Leaning over Waver's shoulder, a hand braced on him, Maeve listened closely. "Shut up for a second, he's trying to tell us something. He probably can't say anything right now without raising suspicions."
Dammit, it was hard to make out anything. This kid was seriously freaking out. She felt terrible; Union really had to look into their sending-teenagers-into-the-heart-of-danger problem that they had.
Then all at once, the feed got weird. There was some kind of explosion, and a booming voice; Maeve nearly bowled the tiny Sanctuary kid she was holding onto. "What happened?! What's going on?! Someone report!" She barked at the radio to the other side.
...This was bad, this was a bad idea, they were going to get these kids killed, every last one of them... For the first time, Maeve looked shaken, backing away from Waver and simply standing there. The spark in her eye was gone, left with something else altogether impossible to read. She looked paler than usual, waiting for something, anything, to come through the wire.
