Hello, can anyone hear me? I believe I'm still in the signal area. In any case, I believe that I may have found something interesting! A community of Spearows, so close to the city! I thought that they were solitary Pokémon, and yet there must be at least half a dozen of them nesting here, in close proximity. While I have not been able to get too close, I have been able to construct quite a few interesting ske--

[The feed abruptly cuts off.]

[Action]

[The Verdant Forest, early morning, the trees covered in a new layer of fluffy white snow. The ratata are slowly crawling out from their hidey-holes to find their first meal of the day; pidgey cooing gently, welcoming in the day; the sweet, dulcimer cry of an errant Enlightened screaming--wait, what?!]

[Noticing the Eevee run in next to her, it wasn't until Ezreal shouted and attacked two of the rampaging Spearows that both Lux and Camille noticed they weren't alone and that, suddenly, the group had directed its aggression elsewhere.

What was once her problem was someone else's, and somehow that drove her to be a bit more courageous. They had to help them!]

Camille, with me!

[Pulling a staff from her pack, the blond spun it in her hands like a baton.]

Now!

[Both Pokémon and Enlightened struck at the same time, the Dratini with a well-placed Thunder Wave, and the blond with a strange sphere of light. Two more fell from the sky, struggling from what seemed to be some kind of binding.]

Why did you do that!

[Cecilia whines that in Ez's direction, before she looks up at the charging Spearows -- and sees that Lux's Pokémon just unleashed a thunder wave. She turns to face them, too, and focuses on one of the Spearows.]

[Cecilia brings her hand up; the air grows chill right around her, and then an icicle forms off her palm. It fires like a missile, striking into a Spearow, and knocking it to the ground.]

Because these things suck and apparently we've got the typing advantage!

[He and his Elekid are going to keep up the attack. As a few Spearow get close he grabs his Elekid and vanishes from view, appearing a few yards back]

[And here comes some extra back-up! Only not the kind they would expect. Well, everyone but Lux, because she probably knows this dumb Shiny Gastly anywhere.]

[It was just way faster to come like this than try running, okay? Also, he wastes no time in letting loose a quick hypnosis spell on any of the Spearow getting close to the others. It's not strong but it might drop a few.]

Geez, this is ridiculous!

[The Gastly also just talked.]

[She does indeed recognize him, and breathes a sigh of relief.]

There you are! That was more than five seconds!

[She counted.

With a fair few of the original Spearows at least incapable of chasing, and the beating of wings floating through the air, Camille stretched herself as tall as she could, attempting to make herself look intimidating. Instead, Lux grabbed her by the collar.]

And now, I believe, we run!

[Said a bit enthusiastically.]

[Raftina leaps up and -- somehow -- spinkicks an Eevee out of the air, then lands, her tail helping her balance. The Eevee chirps at the presence of the Gastly. That makes Cecilia turn her head and stare at the talking Gastly.]

But how-- [No, no, Lux has it right. Run, then ask.] A splendid idea! I don't think we can hold them off forever!

[She starts running. Raftina jumps and lands on her shoulder, but points back at Ez, then motions for them to follow. She's a bossy Eevee, apparently.]

All right all right I'm coming! Let's go Spark!

[Spark gets one last shot in before the two of them take off after the others]

I'll make it up to you! Not getting mauled comes first, though!

[Yes, excellent. What a motley group of trainers running for the city. This probably looks hilarious to anyone watching the gates.]

I should hope so!

[It would seem their new "friends" don't want to get too close to Union. ~~Not after Kenny got eaten by some assholes on the wall.~~ Stopping just short as well, Lux doubled over, holding her knees and catching her breath, her Dratini slinking down at her feet and panting as well.]

[Cecilia does the same, stopping her run and panting. She shakes her head, before she looks around at them, and then back towards Lux. She's the one they found in trouble originally.]

Everyone okay?

Never better!

Peachy.

[He wasn't exactly out of breath, but he was also mostly incorporeal. Yay, for being a ghost!]

That was close.

[She catches her breath, standing up finally. She's beaming.]

That was invigorating!

I could live without the running for my life part, but it was sort of fun...

[She smooths her coat out, then she stands back up, looks around, and smiles.]

I'm Cecilia.

Ezreal. Nice to not be getting murdered by Spearow with you all.

[Okay, he really can't help but laugh. Lux, plz. Oh, introductions, huh? John snickers and then- what is going on there? That Gastly just went poof in a lot of blue smoke.]

[And now there's a kid there. He grins at the others.]

John, nice to meet you. Heh.

[John, you should know her better than this by now.]

My name is Lux, and this is my companion, Camille. [She gestures toward the Dratini, who stands upright and bows gracefully.]

Thank you for helping me. I did not expect them to attack. I was able to get quite a few good sketches at le--

[Wait a second, where was her sketch pad? She had it under her arm when she got cornered, then...]

...Oh. Oh dear.

Nice to meet you, Lux. Maybe--

[She takes a second to process everything. The missing sketchpad. The Gastly that just turned into a boy. Ez. Raftina, swishing her tail next to her. THE GASTLY THAT JUST TURNED INTO A BOY.]

[That one wins.]

[She turns and gawks at John, just staring for a long moment.]

[Then she bolts forward, holds her hand over the top of John's head, and starts literally measuring him by spacing her hands apart.]

How do you work!

[Ezreal is fairly unperturbed]

Shifter huh? Nice.

Lux? What's wrong, did you lose your- [Whoa, hello person getting up in his business.]

Uh, yeah. What he said. I'm a shifter.

[Oh, wait. She's being insane. She coughs and looks to the side, embarrassed, and shuffles her feet.]

...we could double back and look for the sketchbook.

Do you think the Spearow have left the area yet?

[John cringes.] Weren't they nesting over there? Unless it got dropped between here and where they were all hanging out. I dunno. Birds are kind of assholes. It's going to be hard to get close.

We need a plan.
