Pokémingle 2: The Pokémingling

It's another lovely summer day! It's later in summer now and as the excitement from the previous weeks die down, another sign goes up in the local park...

Pokémingle!! Back by popular demand!

It's an open event for Pokémon of any kind! Play games, walk together, and relax in the sun! Trainers, let your Pokémon take the day off! Let's make Pokéfriends!! (^_^)

((Pokémingle returns! While the base premise is that it's a relaxing day at a park, feel free to respond with other top-level comments with what else your Pokémon might be doing around Union. No real rules about top-level threads, so if you want to include all of your Pokémon in one thread or do separate ones for a few Pokémon, go ahead. (Try not to make top-levels for 15 different Pokémon though if possible.) No trainers allowed!! Or at least, minimal trainer interference!

Natto's throat is dry. He opens it and croaks, then tries again since Avalugg doesn't look like a carnivore. H...ello. You...really ate your vegetables, huh? Because you eat vegetables, right? Not...bugs. ] Lea....vanny.

Bear. [ Great, the bug's going to embarrass her in front of Hitmonchan. Sky looks away, fighting the urge to cover her eyes with a paw. ]

[Leavanny please…Avaluggs don’t eat bugs, or vegetables. They pretty much just eat icecubes. And maybe blue gummy candies. At least, Hyozan likes blue gummies, but he’s never seen another Avalugg so he just assumes they all like blue gummies. Either way, relax. Your biggest worry should be that he might accidentally step on you. And he’ll try hard not to, honest!

Hyozan’s big head leans down to Natto’s and he nods.]

[Sup dude. Can he have flowers too?

As for Gouken, he’ll step over to Sky and wiggle a…glove? Hand? Punching appendage? Sup with you too, cool stuff? Done anything fun lately? Didn’t get eaten by Heatran? Because he’d totally punched that thing in the mouth leg, stop lying.]

Bear. [ Beartic tries not to look bothered that she wasn't invited to go fight that big Pokémon. Clearly, that means her Trainer hardly considered that thing worth the trouble of sending her! Instead, she practiced on her own with one of her Trainer's other Pokémon. You'd like him, he's a Machoke. You have so much in common, like thinking with your muscles.

Don't be a sore loser, Beartic. Especially not when you're trying to be polite.

Natto is still a bit concerned by Avalugg's bulk, but he seems like a nice guy, and he's interested. Spritzee, do you want to help him? This is going to be, um. Quite the flower chain. ] Leavanny!

[ Spritzee hops up to assist, waving a wing at Avalugg. Wait right there, please, sir! They will do their best to make you something nice out of flowers! ]

Chan.[Hitmonchan seems unbothered by the brief display of impropriety, or the cattiness of it goes over his head. He's not some musclebound oaf like a Machoke though, he'd totally punched out a couple of those the other day by being faster. Of course it was Goku's...and he's pretty sure that lump had taken more than a few nasty blows to the head...

Either way, whatever. Beartic's pretty okay. She's kinda prissy, and he likes that. Maybe she could teach him to be more proper. Or...something.

Avalugg settles down onto the ground, lowering himself with a slow rumble and watching the little things scurry around. They seem nice, and he likes seeing smaller, faster things move. It reminds him of good times when he was a Bergmite.]

[ Beartic isn't a bad Pokémon so much as an insecure one; anyone who makes her feel inferior gets a fair bit of snark until she gets over herself. But open hostility would be unseemly, and you haven't done anything to attack her further like Waltz the Gardevoir does....She gestures to her flowers. Did you come calling because you wanted a crown or a corsage as well? ] Bear bear.

[ Natto pulls a long string of silk from his mouth, holds it up with a squint to guess at the proper length, and carefully snips it. It'd be overreaching their materials to make a full necklace, but they can make a nice decoration to drape across Avalugg's head! Like a wall at a party. ] Leava!

[ Alternating leaves and flowers, he and Spritzee begin stringing materials onto the, well, string. Spritzee thinks of an Important Question and addresses their patron. Do you have a favorite color? ] Spritzee?

[Well, he's got no reason to. He's not Vegeta or anything. And you know, he wouldn't mind, and he just came to say hey.] Chan!

[Avalugg looks at himself, and down at the little things working diligently. It takes him a moment, but he eventually does answer: Bluuuuuueeee.]

