[Natalia nods excitedly.] The festival is to pay respects to those who've passed on--the name comes from a ceremony that happens at the start of the festival that symbolizes the joining of the world of the living and the world of the spirits. Masks are involved, too... I don't quite remember what it started out as, but these days, the masks are of Ghost and Dark-types to ward off the mischief of ghosts and spirits.
People used to leave offerings for spirits--sweet things, mostly! Sometimes children go around neighborhoods during the last night of the holiday and get treats from the people in the houses.
