Elaine smiled, giving him one of those 'now really' sorts of looks. She knew what he was doing, and it was clever. She didn't know why he thought someone would try to use her face to lure him into an ambush, but if his reasons for paranoia matched hers, then he couldn't be blamed.
"Trubbish," she corrected gently. "He's a Trubbish."
She watched the motions of his face, stunned at what she saw reflected there. He didn't show a single sign of hatred or resentment...none of the things she feared he'd been carrying around with him all of these years.
A chuckle shook itself out of her throat as she ducked her head slightly. "And I tackled you when you first saw him because I was afraid you'd tell."