Vanny! [ Blue is a great color! Very relaxing. Natto starts coming through the collected petals in the hopes of finding some nice, deep indigo materials. A darker shade of blue will look nicer against the pale shades in your ice.

Spritzee looks a bit confused. Surely you meant pink or green, correct? She shoves a big green leaf onto the garland. If you don't know the very best things, she will lead by example! That is called "helping". ] Zee!

....Bear. [ Ah. Beartic scratches her cheek. She's not used to people coming over specifically to see her...specifically because they wish to spend time in her presence....I-in that case, would you like to, ah. Pull up some field and sit with her a spell?

She shifts as gracefully and subtly as she can. Given her bulk, it doesn't work. ]

[Seeing the not blue flowers almost makes Hyozan frown...until he just decides to sneeze and blow away the petals that are the wrong color. He really only likes blue.

And as for the invite, Gouken shrugs and plunks down nearby, watching the ungainly bear attempting to be dainty...]

[ That breath almost blows away Natto and does send Spritzee tumbling head over talons, "zee"ing off down the field. Goodness her!!! You don't have to be quite so emphatic about it!

Natto, however, once his head stops spinning, is super impressed that somehow, only blue petals remain. How did you - that's amazing - you would be such a huge help in the costume shop!!! It's hard to find things sometimes! ] Leavanny!

[ Beartic just sighs and combs out her fur. Quaint, isn't it? They're having such a lively debate over there...

...oh no, that was a lame conversation starter, wasn't it, what is she supposed to say to someone who would-have-beaten-her-but-she's-determined-to-assert-didn't yet somehow still wants to hang out with her?? She was not prepared for this sort of social encounter!! ]

[Oh, he'll help if he has the free time...and if he's able to fit in the shop. In the mean time, he'll just sit there and wait, watching to see what Natto will do!

Hitmonchan doesn't seem bothered by the lame starter, either, he just shrugs and nods. He doesn't really think there's too much to say about the fight. It was a spar, nothing more. No need to mention it or think much more of it. They'll have rematch sometime, whenever there's time for it. He's still a little pooped from Heatran though, so not today.

Oh...he sniffs and pulls out a snack. Have you tried the poffins?]

Hitmon...?

Bear? [ Refreshments? For her? Far be it from a lady to impose!

Yet far be it also from a lady to refuse such a generous offer. Accepting the poffin, Beartic attempts to split it in half so not as to appear a total glutton by gulping it all down at once. This works, somewhat, but she ends up with one half skewered on her claw.

She looks at it, contemplating what just happened. ] ...Bear.

[ Leavanny, meanwhile, is busily working away. His arms are moving so fast it's hard to follow them, but bit by bit, blue flowers are being strung onto the string. ] Van van van van...

[Hey, Gouken won't judge. He has those big mitts to eat with, after all. He'll eat one of his own slowly. Is it good?]

Hitmon?

[And Avalugg hums along, cheerfully watching the progress. He's...not much of a singer though, so it sounds more like a bunch of boulders falling...]

[ OH GOD THE SKY IS FALLING wait it's just Avalugg duetting with him. Natto remembers to breathe, then picks up the song again. Not long now! ] Van van van...

[ Beartic takes a dainty nibble. Then a slightly larger bite. Then she opens her mouth wide, but seeing the Hitmonchan looking at her, closes it and settles for another nibble. It's....acceptable. ] Bear.

[Well, he'll wait patiently, and...quietly this time. Not wanting to scare anyone...

Hitmonchan, though, just gobbles up the rest of his own snack and looks around. Sure are lots of folks here today. Most of them seem kinda boring though.]

Bear. [ Sky admits that point, finishing her first poffin half and de-skewering the second. It's weird to have something in common with a Fighting-type. What is your definition of "interesting", though?

Leavanny, meanwhile, holds up a lovely garland of blue flowers, arranged in a pleasing pattern of varying shades. Could you lower your head a bit, please? Or, Spritzee, will you hang this according to his directions? ] Leavanny va?

[ Spritzee has righted herself by now and comes fluttering up. She SUPPOSES she could help. Because it's the RIGHT THING to do. Everybody notice how charitable she is, please. ]

[Interesting Pokemon do things that are not boring. They don't just sit around doing nothing, or eating all the time, or that sort of thing. Movers, not sitters.] Chan...

