There needed to be space in the ground for the plants to take root and spread out, so it was only natural for there to be a lot of roaming space in this area. The area was also set up to let in a lot of sunlight in most spots, while still having a few shady areas for plants that tended to thrive more in the shade. It worked just like that for the Grass types, too.
