I. OPEN TO ANYONE AFFILIATED WITH MEMBERS OF THE CITY GUARD; co-worker (+family) bonding time.

[Bertholdt has been a member of the City Guard for about a year now. His co-workers have tried time and time again to speak with him, get to know him, most attempts have all failed but some of them have that persistent personality (whether in a positively or negatively attitude) that makes those individuals guard materiel.

One guard in piratical that stood out from the others was Mr. Eren Jaeger. Much like Bertholdt, Eren had joined around a year ago, his experience branching just a tab longer than his own for Bertholdt stretched his schooling longer than some.. They had their differences, Bertholdt was one year older than Eren and much taller, their elements differ, but one thing that was similar -- they were both shifter. Eventually, Bertholdt was going to have to talk to him.. As well as any guardsmen on his team, perhaps even their family or friends.

Normally, Bertholdt would be long gone by the time anyone could speak with him after work but today he was running a little slow..]


II. OPEN TO ALL; backdated- pre earthquake.

[It's not often, but on Bertholdt's days off he'd venture to other places outside his home in the Pokemon Habitat. Running freely amongst other wild Pokemon in areas considered dangerous to normal people, that shifter was fine. The wild Pokemon knew he wasn't the same as them but they also knew he wasn't completely human. Some accepted him, some did not. However, there was rarely conflict.

Today Bertholdt is out venturing in his Pokemon form, a shiny Cyndaquil that for anyone would surely be an amazing bond.

Wherever you find him, whether during an adventure or on his way home to the Pokemon Habitat, you will meet him in his shifter form, as a shiny Cyndaquil. As a 'Quil Bertholdt is much more scruffy than your usual one, not to mention a whole foot longer.]

[Eren was 500% beat. Running around all day, helping people and Pokémon alike, bonding with a Scraggy that thought it was really damn funny to headbutt him. This earthquake was a nightmare. Before trying to head home, he just wanted to sit down and rest. Sit down and clean his swords.

Which is when he notices Bertholdt. He didn't know the guy well, despite being about the same age and joining the Guard at about the same time. Bertl was... a quiet guy. Reserved. Eren had made a few attempts to be friendly with him, but most of them ended up not working out too well. Still, they were on good enough terms. He offers a small wave before going back to cleaning his blades]

[Oddly enough Bertholdt had also been getting used to his new company, a female Scraggy just a little younger than Erens who was Bertholdt's main reason for being late to leave today.] Um.. Roxie, we need to leave.. No more fooling around.

[Looking over to the entrance of the building to see Eren, waving.. What to do? Of course.. he should wave back, no matter how little he'd like to, it was for the best. Bertholdt does his best to copy Eren's wave as his Scraggy yanks in his jacket for attention.]

[geez... what an awkward guy. Eren knew he was a shifter... maybe he was porn a Pokémon and didn't really know how to human]

Cute Scraggy... did you find it while the pokémon were evacuating the old city?

[ It's his day off, so Jean had just been minding his own business, going outside to gather berries for his Volbeat. Dude had a bit of a berry drinking problem, so he's really very, super excited about this particular trip.

Which is why when Jean spots this giant cyndaquil, Volbeat does nothing but . ]

[Just a short distance from the city, a very patient if a bit frazzled trainer is trying to teach one of his new friends some basic concepts. Such as "left" and "right", along with, "I love you too, but I don't think you fit under my shirt".]

[Oh, and "stop", but apparently that one still needs some work, when Dotty suddenly shoots off in an unexpected direction because he's found a new friend. Hopefully Bertholdt doesn't mind getting attack-hugged by a happily crooning Pidove.]

Ahhh, so sorry, he really just wants to show he loves you. [Not that Fai can actually make himself understood to pokémon, but he has a tendency to prattle on regardless. He watches anxiously, hoping that this strange and unfamiliar pokémon won't try to attack his friend.] Dotty, it's nice to ask before hugging.

[Levi is always outside of the walls, and more often than not in his Murkrow form to blend in with the other Pokemon. It's easy to tell when there's another shifter around, though, considering most of them had shiny coloring and a wild Pokemon having that was super rare... That, and Bertholdt was huge for a Cyndaquil. So he flutters down from his perch in front of the fire type, tilting his head left and right to try and see if he had a warp band before speaking.]

You better have permission to be outside the city.