[And Avalug will happily comply. And notice how charitable Spritzee totally is. Because.]

[ Is that so? Beartic supposes that's as good a definition as any, though she'd be a bit more discerning about the particular behavior they displayed. (Having standards has been a lot less fun since Spritzee joined up, though. She doesn't want to be Spritzee.) ] Bear.

[ Unaware of the accidental ill-will her behavior has fostered, Spritzee takes wing to affix the garland to Avalugg's head, placing silked-up spots right where Natto directs her to. He even waves his arms like he's directing air traffic. A little to the left! Oh, sorry, your other left! And down! And - great, great, that's going to look wonderful! ] Lea!

[Well...he's not really too picky. Active is really what's important to him. Your trainer seems like a pretty active person, so that's cool. Get it?


Now, Avalugg just holds still, not trying to shake or do anything crazy that might hurt his new buddies. He's darn happy, really. Blue flowers! Yay!]

[ Beartic gives Hitmonchan an icy stare. Was that a pun, good sir?

But yes. She and her Trainer do a lot of things together. So much so, that she's not entirely certain what next to do now that she has this recreation time... ] Bear.

[ Aaaaand there we go. The last flower is stuck in place, and Spritzee flies back over to Natto so they can both assess their handiwork. You look amazing, Avalugg! If ice could be summery, you're it! ] Leavanny!

[Yeah? His trainer likes puns. She's pretty punny...

And you know...recreation time is good. It's a time to learn to put holes in boulders from fifty feet away!


And now, Avalugg just grins. His mouth spreads into a wide grin and he lets out a small (for such a big guy) sound of appreciation. He's always wanted to be summery!]

[ Beartic looks down at her now dessert-free paws, considering. That doesn't sound so very difficult. Are there boulders about where you can demonstrate this technique? ] Bear?

[ Leavanny claps his hands even as his antennae blow about in the wake of that happy cry. He hopes your Trainer likes it, too! Thank you for coming to get a crown, and for being his new friend. ] Vanny va.

[There probably are. Hitmonchan stands up and takes a stance, doing a couple of quick punches before pulling back for a single quick jab, his fist sending out a Vacuum Wave that hits one of the rocks. The stone cracks almost immediately and crumbles, all without Gouken getting anywhere near it. With a confident nod, he looks back at Beartic.]

Chan.

[Avalugg just keeps on grinning, but inclines his head. He will do the thing! And he will eventually return the favor.]

Luuug-lugg!

[ Goodness, that's. Hm. Beartic blinks, then rears up, pounding her claws together. Okay, she won't be outdone!! Perhaps a lady wouldn't rise to the challenge this quickly, or with this much aplomb, but ladies also follow through on their statements and she'd said this was no big deal. If she can't match his prowess, she's a failure as a lady!!

...But Fury Swipes can't possibly break rock, so she sucks in a deep breath and sends an Icicle Crash down onto the rubble. It, predictably, splinters against the rock pile, but not before splitting a few of the larger pieces, too.

She nods. Yes. ] Bear.

[ Wild Pokémon in the park begin approaching. It's nice and cool over by this gravel pile... ]

[ Leavanny and Spritzee nod. You do that! Tell your friends about us, too. ] Leava zee !!

[Gouken nods once, approvingly. You use what you've got for the task at hand instead of straining for methods that just won't work. No point in doing anything otherwise. Not...that he cares much about ladies and lady-like behavior, he just respects creativity and strength.

Good job, you've got his interest, bear-brosis.]

Hitmon. Chan.

[Avalugg nods again, turning away with a gravelly creak of straining ice and begins to make his way back over towards the lone little Golett. He definitely will. And in case you didn't feel he was grateful...a little dusting of snow starts to fall all around you.]

[ It's....snowing!! That's cold, but so pretty! Leavanny blows on his hands to warm them, all the better to applaud. He's only ever seen Beartic's Powder Snow, which is not as pretty as this. She's a bit intense when she wants to be. Even Spritzee looks impressed and grateful. ] Zee.

[ .....is that Golett green?? She stares from afar to confirm this.

Beartic puffs out a frigid breath of her own, then remembers it isn't proper to gloat and smooths out her fur in false modesty. Oh no, it was nothing, all in a day's work, she's got a million of those tricks up her sleeve, ohoho~! ] Bear.
