Eleventh Snapshot [Action|Video]

[Someone caught the end of that announcement and had to take a minute to stare. He had a vague idea of who that was and of course he caught "general mobilization has begun". He all but knows what that means. Something drops in his stomach. That was an unusual amount of dread for him to come from having a nice visit back home.]

[What the fuck. What the fuck did he miss?]

[Again?]

[He curses and makes a run for his current place of residence, but he'll be running through town if anyone wants to stop him. It's not like he's easy to miss with his loud entourage of pokemon at his heels.]

[To the people taking up residence with Waver, he practically breaks the door down trying to get in, oops.]

Hello!?

[Warpband Post| Video]

[A little later on, Hayato will actually make a post to the network. He's still clearly worried about Things but he's going to put on a smile for the crowd.]

I think I'm going to stop taking vacations, because every time I do something earth-shattering happens. What the hell, Union? Anyway, I'm back. I hope everyone made it home okay. If anyone needs help with anything don't hesitate to ask.

[There's not a lot of the usual joking and humor here today. He sighs a little.]

My original plan when I got back was to make a post about Day of Fire. I guess that's still on the table. Caldera was so impressed with you tree-hugging hooligans that there was a lot of talk about inviting you guys back this year. Might be fun in the face of all this. If anyone's never heard of it, feel free to ask me questions!

[A pause.]

Oi, if I know you, message me to tell me you made it back, yeah?

[And then he shuts the feed off.]

[Adell responds back to Hayato's call, figuring it'd be good courtesy. He did ask, after all.]

Hey, Hayato. I made it back from that little... trip. Safe, alive, and with my Pokemon partners the same way.

[He appreciates that! He answers with a relieved smile.]

Good to hear. You wouldn't mind filling me in on what happened, would you?

I wouldn't mind, no. But you might not believe me, even when I tell you. Hell, what I saw there I'm still working through myself.

[He looks a little surprised for a moment before he smiles, shaking his head.]

I'm pretty hard to surprise these days, you can try me. Do you want to meet up somewhere instead of doing this over the network?

Yeah, I think that'd be for the best. Don't need to be announcing everything to everyone at once, after all.

Got someplace in mind?

Hm...

[What's a good place where they probably won't get overheard.]

You know where Teeter's is?

Yeah, I've been there before once or twice. Meet you there in a bit?

[And he will hurry his way over to Teeters. Luckily its not too much of a trek. He enters the place with his surely Mawowak on his shoulder and a sidebag probably containing notebooks and his camera.]

[He'll look around for a familiar head of red hair.]

[And walk in he does, just a little while later. That red hair is unmistakable, along with the build, and the Blaziken that followed him everywhere. Though this time, he also had a rather large Houndoom in his company, following along at his side.

He looked around inside for Hayato, wondering if he'd been beaten here, and if not, where he should find a seat to wait.]

[Ah, yes, there was plenty of red there for it to catch his eye. He sits up a little straighter having found a table to sit at. He waves his hand with a smile hoping he sees him.]

Oi, Adell!

[When his name is called out he perks up, and looks around, eventually catching Hayato. He smiles and sends a wave back, and approaches at a relaxed pace to take the seat across from Hayato. His Blaziken walked next to the table, and the Houndoom laid down on the floor next to Adell.

He kept his voice relatively low, but still conversational.]

Hey, Hayato. Good to see you. Sorry if I kept you waiting.

Anyway... about what happened. You were right when you assumed it was a big deal. What would you say if I said I told you that I got into a fight with the Emperor of Gigas?

Nah, don't worry about it.

[He waves off any notions about him being late. Goro digs around in his bag for his notebook and hands it to Hayato as Adell starts to talk. He all but stops and stares when he lets what he actually says sink in.]

...You-

[A beat.]

Did you get to punch him, at least.

[Priorities.]

[Adell smiled a little, because those are the best priorities.]

Well, sorta. But I didn't get a flush right hook to his jaw like I wanted. Unfortunately, things... didn't go very well.

[That's when he grew more serious.]

Gigas' technology is a terrifying thing. Their whole underground lair thing that they have going on? Apparently the whole thing is meant to power up their Emperor and his ridiculous battle robot suit... thing. And it only gets worse from there.