[He gulps, picking her up then whether he appreciated it or not, the Pokemon struggling.] Y-yes.. she's young and without family it seems. Maybe after the earthquake.. I've been feeding her..

[That had been the reason for the Scraggy bonding with him, food, shelter..] ....Is that your Scraggy? [The taller boy pointing down to her while still holding Roxie against her will.]

one day I'll have cyndaquil icons.

[Bertholdt looks over to see a stranger, a human stranger at that.. It's time to run!! Voosh, vanish, goodbye Jean, Bertholdt doesn't even take the time to notice that this other man was one of his coworkers.

Running blindly in hopes to escape, if anything he could transform back but-]

[Bertholdt is smacked head on by the Pidove's massive welcoming hug, he's shy but doesn't mind, it's the human that makes everything feel uncomfortable.] Q-quil..

[No fire for you, he keeps the flames that come from a startled cyndaquil within making sure not to harm the bird.] Cynda.. [Greeting his attacker finally once the other creature let go.]

[The thing about Pokemon is that they have adapted so harshly to the language and tone humans do that Bertholdt almost doesn't realize the other was a shifter at first.]

E-excuse me?

[It strikes him however when he sees the color of the Murkrow and what the other was referring too.] No one has time to care about shifters when they are off duty, sir.

[He pecks his head a little, flapping his little wings.]

Only Rangers and a select few Guard members should be out without clearance. It's my job to make sure it stays that way, you little punk.

Probably. A lot of Pokémon were fleeing. None of them really know why, though, just that they're scared.

[Matilda is a petulant little scraggy. She refused to stay at the clinic, even while injured, so she's sitting behind Eren's scaly legs, bandaged up all over with a patch over one eye. She hisses and hides under the chair Eren is sitting in] Huh? Oh. Yeah. This is Matilda. She uh... doesn't really like me too much, but she said she can't let any debts stand. Whatever that means.

[The older scraggy hisses again, stomping her good foot]

"IT MEANS YOU SAVED M'DAMN LIFE, EVEN THOUGH I TOLDJA NOT TO! So now I owe you!! And I don't let anyone ever owe me!! DUMBASS BIRD!" [and she kicks his leg. To little effect]

[Dotty is of course overjoyed to have met such a nice, polite, warm new friend who hasn't tried to bite him even once. Fai relaxes once he realizes there's no danger, smiling. He sits down some distance away, not finding it entirely polite to loom over them and certainly not wanting to crowd the strange pokémon, but he does watch with rapt attention so he'll be able to remember every detail later.]

Doooooove-dove! Pi-doooooove! [With this Dotty attempts to convey that he and Wingless Human-Bird have been learning new and really exciting things, that he ate something that tasted bad, and that everything is nicer when it's not raining. Rather impressive for some modulated crooning.]

I've always wondered how you understand each other so well. It must be pretty amazing. Much cleverer than just understanding one type of creature. [Yep, still prattling. But it's mostly thinking aloud, to be honest.]

[ Volbeat nods. Though honestly, it's more interested in berries. Why should he care about some giant weirdo cyndaquil? ]

Don't give me that look, we're going after it!!!

[ Volbeat is really not impressed, but then, it's not like the berries are going anywhere. So off they go!! ]

It seems many of the Pokemon in the quake areas are separated from their own.. [Bertholdt also sits down in a chair across from Eren, his Scraggy he sits in his lap. Roxie just watches the Matilda, happy to be higher up, but Scraggy's seem to be in competition of abusing their owners.

A pause before she wails her head back into Bertholdt chest, UFH-] ....T-that means she's hungry. [Being the total pushover that he is Bertholdt packed the starving creature extra meals for today, looking through his bag for some. Roxie just ate her sack mockingly as if it was a sign of dormancy. "Nice control you have there, he's totally listening to you!!"]

I'm not sure if Roxie and I are friends yet either but she's welcome to stay with me till we find her gang.. I think that's what their line prefers to be called -- not flocks but gangs. [Sundrop isn't to fond of that idea but you must live and let live..]

[Bertholdt isn't one to fight back, he just takes the others abuse. Unlike most Cyndaquil, Bertholdt is not fast, he couldn't outrun his attacker even if he wanted too.]

I'm sorry, sir! I'll return to the station and get a permit..

