Bar Crawlin'

It's Friday night and Ezreal decided to take the esteemed Luxanna Crownguard to a bar generally frequented by Delvers, Guardsmen, Rangers, and all sorts of other rough-and-tumble men and women who make up Union's thriving blue-collar community. The bar, of course, is quite a dive, with loud, boisterous people having just finished a day's work coming to take a load off and get frightfully hammered.

[This is an open mingle post for anybody who might, for whatever reason, find themselves in a dirty, grimy bar full of loud sweaty people on a Friday night. There will be mingling and, of course, the inevitable bar fight. Enlightened are encouraged to use their powers interestingly but remember - no lethal damage! It's all in good fun. Overenthusiastic enlightened may find themselves responsible for large chunks of the repair bill for the bar, be warned.

Also of note: legal drinking age is 18 years old but this bar is likely reasonably easy to get into if you're a bit underage.]

Open! - Flirtation highly encouraged.

Imogen was no stranger to this bar. Mostly as it was one of the first places far from the grasp of nobility she found herself when she... went to find a way to be herself in this world. So she often found herself in the bar to take a load off, be loud, energetic, and just a little tipsy.

She did her best to keep herself from getting smashed, as she wanted to have fun, not get in too much trouble. Unless it was the right sort for her. But she's dressed in pinks and blues, with her hair up, and was spinning in a barstool as she waited for a drink... or someone to talk to!

*She grins brightly.*

I just think what you'd wear, and do absolutely nothing like that!

A peacock outfit! That's something I haven't done.

*You're making it so much better by complaining.*

And most of the Pokemon aren't dangerous for me, maybe you need to train more. Or work on your communication skills.

*Imogen picks her outfits very carefully... then puts on whatever, but usually it makes Pokemon see her as less of a threat. Usually.*

I'd show you but you can't see in the dark. Didn't know that's what you liked.

And I don't wear my fancy stuff while I'm in the old city unless I'm having a picnic with some of the locals.

The unfortunate part about Pamela's Enlightened powers was that immunity to most toxins meant that she was physically capable of getting drunk. Or if she was capable, it would take so much that it wouldn't be worth it. Being affluent and a member of a noble house didn't mean that she had unlimited wealth, after all.

She'd picked a sweet tasting drink and was nursing it. When she spotted Imogen, she strolled over to greet her.

"Imogen, hello," she said with a pleasant smile.

"Miss Pamela Isley, hello."

Imogen smiled warmly, but did that thing where she greets everyone politely and by full name and title, if they have either. Her drink choice was decided by color, lime green, but it was pleasing and not too alcoholic for her.

"What brings you to this drinking establishment?"

"Today my parents started hinting that now that I'm eighteen, I'm old enough to start seriously considering an arranged marriage. That's when I 'remembered' that I had plans to go out and meet some friends and really needed to excuse myself so that I wouldn't be late."

Her parents had never been the most attentive, but now that she was a young adult, they always seemed to find the time to drop hints that they thought it was high time that she look into getting married. Even if they didn't bother asking about her research or about her travels more than half the time.

"I just didn't specify who I was meeting," she said with a wry smile.

"Ahhhh, yes, that talk. I was thirteen the first time Natalie brought it up," Noble families had different time tables on when to start finding prospective suitors for the proper political edge in these things. Imogen's father had no interest in this, his daughter was a princess who could be whatever she wished. Imogen's mother, on the other hand, pushed for the conventional as soon as she could.

"She hasn't tried it since I brought a barmaid to a party and made out with her in an unlocked guest room. If that helps."

[personal profile] toxicrevenger 2014-03-18 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
That brought a grin to Pamela's face. Her relationship with her parents was best described as emotionally distant, but she was fairly certain that would get a reaction out of them.

"If they ever become outright pushy rather than mildly annoying, I'll definitely keep that in mind."

She was attracted to both men and women, and would return the flirtations of either as long as the individual flirting was attractive and not in a committed relationship that she knew of. Pamela didn't care much about societal expectations beyond wanting to be an accomplished researcher who was good to her pokemon, but she had no desire to be a relationship wrecker.

The rules about fraternization with the same sex, among the nobles, seemed to waffle between outright disgust, scandalous tapdancing, and stern chiding not to be caught in such affairs. Depending on which portion of the noble houses you ended up with. Naturally Imogen didn't care, and would do what she liked with who she liked.

"I'd offer my assistance in that, but even the blackest Mareep in in the noble houses wouldn't have the same reaction as bringing a commoner home."

Imogen spun lightly in her chair and sipped at her drink some more. She'd never seriously considered Pamela as a romantic entanglement, dating among the noble houses, while interesting in theory, became too complicated. Her reputation she didn't mind, but she knew not everyone would handle the whispers with the same level of not punching anyone in the face that she did.

