[With all the drama that had gone on with the invasion and other things Ruby really didn't understand, he hadn't wanted to make an introductory post on the Warp Band Network until it had calmed down a little. He hadn't wanted to seem insensitive... but mostly, he didn't want his Pokemon to be over looked. They were too good looking for that, and he hoped to introduce them all especially with the new additions. So The video feed opens to a young boy about eleven or so years old with glasses sliding down his nose while he configures the settings. They're quickly taken off (don't want to look like a nerd) before he shuffles back a little with a sweeping gesture. He's in some kind of small room from the look of it.]

Hello, Union! My name's Ruby, and I'm here to show you the new up and coming Pokemon Contest Champions! They're in prime, adorable condition!

[He tilts the camera down to show a Buneary, Ralts, Skitty, and Budew posing in what look like hand crafted outfits and hats. Ruby's knitted them himself and sewed the clothing with careful hands. They're good quality, perhaps not at a professional tailor level but certainly created with love and talent.]

I only wish you didn't have to see them in black and white! Introducing Nene the Buneary, Ruru the Ralts, Coco the Skitty, and Dede the Budew! Coco and Ruru have already won Cute and Smart in the Normal Rank contests! ....I know they're not very popular in Union yet, but they'll be super stars soon!

I made their outfits all on my own; I know you're impressed so we could work something out if you're interested in a fitting for your own Pokemon! I can also offer grooming and advice for Pokeblocks, Poffins, and Pokepuffs! Don't hesitate! I could really use the money.

[Ruby can later be found outside in Union with the Pokemon he introduced over the video, plus one Sewaddle dolled up in her own decorative leaf bonnet and a cute cotton neck ruffle with polka dots. She'd helped sew it herself, the reason Ruby had bonded with her in the first place. He's not sure a Bug Type has a place in contests, but her sewing skills were more than enough to put her on his team. He hadn't introduced her on the video because she wasn't ready for contests, and didn't know how to properly pose... Luckily Budew and Buneary seemed to get it naturally, so Ruby had high hopes. Leading the well groomed Pokemon into the park, the boy sat down at one of the picnic tables and set them up on the surface of the table. Opening his backpack, he pulled out a grooming kit and started to nitpick at them, clipping a lock of fur here, shining a petal there. He's very particular about how they look, and wants to make sure they're looking just fine if they'll be out practicing their routines...]

There we go, good girl Nene.

[He smooths out one of the Buneary's ears and she blushes a little, shy for her trainer. Then she hops down onto the grass so Coco can get her turn.]

Hey! Don't run off, you can't get your fur grass stained!

Working hard, Ruby?

I am! I want to take photographs of everyone for the next big contest, so Wawa and I made sure everyone is looking their best. Don't you think the lighting out here is great?

[His Sewaddle would be the "Wawa" in question, looking chic in her little neck ruffle and sewing any loose ends of the other Pokemon's clothing in quietly while their trainer talks.]

I thought since Miss Haruka could pass out fliers for that race, we could advertise contests somehow! They'd get more popular!

It certainly shows. [she nods at all the impeccably dressed and groomed Pokemon. And oh wow, a competent Sewaddle. That's certainly a sight.

Have a chuckle at your enthusiasm. It's cute, and it's nice to see.] Your Pokemon are adorable. They shouldn't have any problem getting attention.

Toge! [they certainly have Togepi's attention. She wiggles her little arms at Sewaddle, still held in Michiru's arms. C'mooon, she wants to go and see what they're doing!]

[Wawa leans up to inspect Togepi before going into Ruby's little bag and pulling out an extra hair bow, offering it up to the baby Pokemon. It's blue with white stripes.]

Thank you! I'm so glad someone else can appreciate their hard work.

Do you take part in these contests a lot?

[Michiru sets Togepi on the table, but she'll keep a hold on the eggbaby - mostly to keep her from messing with Ruby's stuff. Togepi seems excited at being offered A Thing! She has no idea what it is, but she'll try to take it.]

[Wawa puts the bow on Togepi's head, using a piece of sticky thread to stick it to her head since she doesn't have any fur.]

{There! You look so pretty now!}

[Wawa doesn't see herself as much of a fashionista, but she loves dressing other Pokemon up.]

I've been doing them since... uhm, a couple months ago. [He can't exactly say 'since I ran away,' can he?] We already have two ribbons!

[Togepi's reaching up, trying to take whatever The Thing is ~~and maybe stuff it in her mouth~~. She's a bit young to understand, but Wawa's positive tone of voice distracts her and she responds happily anyway.]

Prii! [and she's waving her little arms at the other Pokemon.]

Congratulations are in order, I see. [she's...not quite sure why you're in the Force when you've clearly got a passion for something else, but.

