first channelling - action (Forest Shrine)
[Meditation in the forest shrine is always rather peaceful.
You know.
When it isn't cold as balls.
Of course, the cold-as-balls is good for resistance training, which is exactly why Maya is out there, her duskull, Shi, hovering above her head. She wears her usual furisode, crouched on the ground where she's cleared a space of snow.
After a good few hours worth of meditation, she decides that it'd be good to take a walk-- perhaps to encounter some pokémon (or perhaps just to regain feeling in her hands) or to see if anyone else is out walking along the forest path. As Shi slides into her hiding place in Maya's hair, Maya rubs her hands together and sets out to explore.]

It has no idea how she even saw through its perfect disguise.
Maybe next time it will paint moss on its back.
Why does she want to play, anyway? Most humans just tried to ignore the Pokemon in the forest. They left each other alone for the most part.]

[In an almost Sokka-esque motion, she makes little spooky fingers-- then realises that yes, ghosty things were part of the problem, and quickly straightens up, hiding her hands behind her back.]
I mean, we're kinda the coolest kids around this part of the forest, you know, doing the training and meditating thing-- right, Shi?
[Shi is not a liar. Shi does not approve of this excessive use of the word 'cool' in regards to Maya. Stop that, Master Maya.
Pouting at Shi for a moment, Maya turns her attention back to the deerling.]
Besides! Ghosts are super good at hiding... disguising... all that.
no subject
Deerling takes a few steps closer to Shi and lifts up a hoof to poke at her.
...OK. If she wants to play a game, let's play a game! If Maya wins, maybe she really does have a lot she can teach it.
It wants to play...
Hide and Seek!]
no subject
Maya just grins-- she supposes she brought this one upon them.]
Okay-- but if we win, you're setting yourself up for a lot more games in the future, you know.
And if you win... then I guess we'll let you get back to those berries.
no subject
Ready, then!
Count to 50!
And before Maya can agree, Deerling will prance off into the forest, vanishing quickly into the underbrush.]
no subject
[She looks toward her duskull, smirking.]
Looks like we've got our work cut out for us, huh? Fifty, then.
[She counts aloud, hands crossed behind her back, staying still. She has to play fair, after all-- and she's not looking to make this deerling too angry. After doing so, she heads out, sending Shi one way and looking another.
Deerling aren't too big, so she crouches low, searching through the foliage as quietly as she can.]
no subject
Around the path are strewn a variety of berry bushes.]
no subject
[Looks like this deerling's not so bad at hide-and-seek, either. Maya can't contain her grin; a challenge like this is always fun.]
Well, you can't have flown.
[So the path she takes won't go any further-- rather, she follows the path back a little, minding the heaviness of the tracks.
She's rather glad she's had to deal with finding crafty little girls to get them to baths, or she'd be in a much bigger mess.
She approaches one of the bushes-- no thought put into it-- and begins to rustle about.]
no subject
The bush she rustles in has nothing whatsoever in it but the poor disillusioned Deerling rises up from behind her about ten feet away and slowly attempts to tiptoe off through the woods.]
no subject
She stays where she is for just a little, even putting on a pout and putting her hands on her hips.
The voice she puts on is one definitely modelled after one of the Theatre plays-- as if she's quoting it.]
'Looks like we've hit a dead end, detective.'

Hold it!
no subject
Deerling freezes in its tracks. H-How did she find it so quickly!? No one's ever figured out the Double Back! Never!!!]
no subject
[Shi slips up from behind Maya, staring down at deerling from atop Maya's head.]
Maya Fey, Ace babysitter.
[Shi, babysitter of the babysitter.]
Aaaaand we're not listening to the ghost gallery today, folks.
no subject
Its life is a lie.
Being discovered so easily twice within the space of five minutes... The forest would have to find a new Deerling Game champion.
It needs to go on a long journey to reevaluate everything. Goodbye world.]
no subject
Alright, drama deer, hold on a second.
Don't champs go training when they lose?
no subject
Oh yeah. She had said she would play more with it or something if she won, right?]
no subject
[She crosses her arms behind her back, looking coy.]
I mean... if you want to.
no subject
Wait no it's just reaching down to grab some berries since it never got to eat any after all.
Then it bounds towards Maya's side cheerfully. OK! Hide-and-seek senpai! Let's go have fun.
Maya has successfully bonded with Deerling! It is Level 6, but the other stats may be chosen at your discretion!]
