Plot Description: Melaka proposed a trip out to the Scorched Forest to both look for those soils that the Council wanted to look for and also as part of a mission she had to try to find the source of the forest's continued burned state. There were two takers. Can they accomplish both? Only one? Who knows, let's see.

[ So the plan was the meet up in the morning and set out there. Melaka has changed up her normal attunement on the warp band to replace Tiny with Shiram so that Shiram can see his homeland again. Other than that though, she's just eager and ready to set out, with none of her pokemon out initially and some juice in a bottle in her hand. They set out!! ]

[The heat from the stone is intense as Melaka approaches. It could very well be that this stone generates the heat that fuels the entirety of the hot springs - and keeps the Scorched Forest from ever recovering.]

Oh wow... just is a dangerous level of heat from this thing...

[ But still, she presses on. To see how close she can get before it's physically painful. The heat of the stone's actually distorted her vision around it the way mirages tend to happen so she can't quite make out anything around it, but she tries anyway to get a feel for the area ]

[The feel is that it's hot!

Melaka will be able to reach the stone without being pushed away, but it will be unpleasant. Touching the stone is probably a less than stellar idea, but perhaps it's possible to chip pieces away.]

[ Yeah that does not sound... sound.

Maybe she can hack off some of it with this ax she has ]

[She'll be able to do so, although if she's able to actually do anything with it is another question.

Perhaps someone of a more inventive mindset can figure out a use.]

[ If nothing else, Ranger HQ, the council, and her partners deserve samples. So she'll hack off maybe eight pieces, if she's able to hack off that many shards. Now she just needs to figure out if they're too hot to put in a bag or something ]

[They will cool a bit when removed from the rock, although they continue to radiate a residual heat. Eight small slivers is fine, though she probably doesn't want to hack at it much more with too much force.]

[ It's a careful process... ! ... Mostly! It is still an ax, and while she makes clean cuts for the most part, there is one stray strike which might have hit things just a bit too hard ]

[A rush of heat will envelop her at the strike! She'll be alright, though probably suffer a first-degree burn or two.

It may time to get out of here and report back with the results of their finding.]