Hmm.] I don't recall much about the contests, but they're judged on more than just appearances, yes?

Show her your ribbons!

[Coco and Ruru pose, their little normal rank ribbons pinned to the front of their dresses. They're very proud of these. Wawa takes the ribbon out of Togepi's mouth gently and puts it back on her head.]

You're judged first on beauty, whether their fur is shiny and they look nice and they're well taken care of that sort of thing. Then they judge them on their technical skill with their moves. They're rated on five categories; Smart, Tough, Cute, Cool, and of course Beauty!

[Michiru smiles brightly at the two of them. Geez, those Pokemon are cute, and Michiru might have a soft spot for Ralts in general.] That's quite a feat! You must have worked exceptionally hard.

[at least Togepi didn't get a chance to really nom on the bow. She's easily distracted, however, and immediately tries to reach for Wawa's polka dotted neck ruffle.

Ruby gets a smile too.] They're certainly a credit to their Trainer. And it certainly seems more complicated than straight tournaments.

[this is the sort of thing Michiru should excel at, if she had the inclination.]

[Wawa will let Togepi touch it so long as she doesn't pull too hard. After all, she's very keen on showing off her work.]

I don't think it's too complicated... The routines can get more and more complex, but the true focus is on the coordination of your Pokemon! Once you have that down, the system is just kind of there to keep up.

[Togepi thinks it's awesome and colorful!! She might also decide that chewing on it is the best way to show her appreciation!

...Alright, so Michiru decides to save Wawa's neck ruffle and gently detaches it from Togepi's grasp.]

Coordination with other Pokemon? [or the Trainer?]

The trainer, usually, but it would be really cool to do a routine with more than one Pokemon! They're judged by they're styles though, so you'd have to have more than one Cute type or Smart type or whatever.

[Usually a contest trainer will only have one of each... but he has two Cute types. Now Michiru has him thinking! Ruby also saved Wawa from Togepi's baby chewing, letting her sit up on his shoulder and wiping off any baby spit with a bit of disgust.]

[at least Michiru is still holding onto the baby, so she can't attempt to follow her new friend.]

Are these types predetermined? [that...sounds a little unfair.]

No, each move has a type. Growl is a Cute Type move, for instance! But with the right Pokeblock recipes you can raise their Cuteness over the other types, so it's worth it to have a Pokemon in each category so they're not overwhelmed.

[well, then. It doesn't sound that different from Training, really. And wow, when did food have this many effects?]

You're certainly lucky to have found companions who like this just as much as you do.

Yeah! They all love contests! Wawa is shy, so she's not into it, but she helps me make outfits for it.

[peering at that Wawa a little more closely] Does she? I hadn't realized Sewaddle were capable of that until they evolved.

[probably because the Sewaddle she knows the best is mostly incompetent.]

Well, she helps me design the clothes that I sew mostly. I figure it's good practice for her for when she's a Leavanny.

[Awww, poor Natto. Ruby doesn't think you're incompetent...... well, maybe a little.]

[ Roxas was out and about with a few of his Pokemon. Specifically Sora the Sylveon, of course, as well as a Shiny Sentret, a Illumise, and a Bayleef. He had just come back from the Tropical Island but his Pokemon seem insistent that he tries to stay away from "home" just a bit longer.

So while they're outside it's Evangeline that notices Ruby and his Pokemon. Having her own little decorative Star Pendant on one of her feelers she notices the grooming kit as well as the decorative items his other Pokemon had and started to float over in curiosity. ]

--? Eva?

[ Time to follow the bug Pokemon over to Ruby with his other three Pokemon in tow. ]

[The first thing Ruby notices is the Illumise, and while she's very pretty she's still a Bug Type... Even with Sewaddle, Ruby's still not used to them and thinks they're kind of gross. This one is pretty though! He looks between her and her star pendant.]

Hey! Did your trainer give you that? It looks nice.

[Sewaddle, protector of Ruby's fashion kit, offers Evangeline one of the little extra bows they'd made practicing for their contest outfits.]

[ Eva twirls in midair happily. Yes her trainer did give this to her! And ooo that bow looks so pretty so she'll accept the offer and put it on her other feeler before twirling again.

Meanwhile Sora sees how happy Eva seems to be and bounds ahead of Roxas and his other two Pokemon. He wants to see what all this is about! Lacey follows, but Lulu the Shiny Sentret just puts on her pink shades and stays behind Roxas. She's too cool for these people and their bows. ]

[When Ruby sees the Sylveon... well, any kind of composure goes out the window. Right away, he gets down off the bench to admire him, clasping his hands in awe, a literal sparkle in his eyes.]

You're so CUTE! Oh my gosh, you're perfect! You're everything that adorable represents! Your fur looks so soft and shiny, and your bows...

