So.

[The video is of Isabela sitting and looking rather bored on the beach south of Union. She's looking a bit annoyed, which seems to have gone entirely unnoticed by the Lombre playing in the tide pools over her shoulder.]

As fast and fancy as Banzu's mechano-boat is, I've found myself longing for the more traditional seafaring of befriending a Water-type and riding around on it. Unfortunately, my attempts at fishing have resulted only in the little red guys and a new pair of boots, and I haven't got the patience to teach the former how to go all water-dragon.

[Lombre turns from his splashing and looks rather offended.] You're neither a fish nor big enough to ride, stop giving me that look.

[Isabela turns back to the camera.]

What I'm asking is can anyone spot me a decent fishing rod, either borrowed or built? I know everyone's busy fighting-slash-helping those flying pirates, but being stuck on land is really starting to get irritating.

How much patience do the little red ones take?

[There's good eating on one of those if you spice it well enough.]

Like most Pokémon, they evolve by getting into fights with other Pokémon.

Unlike most, they have no capacity whatsoever for fighting. All they can really do is tag along and try not to get eaten. It's a bit hit-or-miss.

[Spit-roasted, marinaded with Iapapa berries and and flavored with salt to taste, awww yes]

...I'm picturing one flopping about on the ground while the ones with legs do all the fighting. Is that accurate?

[Just about anything works long as you can't actually taste the Magikarp. Like crawfish.]

It's not much better if they're fighting in the water, to be honest.

Yeah, it really doesn't take a lot of effort to knock them out.

What are you looking for, out of curiosity? Anything specific?

Same thing I'm usually looking for. A partner I can ride around on at my leisure.

[Smirk.]

Specifically, a large aquatic Pokémon I can use to get around. It's not quite the same as getting a new ship, but it's a lot more comfortable than relying on that steamboat's schedule.

And suddenly your request for a decent rod makes so much more sense.

I see. I wish I could be more help, but I'm afraid my knowledge of water-types begins and ends with which marinades go best with which kind.

I'm sure I'll make due. Someone around here will have the rod I need.

I suspect you'll have more offers for rods than you know what to do with before too much longer.

I can guarantee you, I'll always know what to do with them.
