The Compromise
At long last, the missing Enhanced have been recovered or otherwise taken care of, and the wilderness is safe to travel once again. The efforts of the people of Union have not gone without loss or sacrifice... but on the whole, the results were better than anyone might have hoped. Several of the Enhanced even seem to have grown attached to Union and its people - but there is no point in becoming too friendly, after all. It would be impossible for them to survive in this place...
On the eve before they are set to depart, the Warp Band flickers on, and the faces of Rory and Crystal are displayed once more.
"Well done, Union. Despite the odds, you've succeeded beyond our wildest expectations. I believe the world is once again in your debt. We will be leaving on the morrow - unfortunately, our supply of medication is limited, and these people do require treatment at an adequate facility."
A very slight pause.
"Or at least... that was the original plan." An odd, half-formed smile comes to Rory's lips. "We have heard the concern that it may not be in the best interests of the Enhanced to return to Gigas. And it is true, after all, that under the present circumstances, the Team is complicit in any work that they may choose to perform. That is why... after consulting with my superiors, we have a proposal to make."
The Warp Band pans out to show a few of the Enhanced: Prisca, Naomi, and Kuon.
"We have spoken to each of the Enhanced, and these individuals have expressed a desire to remain here. After analysis, we have determined that they are also stable enough to survive on outpatient care for a few weeks. Therefore, if you should so desire, our Team will aid Union in the construction of a facility capable of housing and treating the Enhanced. As we profess to be a neutral organization, we would be delighted to assist Union in taking a few... technological steps forward at this time. The choice is entirely yours, of course - we won't push one way or another."
Rory steps back into view of the camera with a graver expression.
"However... I would warn you not to make this choice lightly. With the construction of these facilities, you may well see a number of Enhanced choosing to, ah... depart from Gigas to settle here - and the extent of their potential instability is no laughing matter, as you have all observed for yourselves. I will say that Gigas, for all their prowess, still experiences disturbances of this nature on a semi-regular basis, though not on this scale. I have every confidence that they will thrive and succeed here in Union, but you must be aware of the potential consequences.
"I will say also that while I am sure you will be greatly tempted to ask us to go... I would strongly, strongly recommend that you do not attempt to keep them without the assistance of Dr. Verdine’s team. That would be... frankly disastrous."
Rory concludes with a bow.
"Please consult amongst yourselves or with us if you have any questions. We hope to receive an answer by morning. Dr. Verdine and I will be departing regardless, but if you should accept our offer, we'll send a team of scientists and engineers here within the week.
"Good night."
((As the text says, the people of Union will need to make a decision here! Namely, whether or not they want to house the Enhanced. We'll open up an OoC poll that you may respond to over the next few days; while the Council will be making the decision ICly, they’ll be keeping an ear out for the general thoughts of the city; you may imagine that any characters invested in the decision will be drumming up support ICly as well. Thus, the vote is up to the players. Please only vote once, regardless of how many characters you have.
The decision made here will impact the course of the game. You may also choose to oust Team Evolution and fight to keep them without their assistance; however, as warned, this will have dire consequences due to Union's lack of knowledge and experience. Feel free to use this post to thread amongst yourselves!