[He rambles on about Sora's adorableness, completely oblivious to Roxas approaching. His Buneary notices though, jealous of the Sylveon's sudden attention, and hops over to see him, twirling a little in her handmade skirt to show it off.]

{Hey cutie pie! Don't mind him, he's gaga over all sorts of sugary things, like me for instance!}

[ It's a good thing that Sora like attention! But wow he's never gotten this much attention and compliments about how adorable he is this is very new to him. But it makes him flick his feelers happily because this means they can become friends right??

Meanwhile Roxas had finished walking up to the group and looks down at the Buneary. He doesn't say anything but that's because Lulu hops in front, pink shades and all, to respond to the Buneary. ]

{ Sugary things? Bleh. Cool thinks are so much better! }

{They're not! Sugar sweet is the best!}

[Nene will continue to argue this while Ruby looks up from Sora briefly to wave at Roxas.]

Is this Pokemon yours? He's absolutely perfect!

{Nu-uh! Cool is the best!}

[ Yeaah... Roxas is just going to let those two argue and talk to Ruby instead. ]

Y-Yeah... His name is Sora. [ Pause ] What do you mean by 'perfect'?

He's beautiful and cute! He radiates it, he has a flawless coat and color, and the shiniest guys... You don't battle with him, do you?

[He asks that like battling with the Sylveon would be treasonous.]

[ Oh.

Well.

Roxas rubs the back of his head. ]

Not ... until recently.

[ Before like last week when he want Intensive Training with Blue only when it was necessary would Sora battle. Mainly because Roxas was busy being a zombie and getting him out of that state was more important. ]

... What's a pokemon contest?

[She tilts her head, looking rather puzzled. ]

A Pokemon Contest is like a battle of beauty! Pokemon are judged in one of five categories; Smart, Tough, Cute, Cool, or Beauty. There's an appearance round where Pokemon are judged on how beautiful they are and how much effort they put into their appearances, and then there's a showcase of their moves and techniques.

[He can go on and on talking about this...]

How interesting! Showcasing a pokemon's abilities in a contest of beauty like that makes me think of courtship dances I've seen some pokemon perform back home.

That's probably really similar! I'd love to see that... It must be beautiful!

[He clasps his hands together, eyes shining.]

Two beautiful Pokemon in love...

It is. Of course, it's advised to watch it from a distance especially if they're aggressive ones like Sharkpedo.

[That manages to make her giggle.]

Sharpedo...? Those things are ugly though, aren't they? Who'd want to watch that?

[She shrugs. Half the time it was by accident.]

Physical beauty isn't always everything. A Sharpedo may not be appealing to the eyes but the way moves and attacks can be. When picking a mate, my elders have told me everything must taken into consideration.

... How much money we talking?

[ She does not want to spend money on contest stuff. But she also knows that some members of her team (mostly shimmer, but Sasha to a lesser extent) she knows have been interested in stuff like that for a while. But. She can't deny those pokemon do look impressive. Sort of. Pretty? ]

It'd depend on what you want, the size of the Pokemon, the cost of materials...

[Ruby goes right into business mode, turning the camera back to himself and putting his glasses back on to show her some of the clothing he's already made, hanging up on the wall behind him.]

My Pokemon are all tiny and adorable, but I could sew something for a big ugly one too.

How would you dress a fish?

[ This is curious. Genuinely. Curious ]

Hm...

[He looks contemplative then...]

If I got a water proof material and figured out how to keep them from slipping out of it I could probably do it.

Only one of mine too concerned with looking cute's Shimmer, and she's a Lumineon, if you ever heard of those. Big sparkly fish.

Lumineon... I don't think I've seen one, but if she's sparkly I'm sure she's pretty! I could try my best if I got her measurements.

And you'll spot me a price there so I can know if it's worth it. Appointment for the Water habitat?

I'm glad to see you're so confident, neighbor.

[Rise just happens to be brushing and styling a purring Eevee as she replies to this. Not that Ruby reminded her everyone needed grooming or that she's not going to let a kid show her Pokémon up or anything.]

Of course I'm confident.

[He rolls his eyes dramatically. How can Rise think his head isn't in the game 100% of the time?]

I still have a lot of work to do, but everything's going according to plan!

Already got a grand strategy in place for the next Contest, huh? Wouldn't that require knowing what the theme's going to be?

[Sure he's like 2/3 of her age, but there's so few people around who get really fired up about Contests she can't help but play off of his confidence.]

Contests? I didn't realize Union enjoyed such frivolous things.

They're not frivolous! They're just as, if not more important than battling!

[Ruby looks back at the screen, baffled.]

Wouldn't you rather your Pokemon be happy doing something they enjoyed rather than forcing them to fight with you?
