[Video/Action] First Prayer: Enter Rei Hino (Backdated to before the announcement)

[So, what's the first thing Rei does when she gets the video set up on her Warp Band is to
turn it on and study it skeptically. She doesn't really have a lot to say, but she figures that since she finally caved and got it upgraded at Grandpapa's insistence. She didn't want him to worry overmuch when she finally did decide to go outside Union, and that was simply the only reason she'd bothered with it at all.

There's a short cawwing sound, and a Murkrow lands on the girl's shoulder, nudging her with it's beak. Clearly it wants her to say something...and Rei gives the bird an exasperated look.]

Oh alright...[She waves it off before giving the camera a smile. It's a little forced, like she's uncomfortable, but all the same she addresses the camera.]

Hello there. This is Phobos and my name is Rei. It's nice to speak to all of you. I'm likely going to be leaving Union for the day, so I thought I'd make sure my Warp Band was fully functional. I assume it is, so I think I'll be going, but feel free to contact me if there's something you have to say. I just wanted to introduce myself.

[An odd pause...and she nods, seemingly satisfied with just that. She's not terribly keen on using this video device, but it is an expected thing, so she'll make the attempt. All the same, off the feed goes now!]

[And true to her word, Rei exits Union's gates that afternoon. A quiver and bow slung over her shoulder, with Phobos the Murkrow and Deimos the Ralts at her side, she heads off towards the forest. Something about today had just seemed rather auspicious, and the night before she'd received a vision in the flames, a premonition that she needed to be leaving Union today. She hadn't gotten much more than that, but it was clear that today was a day of destiny! And that meant getting out like she'd been secretly planning to do for months and months. Grandpapa had supported it for the most part, though his condition was, of course, the Warp Band so she'd obliged him.

Wherever she does, she's moving with a purpose, keeping her eyes peeled for things that might or might not change her life forever. Certainly the land outside was lovely enough to be worth the trip anyway. And if that was all the hunch she'd gotten meant, well...she could deal with that. It wasn't like every single vision had to lead to something astounding, after all.]

[Rei will indeed come across Makoto. Or rather, Phobos will, first. A Murkrow is totally flapping it's way over towards you Mako-chan, and looking for shiny things.

...and not a minute later, Rei comes into view, walking quickly and looking for the impulsive corvid pokemon.]

Oh! There you are!

[By this time, of course, Makoto has offered the curious Murkrow a tidbit. Hope that's alright!

She looks up at Rei's exclamation, a bit surprised but not overly bothered.]

Oh, hello! Is this one yours?

[Rei stops not far off, slowing to a normal pace and nodding to the other girl]

Yes, she is. Sorry, if she's troubling you.

[makopunch]

She's no trouble! I always bring extra.

[As Rei can probably see...]

Would you like to join us?

[faithfulflame]

[Well, Phobos is happily munching away, and Rei can't exactly pull her away from food...]

Alright, sure. It's about time for us to eat anyway.

[A little Ralts wanders around Rei's legs where it'd been hiding, waving to make it's presence known.]

[makopunch]

[Aw, hello little Ralts! Makoto offers a smile and a small wave in return, before returning her attention to her human guest.]

What's your name? Mine's Makoto. And this is Sunny.

[The Mareep bleats politely at Rei when she's introduced, then turns her attention to Rei's pokemon. Do you guys like Poffins? Makoto makes the best poffins!]

[Ralts and Murkrow both settle in to converse with Mareep then. While Rei nods placidly and answers.]

My name is Rei, Makoto-san. And this is Phobos. [The Murkrow] and Deimos [The Ralts].

It's nice to meet you and Sunny.

It's nice to meet you, too!

Here, please help yourself.

[She scoots some of the bento boxes toward Rei and her pokemon; the human food is distinct and separate from the pokemon food, but it's all flawlessly arranged and also delicious]

[Well...don't mind if she does. Rei gently picks at the bento, savoring each bite.]

[Phobos and Deimos do the same, nodding excitedly.]

I'm glad you like it.

[Aaaa, she doesn't get to share her food with others very often...this is nice!]

Are you all out for a walk? Or training?

Well, we're doing a little of both. Today is...well, it's my first day outside Union, really.

[A casual admission, but Rei doesn't sound terribly nervous or anything.]

Oh! That's exciting. We haven't been coming out for very long, either. This is our third time.

[Sunny the Mareep baaa's softly in agreement, bobbing her tail.]

I kind of wish we'd started sooner.

[faithfulflame]

Oh?

[A simple question...and one she's interested in hearing the answer to, because in a lot of ways she feels the same way. Being out and about is rather liberating, after all.]

[makopunch]

Well, between school and working part-time, it's kind of hard to get away, you know? Plus, all the warnings you hear about how it can be dangerous out here if you're not prepared. We've run into a few hostile pokemon, but nothing we couldn't handle.

[faithfulflame]

[Rei nods, having a vague sense that she'd seen this girl when she was in school.]

Right, I...guess that's true. I have been preparing for this for a while, myself, but up till now I've never done it either. The shrine needs tending, and I only go to school sometimes because of that.

[makopunch]

[Hmm, yes, there is something familiar about Rei after all...Maybe that was it!]

You live at a shrine? Which one?

[faithfulflame]

Hikawa Shrine, with my grandfather.

[One of the smaller, but nicer, ones in her professional opinion.]

Oh, I haven't heard of that one. Not that I'm a huge expert on shrines, of course...Where's it at?

[faithfulflame]

It's in a quiet little neighborhood in the west part of Union. Not too far from the residential area. You...should come visit, we don't get many visitors really.

[makopunch]

That's not too far from where I live, it sounds like. I'd love to come visit! When's a good time? After school, or on the weekend...?

[faithfulflame]

Any time, really. We're open all the time, and unless I'm outside...now...I'll be there. And if I'm not, Grandpapa will be.

[Though...Grandpa Hino and pretty girls...]

[makopunch]

I'll probably come by after school sometime. Maybe we can walk together! [On one of those rare days Rei goes to school...and pending Makoto's not suspended for fighting again...]

Yes, maybe we can. [Rei dips her head in agreement. She...might bother coming to school sometime. But right now, training her Pokemon and learning more about herself came before books.]

So are you heading anywhere specific, yourself?

[makopunch]

Not really! We've just been wandering around pretty close to town. I heard there's a shrine somewhere in the forest, but I don't think we're quite ready to go looking for that, yet.

Oh? I'd heard about that. Some sort of Pokemon shrine, for grass types maybe?