[Bertholdt understands Dotty entirely, he doesn't mention his shifter taters or his human affiliation but he does mention where some humanly edible barriers are that would help with his stomach ache. The Pidove seems very fond of their partner.. not to mention the Pokemon is rather friendly, the Enlightened should be honored to have such a wonderful bound.]

Quil, quil. [He asks the Pidove if their partner is what other humans call "Enlightened." Bertholdt is curious to see the others within the Union that are similar skill wise. He assumes as much but there is reason to confirm these sort of things.]

Pidove! Piiiiiiiii~. [Dotty isn't really sure what that word means, but informs his new friend that Fai is clearly like him, except he's still a chick who hasn't grown his feathers and who can't fly, so he needs to be protected. Oh, and sometimes he tickles Dotty without using those wiggly things on his not-wings, and he once met an Espurr who could do that too. It's too bad he doesn't know how to talk properly, but nobody's perfect.]

[And now some emphatic marching back and forth and more crooning to indicate that they're a rather small flock, but since Dotty is the fearless leader, they are all safe. Does the warm thing have a flock too? Flocks are good, but so is being a brave and lonely hunter!]

[Nevermind the human giggling quietly in the background, he's very fond of his most eccentric pokémon's antics.]

[The Murkurow just rolls his eyes, fluttering a little angrily.]

I don't care, I just wanna know if you're in the Guard or not. You ain't a civvie are you?

Yeah, that's what they call their groups. "Gangs". Little hooligans.

[Matilda puffs up happily at that descriptor. Damn right she's a hooligan, and proud of it]

"They'll be fine widdout me until I repay this debt anyway."

[He runs himself into a dead end, Jean's Volbeat quick on his 'tail' (if he had one.) Trapped in a corner of a mountain and large brush as the Pokemon and partner came rushing in.


Bertholdt decides his charade is up, the other Pokemon is clearly a bug type, their types would clash and in the case of an unneeded battle Bertholdt would likely hurt the other Pokemon severely. These are not his intentions and though most humans know better than to battle other Pokemon without reason it's hard to say with how little the taller teen trusts those outside the watchful eyes of the union.

With a bright glow Berthodlt turns back into his human form once Jean and Volbeat are in range, watching first hand what it looked like to see a shifters transformation. Looking shyly up at his aggressors.. holding his hood around his face.] C-can I help you..?

[The other human.. he was from the guard and he was Enlightened.. Just perfect..]

[Keep your feathers intact, bird-boy.. This evil rule breaker isn't out doing anything malicious, at least today.]

[He can feel his body temperature rise with his anxiety levels.. talking with other humans, even shifters like himself, isn't easy for Bertholdt. Sweating, lifting the collar of his uniform he was still dressed in.]

...You're a shifter too, aren't you?

[His question doesn't come without a long pause. Roxie notices his body heat but doesn't mind, still sitting in his lap.]

[Bertholdts almost certain the human is Enlightened. He must have a permit to be outside the city looking for more Pokemon to bound with most likely. He thinks about reviling his shifter form for a moment before his Magby returns from her barry hunt.] Magby?

[She's shocked to find Bertholdt with others, wary of the human but if her partner is at ease she feels comfortable being so as well. That lax nature coming in handy sometimes.. waving sweetly.

Bertholdt helps her separate the barry types, showing obvious signs of human-like intelligence for Cyndaquil are normally not this talented with their hands, picking up everything no problem and knowing just want each Pokemon would like. He offers Dotty ones most suitable for flying types.] Quil!

[While not exactly possessed of a permit as such, it is true that Fai is eager to make friends with a lot of pokémon. That being said... well firstly, this is Dotty making a new friend, it would be incredibly rude to just butt in. And secondly, what he's interested in more than anything is observing]

Ah, that's amazing. Is that another breed of Cyndaquill that has achieved a higher dexterity, maybe? Or... I guess they could be a Shifter, but most Shifters would've revealed themselves by now, huh? Oh, maybe they've gotten uncommonly old without evolving, and gotten better with time, learning to work with a Magby. Or maybe there's some completely different reason...

[Prattle prattle prattle. Meanwhile, Dotty isn't that interested in the hatchling making noises because look, a new friend, also BERRIES! Both the Cyndaquill and the Magby are clearly gentlepokémon and scholars, and he doesn't hesitate in telling them so. Dotty, don't speak with you mouth full, that's rude.]
