09: action

1) Verdant Forest

The past few weeks, training's had to take a back seat for Kanji and his crew. Sorting out the store, organizing and making masks for Lenna's party, and the whole dream thing... yeah. (School had been crammed in there now and then. Somehow.)

In any case... time to make up for lost ground.

He's in the forest, not far from the city gates, out with some of his crew. And for some of them, it looks like change is afoot.

A Sylveon sits by his side, 'ribbons' waving slightly, as he ponders just how to give something accessories that already comes with them. In front of him, his Axew and Golett are sparring: he yells encouragement at the pair.

"C'mon, guys! You can do it!"

2) In Union

Oh, hell yeah.
This is more like it. Watch out below, Union.

Rocketing through the skies, here we see one boy and his giant mechanical ghost, Kanji holding onto and held tight by his newly-evolved Golurk. Sure, he's flown on Pokémon in the past, but never one one he's raised himself. It's been a hell of a journey, too...

So, here he is, here they are, swooping around the place - leaving a trail of cheers and apologies behind (and probably some destruction, too, as the Golurk gets the hang of steering its own flight)... and okay, eventually, they'll be landing.

[ A skarmory streaks past and, as if realizing what he had just overtook, banks around in an elegant arc to join the flight. Metalhawk lines himself parallel to (if not a little higher than) Golurk and Kanji, and matches their speed. ]

Hey. I think we've got company.

[With a free hand, he waves at the Skarmory.]

[ You sure do! Metalhawk Ska's at them (loose translation: "First time flying?"). He swerves beneath an outstretched branch and weaves to their other side. ]

[Unfortunately, Kanji's not the best at understanding the comment - the Golurk looks over at Metalhawk, at least, dodging pretty damn well for a hunk of stone and metal and ... whatever else Ghost-types are made of.]

[ Back in pokemonspeak or whatever it's called, Metalhawk compliments the Golurk for its skillful weaving and narrow miss of the corner of that building they just passed. He comments that, of the short time he's flown with them, he already thinks Golurk's getting better at this flying business, but please be more careful. ]

[A runner at heart, Rei liked to take a circuit along the paths around the city during the times when he actually stayed within the protective gates of Union. The air was refreshingly sharp and crisp that day, a silent reminder that the seasons were continually changing, but it didn't seem to bother Rei in the slightest. Trailing not far behind was a little Vulpix, who had ostensibly followed her human friend outside for reasons that Rei could only interpret as her being worried about him catching a cold....

Both runner and pokemon stopped when they heard the sounds of a battle, and another person's cheers.]

...Kanji-kun?

[He turns to look as he hears the voice.]

Hey, man. ...Okay, guys, let's take five.

[Rei just smiles brightly at the sheer level of discipline he was seeing in this.]

It's a good day to be out training, isn't it?

[There are a total of two things Kanji's disciplined about. Training and crafts.]

Well, ya know what they say. No time like the present, huh?

[Did someone say, training!? Well Kanji certainly isn't alone! There's a seven year old running around with a Vulpix at his side, and a Noctowl supervising above them.] Run faster, Vulpix! Otherwise he's gonna catch us!

[Not too far off behind Goten is a rather large, steel monstrosity chasing after them. The ground even shakes a little as it stomps along.] You don't want to be "it" again!

[Okay they're not technically training, they're playing tag. But to some, it feels like training, mostly to the Pokemon that's doing the chasing at the moment! Well, hopefully all the ruckus doesn't interrupt anything, and if that doesn't, well, the fact that all of them are b-lining towards Kanji and his group of Pokemon more than likely will!]

Whoa-!

[Ah, crap! The little group split up quickly as Goten's posse come rushing through.]

[Well, Goten and Vulpix certainly fly by, but Aggron's going to slow to a stop and promptly sit down. Man, who knew this much running would tire him out so quickly.

Now that there's a lack of stomping and shaking, Goten also stops and turns right around to see what's up. He'll jog back, though looking to have a lot more energy to burn compared to the others.] Okay, break time! [The two Pokemon sigh in relief now that they've been given a moment a rest.]

Oh, hey Mister! [Goten greets Kanji with a wave now that he's noticed him!] We didn't interrupt anything did we?

[Grumble. Grumble. Hell, he can't be too mad at a kid, but...]

[Rise just...stares up at the new figure in the sky. Gyarados are impressive and human flight is thrilling, but this is something she has most definitely never seen anything like before.]

[Wahoo! There's a whole lot of charging around going on until Kanji spots her down there - he gives a signal, and the two descend, hovering nearby.]

That...is definitely you, Kanji!

[She calls that over, not feeling in the mood for sudden telepathy today.]

I didn't even know Golurks could do that!

[Sensible. Telepathy would probably have resulted in a crash.]

Heh. He didn't either until earlier.

[Chie spots Kanji zooming around on his Golurk partway through their aerial acrobatics, waving up at him and running after them on the ground. Once he lands, she comes jogging up excitedly.]

Yeah, we were trainin' earlier today. He ain't the only one, either.

[Feliks vaguely recognizes that voice, and catches a glimpse of Kanji as they swoop down low. He finds himself smiling at the sight of him hanging on to such a strange, huge Pokemon, at the obvious thrill in his voice.]

[He taps his warp band, and settles himself behind the Altaria that appear's fluffy, cottony wings; it takes him a minute to manage to get up to Kanji's level.]
