“salty winter adult” jack frost. ([personal profile] nippy) wrote in [community profile] bravenewworld 2015-09-08 03:08 am (UTC)

[ seeing Danny panic makes Baby feel bad about having come to him, when he's so young and hardly exposed to things like this, but she had so little choice - Jack trusts only a small handful of people in Union with the worst aspects of his Homunculus nature, and of those few, Danny is the only one she knows would be able to understand her. even if she regrets putting him in this position, though, she has faith in Danny. he has a better chance of being to help Jack than any of them alone. ]

This way, he fell between the buildings— [ she darts back out his window and leads the way through the streets to the alleyway where she had left Jack. when they get there, she doesn't even need to say anything for it to be obvious where he is; the temperature in the whole block has dropped to an unseasonal chill, and there is frost creeping over the front walls of two adjacent buildings, jagged spikes and clumps of ice growing along the rain gutters. anyone that knew the slightest thing about Jack would know where to find him.

the boy himself is curled into a tight ball at the very back of the alleyway, shaking terribly and making high, wild sounds in his throat like a wounded animal. ice forms around him, either a coccoon or a cage, crawling steadily up his body, already halfway up his shins. huge spikes of ice sit in clumps along the ground and the walls, a great deal of them forming a protective ring around Jack's small, huddled form.

he doesn't look up when Danny and Baby reach the alleyway, barely aware of anything at all. ]
