[Arachne hasn't learned all the ways around Union yet, but for the most part, she's purposely stuck to using the streets and alleyways that don't often get attention. Sometimes the rooftops are better, but with the height and distance of some of those towers... sometimes it's better to play it safe.
... Unfortunately that doesn't keep her from being pestered by a particularly insidious Spearow, which followed her down from one of her tower descents and hasn't left her alone since. At first she did her best to ignore him, but finally she rounds on him.]
I don't have anything for you, so leave me alone already! You're all rude little scavengers, aren't you?
[When a stalker is being stalked... it's a rough life. It's also quite an alleyway conversation.]

[There's something relaxing about browsing the merchants stalls in the city. For one thing, it was ample opportunity to get an idea of Union lives, and Arachne needed to find something distracting to get her nerves back in order after issues with birds and sneaky little children.
... Of course, she didn't want to seem too interested in what she was buying either. Some of the stall-keepers had been downright nosy. The sooner she could shut them up with her disinterest, the better. Even so, she sometimes would linger by the nail polish or the hats. It was almost too wide a selection. She had to be careful about this. And some of those price tags...]

[ Oh, no. It happened again. Wormmon had left the house with Ken-chan and Ken-chan had started walking fast enough that he can't keep up. Again. So now he is lost in an unfamiliar city with no Ken-chan in sight, again.
He keeps wiggling through the crowd as best he can, but in trying to dodge a gaggle of excited children, he ends up bumping right into somebuggy else's calves! Oof! ] Pede!
[ Ken-chaaaaan. Come save hiiiiim. ]
no subject
A pokemon, of course, and a venepede at that. They were common enough, but still a nuisance. She gives him a small shove with her foot.]
What are you -- watch where you're going.
no subject
[ Wormmon was already holding onto his head where he'd bumped it, but when he's scolded, he turns away too, as if he can shield himself from this human's harsh words. He's sorry. He know he messed up. Where's Ken-chan...?
The bug looks just about ready to curl completely up in a little ball of misery, frankly. ]
no subject
[The scolding will continue until morale improves. Although... hrm. There's something familiar about this particular venepede's behavior.] What are you doing here anyway? You're just going to get stepped on and cause problems.

[She tosses her hair, suddenly far more interested in the display of compact mirrors.] You're not going to get anywhere by looking so wretched.
no subject
Last time he found Ken-chan by looking from somewhere high up. So he begins trying to climb the display in the hopes of obtaining a better vantage point. Excuse him... ]
no subject
[Luckily, it's a sturdy enough display considering what it's housing, and she was already agitated that the little venepede was taking up more of her time than it even deserved. Sitting there and looking wretched was one thing, but encroaching on her space...]
no subject
Hm. This is not high enough. He looks around to see whether anything here is taller.
Well, there's this human....that seems rude, though. Hmm.
Wormmon still eyes her, deep in thought. ]

Wormmon scrunches up his eyes and leaps. For her head. He's sorry!!! But it's for Ken-chan!!! ] Peeeede!
no subject
...
. . .
For a moment she just stands there, breathing heavily and twitching, at the audacity of it all. If they were in the forest, that bug would be sailing twenty feet away by now, but no, they had to be somewhere populated by soft-hearted humans. She reaches up to grab at him instead.]
You attention seeking little -- get off of me! What do you even want?
no subject
no subject
It's really too pathetic for that.
So calming down with a sigh, and still holding him out to keep him from trying to climb up again, she finally takes note of what he's doing, since he's not offering much otherwise. Hrm...]
So you're lost and looking for someone who doesn't seem to be making a particular effort to find you.
[Idiotic thing. She should give him a shake for what he put her through.]

no subject
[Ugh, why was she still talking to it? She scans around for an empty shelf to stick him on.]
no subject
After a little bit of leg-wringing, he makes up his mind and fixes her with pleading eyes. Please help him. Please? He just wants to find Ken-chan! ] Veni veni!
no subject
Just how desperate are you to get back to your partner? I wonder. I could throw you out into the forest for your impudence.
[Could a wretched creature like that even be useful? Probably not, but it was a... thought, anyway. She drawls on, still in that disinterested tone.] So, is there any use to me in helping you at all?
no subject
Wormmon thinks so hard it's possible to imagine clouds of steam rising from his head. And then he waves his legs around. It's, uh! Ken-chan is very smart! And he...well, he probably won't even thank this woman....but he's sure that people who do good deeds have good things happen to them!
...or, not. He's not actually even sure of that. He's asking for the impossible, isn't he. This makes him sad. ] ....Pede.
no subject
But in that frantic venepede's little attempt, he had let slip something that was interesting. Very, very interesting. And if it were true, it was no wonder that he was out here uselessly on his own.
She certainly didn't want to run into that boy so soon, though he wouldn't be difficult to track down. But, her own hard thinking aside, she shakes her head slightly and ... smiles at the pathetic pokemon instead.]
You're never going to win anyone's respect by looking like that. Certainly not mine.
[But there's a certain lilt to her tone. She just might be helping him anyway. Or leading him on to disappointment. It's just airy and mysterious enough to hopefully keep him wondering.]
no subject
....things may not be going as planned, unless this "human" had planned on seeing a Venipede looking sorrier for itself than anybuggy has ever looked before. ]
no subject
That's just your problem, isn't it.
[Sigh. She's still thinking though, trying to figure out the best way to get this creature indebted to her. She would make an advantage work, if she could, as much of an inconvenience it was. Ken's habits...]
Stop looking like that before I shake you. Your boy probably went home without you. You'll be safer waiting there than getting stepped on here.
no subject
He waddles towards the edge of the display, as if ready to make good on this advice, then pauses. And looks back at the woman pleadingly.
He doesn't know how to get back home!!! ] Veni peeeede!!!
no subject
She was cautious with her knowledge, and this creature needed to know it's place.]
... Hmmph. The residential district, isn't it? [A pause, as she half-glances back.] You're just going to have to wait.
no subject
....hold on. What for what?
Are you going to help him??????? ]
