatively untouched, although from the looks of things, the building had either been abandoned in haste, or was already well on its way out by the time the Old City had been evacuated. Broken machines littered rooms along with furniture items--overturned desks and chairs, broken panes of glass. However, some machinery did appear to be somewhat in-tact, although it was hard to say if they were rusted out or not. Still, the way was safe, if not a bit harrowing and dark.

Spiritomb floats along the halls, inspecting it for dangerous things like broken ceilings or weak supports. Also for hostile Pokemon, if that might be trouble...

[OOC: Just skip Banzu until the scouts bring back intel; there's nothing he can do until then.]

There are a few panels in the ceiling that are either broken or missing, but everything seems structurally sound in this part of the building. As for hostile Pokemon, there don't seem to be any immediately present.

Then, with a look at Misdreavius, Spiritomb starts to head back?

Misdreavius nods back, floating out through the wall it passed through, back toward the group.

And out they go, unless some ravenous ghost-eater attacks them?

Not likely; in situations like this it almost always works out that characters will get attacked in a place they thought was safe.

Banzu looks up when the two ghosts reappear.

"Verdict?"

There's a chittering sound from Kitsu, and Yuuna nods towards the door.

"He says it seems clear, so go ahead and get us inside."

"Stand back."

He taps his Warp Band and transports his Golurk in; said Golurk towers over them. He points at the door.

"Break that down, Erg."

"Lurk, lurk."

Erg walks up to the door, draws its fist back, and uses Dynamic Punch. The door manages to both fly off its hinges and turn into a cloud of splinters at the same time. With the tap of a button, Erg is sent back to where it came from.

"Bit more force than I was looking for, but we're in."

Lux normally does not condone violence, however, there was something very, very satisfying about watching the boards get smashed in by the Golurk. Possibly the prospect of their being something interesting inside. "That's okay," She said, cheerfully, "I'm sure it will be fine."

Summoning Poro the Mamoswine and Patrick the Venusaur for added insurance, she let the two Pokemon, with Priscilla floating by Patrick's side, enter first. Conjuring a bit of light magic to further illuminate the path ahead, Lux followed suit.

Long since abandoned, it seemed that those people who had used the building beforehand did little to pack things up before leaving. It was a mess, to say the very least, with what items that hadn't decayed with age thrown about haphazardly, as if in haste. And, sure enough, there appeared to be some machines, and even a few in-tact.

Yuuna shrugs and lets the others go in first. Gouken the Hitmonchan and Kintsu take the rear, while Yuuna goes in slowly, hand on her sword. She sweeps her eyes around the various machines...but leaves it to Banzu and Lux to figure out what's good and what's junk.

Facet the Carbink enters before Banzu; as Banzu's living mobile shield generator that's its job after all. Spur-Mesh the Klang and Multi follow alongside Banzu, Multi renewing the Flash effect on his tail as they enter. Banzu glances around the room, identifying the locations of possible loot.

"Multi, check those desks for any books or pieces of paper with writing on them."

"Smea," Multi nods, and goes off to do so, also keeping an eye out for any small gadgets as he searches in hopes that he'll find something that will get him praise from his trainer.

Banzu, for his part, lights his non-Pokémon light source and heads to the nearest intact-looking machine to begin examining it. Ideally he'd like to just cart everything out of here and examine it at his leisure in his workshop at the port, but even with Erg to carry and drag stuff that's not even remotely practical.

So what does this machine look like it does? Any access panels he can take off, or is he going to have to disassemble it to see inside?

Caked in dust, there are a few books left on one of the desks that Multi investigates, although it is hard to say whether or not it is in salvageable condition. The machine, however, looks to be in rather good condition, all things considered, however, far too large to be able to cart out all in one piece. The buttons are labeled, but in the old language. They would need to be deciphered.

"Banzu, is there anything we can do to help you?" Coming from one of the shelves, there are a few books in her arms.

Yuuna's appraising glance of the machines is decidedly unexpert. She doesn't know much about that stuff, but it does look like it's not in bad shape. Curious enough, she starts to examine the buttons. Her own command of the Old Language is not awful since she did take the time to study history before dropping out. She's no master, but her perfect memory may help out here.

Multi decides to err on the side of caution and take everything he can. He starts a neat pile closer to the door and goes to look for more. Perhaps there are things in the drawers?

Banzu responds without looking away from the machine.

"Either of you read the old language? Think I recognize a couple things and I've got a translation dictionary on me, but it'd take a while to work shit out."

"Old language?" Lux asked, putting a few of the books down and wandering over, bringing her light with her. Staring down at the panel, she focuses on it a bit before frowning.

"It looks alpha-numerical, but there's a lot I can't really make out in this light. We should probably just disassemble it and bring it up to the surface. Hey Yuuna," Lux called over her shoulder to the other girl, "We're going to start taking this one apart, can you help?"

"Give me a bit and I can translate," Yuuna replies, "But yeah, we should just get it moved up there and let other folks look at it."

And she moves over to help, taking out a multitool.

Banzu already has tools in hand and is opening one of the access panels.

"Lose as much of the casing as you can, to start with. And don't disconnect anything until I've seen where it goes. Hopefully we'll be able to get all the guts out and put the whole thing back together once we're topside."

The panel comes off and he shines his light inside. How much stuff's crammed into this thing?

As Banzu and Yuuna pull off the console, they'll note that the machine is, while very compact, quite complex and, not only that, but amazingly in-tact. While some of the cables aren't in the best of conditions, the guts of the machine are easily salvageable.

"Right," Yuuna mutters, starting to peer inside at the innards of the device. She begins working on stripping some of the exterior casing, opening access panels and fiddling with screws.