Pamela's parents were less the sort to be disgusted and more the sort to worry about how it would impact their reputations. In addition to being a noble, her father was a high-ranked engineer. Being a man of science himself, he understood that biological impulses existed - including those toward the same sex. Now, if she were to be publicly out, that would be more of a problem to them.

"That's a very good point. Knowing my parents, they'd be far more distressed about the commoner part. After all, as long as I was being discreet, a relationship with a noble girl could just be interpreted publicly as friendship. But people would talk if I found someone from the lowest social classes..."

Imogen made a dozen odd choices every day that her mother had to try and explain away to save face. By this point it was easier to write Imogen off of the social circuit, and have a new child with her consort. A child raised 'properly.' Imogen was far too much her father's daughter, to ever be controlled.

"I became a Delver, Natalie's answer to most of my activities is... 'community outreach.' Until I get caught with one somewhere compromising. I just wish they would just let go, and let me have my own life without everyone judging..."

I could have sworn I had tagged this.

Lux, it would appear, was already at least slightly ahead of her as far as getting a drink was concerned. She was far from tipsy to be sure, but certainly looked more comfortable than she otherwise would have in a place like this.

"Imogen Moreno." She chose to call her by her first name when teasing, and while that wasn't quite what Lux had in mind, she still smirked. "What are you doing here?"
for_realsies: (You go girl!)

No worries

[personal profile] for_realsies 2014-03-19 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Imogen drank for flavor, and did her best never to overdo it with her poison of choice. So at first she was very pleased to see how relaxed Lady Luxanna Crownguard was in a place that was far earthier than any of the places her family would approve of for her. ...But then she noticed how marinated the other girl was.

Still, this was a lesson the girl had to learn. "Having a quiet drink in a loud bar. Why are you here Lux whoneverpickedalastname," Imogen said the entire phrase as one word, and as if it was Lux's surname. This doesn't mean anything, just that Imogen is especially weird tonight.
ladyofluminosity: (08)

[personal profile] ladyofluminosity 2014-03-19 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Lux wasn't marinated per se--she really only had one drink by this point--but her typing did make it a bit harder to tolerate the stuff. For the most part, she just seemed very comfortable, nothing more. For the time being, at least.

She chuckled at Imogen's name comment. "How can you have a quiet drink in a loud bar, isn't that an oxymoron?" She is legitimately curious about this one, sitting down to wait for an answer.
for_realsies: (Little bit playful!)

[personal profile] for_realsies 2014-03-20 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Part of why Imogen enjoyed her drinks slowly, typing was not to her advantage. But, she had more experience on this front, which helped her out. "My drink is very quiet. See, it isn't making any noise."

That play of words was pretty transparent and shame on Lux for not seeing it coming.

[personal profile] ladyofluminosity 2014-03-20 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
A giggle. "You're right, it is being very cooperative." She really should have, and probably normally would have, but certainly enjoyed the joke. "But seriously, this doesn't seem like your kind of place. I would have figured you'd be somewhere... classier."
for_realsies: (I has evil thought!)

[personal profile] for_realsies 2014-03-20 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Classy isn't fun. I do go to those places, sit, admire the dresses on everyone, but they don't do anything!" When she's in a mind to ogle pretty dresses, she hits the classier drinking places, when she wants to find interesting people, she ends up here.

"Here, here anything can happen! The people are far more... alive, even if their clothes aren't as... you know, classy." Imogen eyes Lux a moment, gauging how much the girl has had, and deciding to see just how far gone she is, "This includes a few... illicit affairs, the kind our parents would frown at."
ladyofluminosity: (08)

[personal profile] ladyofluminosity 2014-03-20 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
She has a ways to go before getting sick-drunk, but is wavering between slightly tipsy and tipping the scales.

"Now I want to see some of these people in pretty dresses." Wholly out of place, but it might serve to be amusing. Lux nods. "I agree! Illicit affairs?" It's hard to say if it's her natural, although slightly crumbling naivete that fuels that question, or somewhat limited cognitive reasoning.
for_realsies: (Wink wink nudge nudge)

[personal profile] for_realsies 2014-03-20 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
"That would make whatever fight breaks out far more colorful, and easier to keep track of."

Imogen was trying to think of a classy and elegant way to frame something that, by its nature, defied the rules of class and was rarely elegant. Well, maybe once, but she was a painter and had an artistic eye. And far, far from what she needed to say, "Lux, many people come to bars looking for people to have sex with. I do it from time to time, when the mood suits me. Not every time, as I do like this place, and the barkeeper is really nice!"

Now to see how drunk Lux is, as Imogen just out and said it.
