Book 001 [Action]
[The residents of Union may find a new face walking the streets upon everyone's returned from the battlefield that was Sanctuary. A slim young man, short of stature, with a notebook in hand traversed the city corridors with wide, curious, and somewhat apprehensive eyes-- it was as if he had never seen anything quite like this before.
A few people may even suspect that the notion is completely true.
Peeking out the top of the heavy looking bag slung across his shoulders is a tiny Foongus, unawares that the markings on his red and white cap are providing excellent camoflage for the few pokeballs that are hidden within. Occassionally it may chitter and squeak in excitement, but it largely stays quiet.
After all, the young academic is on a mission.
Waver flits in and out of various shops, eyes sharp as he seemed to look for something very particular. Several somethings, to be exact-- or someones. Though he had only spoken to a few people in Sanctuary, he wanted to give the few he had interacted with a proper thank you somehow. He wasn't certain how to go about doing that, but the lack of certainty had never stopped him before.
Besides keeping in line with proper politeness, there were further things that he needed. The bag he carried was the only thing he brought with him on his travels, and he's well aware that he needs more than what was currently packed. Clothes, for the heat of summer that was slowly blanketing the streets. Books, food, and tea were also on the list.
And a place to sleep. And a job.
He may not look like much, but he was more than able and willing to prove to everyone that it was horrifically unwise to judge the contents of a book by the condition of its cover.]

[He calls out when he sees Waver, having picked him out from his body language and that apprehensive feeling. Once he made sure he got the person's attention, he grabs a pomeg from the fruit stand and tossed it lightly to him]
Helps to look around to get a feel for a new place.
no subject
Yeah, I just got here, [He confessed, eyeing the stranger warily.] This place is...big.
no subject
Sorry, thought I gave you a little more warning. And yeah, it's big isn't it?
no subject
It's very big, and different. [He shoved his hands into his pockets, completely brushing off the other comment. He didn't need to think of his failings any further right now.]
no subject
[He moves in, the tip of his long tail swaying lazily as he half bows, eyes glittering as he gave a playful smile]
I can show you around, I'm always happy to help someone in need, a beautiful woman such as yourself.
no subject
[He huffed, drawing himself up to his full height which, the stranger would note, was barely more than that of a Hypno. The conversation about the city was forgotten by this point.]
I'm a man. My family is a little short, but that doesn't change anything.
no subject
I'm really sorry! I didn't mean anything by it. Let's pretend I didn't put my foot in my mouth.
no subject
Waver stared at him hard for a tense moment before heaving a dramatic sigh.]
Idiot. Just stop talking-- if this is the start of a trend, I need to find a way to make myself more clear....
no subject
Again, my sincere apologies. I'm Sinbad, Merchant by trade, late from the Archipelago.
no subject
[He hated lying. But, after the recent debacle in Sanctuary, he was wary of revealing his identity openly to anyone inside Union-- even a fellow outsider.]
no subject
[He studies waver a moment, but he seems satisfied with the introduction]
From the North huh? Offer to show you around still stands, just without the flirting.
no subject
All right, [he said after a moment's pause, nodding his head.] Where are the places that you think are the most important here?
no subject
[He gestures to one of the tallest buildings]
Every floor is an environment suited to specific pokemon, and it's good if you have ones that can't live with you for one reason or another.
[Sinbad pauses a moment, tail swaying faintly, briefly making a question mark shape as he runs through the details in his head]
And what else is important depends on what you plan to do. Generally those would be the marketplace, the Swords station - ah, right, Swords of the Savior is the law enforcement group here if you have a problem to report. Just ask what you'd need and I'll try to show you the way.

His Foongus, quiet until now, peeked it's little head out of Waver's bag at the mention of having pokemon. He waved merrily at the stranger, and gave Waver little choice about his next course of action.]
Where is this Habitat? [He asked, gently rubbing the odd little mushroom with a tip of his finger. When in Caldera, it was wise to do as the Calderan's did, and the same could be applied to Union. He would need to learn how to use these Warp Bands one day.]
And, after that, where is the library?
[....because he wouldn't be satisfied if he didn't get to the library.]
no subject
Follow me and I'll show you. Oh, that's Badr by the way, I had him since he was an egg - I think he's about close to evolving. And what's your name?
[He turns his head back to question the Foongus as he goes to lead the way]
Library? sure, I can show you there after the Habitat, and think you might want to visit the university as well?
no subject
[Orpheus chirped in response to his name.]
And I have another on my team-- a water type called Atlas. He, uhm, doesn't exactly have legs right now...
[Not that it stopped the Tympole from being an active part of his life. He didn't like bringing Atlas out where it was difficult to maneuver because he knew how frustrating being put in those positions could be.]
...there's a University?
no subject
[He nods slightly as he helps Waver weave through the crowds]
I understand, Vepar's stuck in a fishbowl until he evolves, doesn't stop him from pretending to drown for attention. And tip - don't be afraid to use some elbows, it gets really crowded and sometimes people don't notice you.
[He suddenly stiffens, then grabs Waver by the shirt to pull him closer, yanking the young man out of the way of a falling crate. The Hauler and his Machoke rushes to catch it while letting out a mix of swears and apologies, then Sinbad continues on as if nothing happened]
But yeah, it's in the same building as the Library and Lab. Only really used the library myself.
no subject
Saying nothing of the incident, he let himself be dragged along.]
This is some city, if those facilities are open for everyone to use!
no subject
[One could practically hear the fingerquotes around the last part, his tail thrashing]
Labs, not sure - you'd have to ask them. And just keep your eyes open, people are generally careful, but accidents do happen and not everyone can sense trouble coming.
no subject
[There was a serious note to his voice, as if he fully intended to make use of those facilities.]
Most people in labs do pay attention, because of the accidents. It's a necessary, but sometimes dangerous part of learning anything.
[--don't think that he didn't catch the subtle implication behind those words, though. It would be better to pursue that later.]
no subject
[He lead him to the Habitat, neck craning as he stares at the dizzily high tower]
And here it is, the Habitat. A floor for every type.
no subject
....How did they even manage to make this?
no subject
[He shrugs, it's cool but for now engineering feats weren't exactly on his list of things to study - not yet anyways]
no subject
[It was definitely something that he would need to explore further in the future. So much in this city was utterly fascinating.]
