first channelling - action (Forest Shrine)
[Meditation in the forest shrine is always rather peaceful.
You know.
When it isn't cold as balls.
Of course, the cold-as-balls is good for resistance training, which is exactly why Maya is out there, her duskull, Shi, hovering above her head. She wears her usual furisode, crouched on the ground where she's cleared a space of snow.
After a good few hours worth of meditation, she decides that it'd be good to take a walk-- perhaps to encounter some pokémon (or perhaps just to regain feeling in her hands) or to see if anyone else is out walking along the forest path. As Shi slides into her hiding place in Maya's hair, Maya rubs her hands together and sets out to explore.]

[....yeeeup.]
Not yet. I mean, nobody has in a really long time. Except my mom. My mom did, but it-- well, that person died again anyway.
But I swear it's possible! She really did do it!

Don't worry, I believe you. But it's quite strange that this channelling technique isn't better known.
and then my computer died :'D
[She shrugs, shaking her head.]
It's not weird at all. No one believes in stuff like that anymore.
oh jeez! that's pretty awful. I hope it's all fixed now!
IT IS as of yesterday I'm glad
And even if they did, our physical forms don't change all that much. It'd be pretty easy to make people think it's a trick, don't you think?
[Especially with what powers Pokémon have.]
Woohoo! \o/
[Granted, it won't completely remove all suspicion, but it should be enough to give most people pause.]
Re: Woohoo! \o/
I mean, I can't just channel a spirit without permission, you know? It's really rude to the person at rest.
And even if I did...
[EXASPERATED, THEATRICAL SIGH.]
Some people'll find any reason not to believe in something, you know?
SLAMS BACK IN
Indeed. It's quite an annoyance.
[But let's be real, most people have perfectly valid reasons for disbelieving Jade, considering his fondness for telling flagrant lies just because misleading people is fun.]
And how do you obtain permission? Are the wishes of the living enough, or must you communicate with the dead?
[It's still difficult for him to grasp the fact that there's something after death. Obviously, the existence of Ghost Pokemon shows that spirits of some kind exist, but from what Jade had discovered those are more exceptional circumstances. For the majority, however, death remains a mystery, one that Jade could never solve, despite his best efforts.]
ALSO SLAMS BACK IN...
Nah, you gotta ask them-- I mean, well, you don't ask them.
[She shifts a little, crossing her arms, and moving her feet. Her feet aren't cold or anything, shh.]
It's like, okay, say I start a channelling session. If the ghost doesn't wanna concede or anything, they won't let me channel them, y'know? Or if their spirit is too weak and I could channel them anyway, I'll feel it-- that they don't wanna be channelled.
I can't do it if they don't want to, no matter how much someone living wants it.

My my, you're quite considerate of the feelings of the dead.
[It might have been a compliment, but as always, it's difficult to tell when it comes to Jade.]
Now, are you finished with your meditation?

[She gives Jade a sort of suspicious look, but shrugs, stuffing her arms in the sleeves of her kimono. Even more suspicious is Shi, who slides slowly back over Maya's shoulder to eye Jade.]
Yeah, I guess. I mean, I was just kinda hanging out.