[He stares at him like he grew a second head. Battle robot...]

[Granted, he's seen how crazy the technology is there, he's seen what they're capable of doing. Hell he's a product of that. He's had concerns for some time that Gigas in all its miraculous technology, were hiding weapons far beyond what they've seen so far. he doesn't like being right.]

... How worse?

I know, it sounds nuts.

[He leans back in his chair, and slides down a little. His expression darkened considerably.]

But it's true. ...And the worst of it was it seems like the Emperor was stealing power from the imprisoned Regi gods. Draining their power for his own use. And the worst part was, their tech seemed to be doing a damn good job of it.

Our team couldn't even dent the damn machine he was in.

[So a machine that could harness the power of the gods. That's what they were up against- and not even the disguised gods they had with them could make a difference.]

[That didn't bode well at all.]

Gigas didn't like the intrusion I take it. We're going to be at fucking war soon. Fucking hell.

[This had been building up to it- he didn't have a lot of confidence in the idea that Gigas and Union could truly handle an alliance for long. between Gigas' past and Unions desire to right the wrong, it was inevitable.]

[He nodded to Hayato's statement.]

That's right. We will be. But to be honest, if the Emperor had that kind of tech and ability? I think a Gigan war with Union was inevitable. If he wanted more power, to steal the power of the gods themselves, there's no better place to get it. After all, they helped us out before... so they do have a connection to this place.

[Adell's Houndoom audibly sighed, thin wisps of smoke curling from its mouth, seemingly in agreement with what he had said. The Calderan reached down and rested a hand on his partner's head.]

But there's some good news too.

I don't think the Gigan public is keen on going to war with Union. There was an incident during the fight and a lot of Gigan civilians nearly fell to their deaths. But we saved them all. And they saw what was going on with the Emperor. I think there's a good portion of people there who understand what we were after.

[Yeah. That's definitely true. His own bitter bias aside, he didn't see Gigas not wanting to take Union for themselves. Its just Unions own ability to fight them back had kept them at bay for so long.]

[Something cold drops in the pit of his stomach. If that thing had made an appearance two years ago ...Caldera would have been...]

[Don't think about that, Ichimonji.]

Yeah. As much as I hate to admit it, the cease fire was just wishful thinking. I hope we're ready.

["We" because he's transplanted himself here for this long, despite being Calderan. He's a part of Union, too.]

[To that last part, though. He looks up. Surprise momentarily on his face before it's replaced with a smile.]

That should stop surprising me. The people of Gigas really have been oblivious this whole time on what their government has been doing. The people there mean no harm even if they're ignorant to what their City has done.

[A frown.]

I'm worried about them. If they try to rise against the enemy in their own home, who knows what this emperor could do to them.

[That prompted a soft whine from the Houndoom, and Adell scratched him behind the horns.]

I am too. If they rise up, they'll be crushed by the Gigan military, or the Emperor himself. Or maybe he'll send the dissidents to the front lines to be the first ones in the grinder.

There's a lot that can go wrong here. If there's going to be a war, we have to try very hard to minimize casualties on both sides. ...I suppose that goes without saying, doesn't it?

Maybe we'll open some eyes. Maybe some of the Gigans who understand might escape and be safe....

[He pauses.]

[And then his eyes brightly light up.]

...And maybe that's something we can do for them, if we get clever.

[He hated the idea of Gigans getting stomped for trying to rise against something as sinister as that old fuck in a tin can. He's frowning deep in thought until Adell lights up like that.]

Eh? How so?

Well, it's a risky idea, and unfortunately, I don't have the ability to do it myself.

But you know how some Psychic Pokemon and some Earthkin can Teleport, right? That'd be a relatively easy way to get Gigans who want to escape out of danger.

...Though it doesn't give us a way to communicate with someone who might be in danger.

[...Well now. That was a thought.]

It's not like Union hasn't taken in refugees before.

[A pause.]

If things get that bad ...it might be a good idea to look into. After all, those people didn't ask for any of this. The last thing I want is innocent people getting crushed in the crossfire- or for just having the gall to speak out.

[he knew someone who could teleport- but this would have to be a project organized by more than just a few people.]
