The Elite Four existed before the Gods' punishment. They were a group of humans that, along with the help of their pokémon partners, were known as the strongest warriors of the known world. Obviously, we've changed a few things up since then, and our motivations are different, but we're still the strongest warriors of Ever Grande. Instead of wishing to enslave pokémon, we want to live and work alongside them, and atone for the mistakes that humans made in the past.
