[Video]

Hey. Union.

[The feed opened up to the sight of a little Shroomish staring into the lens. The little mushroom was sitting on a rock in the park, gazing curiosly at whomever it was who was operating camera. Without further greeting-- or explanation-- Cliff continued:]

I've got a Shroomish here that I'm lookin' to give to a good home. Only a good home. She's plenty tame, friendly, and-- hey!

[The feed tilted skyward as the Shroomish, pouting now, made a leap for the narrator with an excited shroo! The angle shifted, revealing Cliff sprawled out on the ground trying to hold the squeeing pokemon at bay with his arms-- and failing. Any Kindred Soul's in the area would understand her squeeing as stubborn refusal to cooperate, because Mister Scary is the coolest person to ever enter the Verdant Forest evar, and he's just gotta be little Shroomie Lucy's Special Someone!

She'll never leave you, Mister! She won't!]

[Then there was some chuckling on her end]

I don't think tame would be the answer? I think a more appropriate word would be hyper?

Fuuka?!

[Crap, crap, crap! Little Lucy was going in for hugs with another squeaky shroo.]

Gah-- get off, would ya? We talked about this!

['Talk' being 'Rio held her while he issued a couple of orders that were forgotten within seconds.]

She-- I dunno where she even came from. She just followed me in!

But I think she likes you, perhaps it would be better if you kept her instead!

[Meanwhile, here Fuuka was, giggling away at how adorable this all was!]

She seems really attracted to you.

[Just. A look.]

...I hope not, missie. You've got no idea how awkward that'll be 'round the holidays.

But at least it will be fun and it won't ever get boring right?

[The little Shroomish just giggled in her 'shroomie way, and Cliff made a solid effort to bite his tongue and keep his mouth closed.]

All right. Suppose I keep her. I still don't really know how this warp band thing works besides as a way to talk to folks. Rio kinda just hangs around the apartment with me.

Then maybe you can have um...Rio use it and talk to others?

Although, I must admit, I'm not quite sure what else the wrap band does. Perhaps there would be more we could do with it?

That...ain't gonna be so easy.

[He rubbed the back of his neck as he thought, casting a glance at something that was clearly off camera.]

--Rio, say 'hi' to Fuuka.

[Off screen could be heard a gruff Lucha, which only earned a frustrated groan from the big man.]

C'mon, don't be shy--!

[A sigh.]

She's a Hawlucha, and doesn't know this tech any better than either of us do.

Then I suppose I'll have to figure something out! But I don't think it would be too difficult! If humans can use it, I think I can make one easily for Pokemon to use!

[She giggled as she gave a light wave to his pokemon wether she liked it or not!]

I guess Rio doesn't like other people, does she?

Well, ya see, she and the Shroomish both are pretty territorial...and, unfortunately, their territory just so happens to include me.

[He sighed.]

I'm just glad they get along. There's nothing worse than having two ladies fight over you!

It seems like you are quite popular, Cliff! I think your other Pokemon might have to watch out as well! Or any other women who might show some interest in you!

I guess this is what you call living the dream?

There's a few too many feathers in this mess to be a dream. We're just lucky that it's the three of us for right now-- I don't even wanna imagine what could happen if we added more pokemon to our team if we're like this!

At least it's never quiet and it's always lively?

[Chuckle] I'm sorry, I only wish for you to see the bright side to this! I don’t think that many Pokemon are attracted to humans like this!

Hah. Maybe your right.

[The little chirp on the Shroomish's part was more than enough to indicate that she agreed.]

Now. The tricky thing's gonna be figuring out how this warp band thing is actually supposed to work. I know that the video stuff is just a nice add-on, but the rest? I don't get it.

[Hmmm...ponder ponder ponder...]

Well, I read somewhere that it's suppose to be a way to bond with your pokemon and it allows you to communicate with them! Although, I'm not sure exactly how myself...

Eh, don't worry 'bout it. We'll figure it out. Somehow.

[His grin was one of complete confidence despite his words-- as if he actually didn't care about whether he succeeded or not.]

[With that, Fuuka couldn't help but chuckle at him]

Goodness, then it sounds like you probably might not need it after all! I think you'll be able to talk with your Pokemon with ease compare to everyone else!

Let's not go so fast there-- the Calderan ways involve a lot of chances and a good bit of luck. It's not as....let's just say 'clean' as it is here in Union.

[Blink blink]

What do you mean? ...If you don't mind me asking?

[Pamela looks very amused.]

She seems very attached to you. I think it might be cruel to separate the two of you.

You're crazy, lady!

[Cliff cast her a dumbfound look, barely catching the Shroomish against the palm of his hand as she dove for his face.]

Mushrooms and me don't get along. It's always been like that. Never could stand it when Mom slipped 'em in her chiled veggie stir fry!

Have you actually tried to get along with her? Because she seems to be very fond of you.

[Sorry, Cliff. Pamela thinks this is hilarious.]

What, with these Warp Band things???

[Clearly, no. He's Calderan; this tech is still very weird for him.]

Yes, using the Warp Band. And otherwise just accepting her company. Working with her rather than pushing her away.

I know how to work with pokemon! I'm just not used to 'em being so-- [the little Shroomish, lit by an idea, rolled off his hand and landed face first on Cliff's face.]

--Clingy.

[Groaning in frustration, Cliff picked the little pokemon up with a hand and rolled into a sitting position.]

Fine, little girl. You win. Now what do we do?

[Pamela can't quite stifle her chuckles]

Just be glad she's not as possessive as Crocus was when he was still a baby Gastly.

[Lady, you keep earning that Dumbass Look from Cliff.]

Gods, a possessive Gastly? [He shook his hsead, not wanting to believe what he was hearing.] Sca-ree.

[It's a gift.]

Luckily, my Enlightened abilities include immunity to poison, because he used to like to surround me with his gaseous form to drive other people away from me.

[He still does even as a Haunter now and then, but he's getting better.]

That is lucky!

[And terribly unlucky for anyone she wanted to interact with.]

There's not a.....pokemon manners training school 'round here, is there? [He pointed at the Shroomish who had no settled comfortably on his head an was busy digging her feet into his hair.] This little one here's gonna wreck my badass image at this rate.

Not that I'm aware of. Sometimes people will trade their Pokemon with others for a short time to see if they benefit from working with another Trainer.

[She's diplomatic enough not to mention that Cliff's badass image has already been ruined since the start of this conversation.]

[The little Shroomish wildly shook her head with an emphatic squeak. Cliff just looked up at hear, uneasy.]

...I don't think she liked that idea.

How many other Pokemon do you have? Sometimes being around other Pokemon who are part of their team helps to mellow some out.

[Or so she's found, anyway]

Just one other right now-- a Hawlucha.

[He shrugged, ready to give up.]

You sure this is gonna work?

It depends on individual Pokemon personalities. Some of my Pokemon get along with just about everyone, and some of them have more difficult personalities.

[She thinks on that for a moment.]

You could always try arranging a play-date for her with other trainers' Pokemon? Let her make some friends.

[Cliff eyed the video feed thoughtfully, considering the words.]

Hm. That might be a pretty good idea. It's been a while since I had to build a team from the ground up.

If she sees that she can have fun around others and looks forward to being around other Pokemon, that will probably help you as you're building your team as well.

[Because otherwise that clingy behaviour could be a real problem if it's not nipped in the bud.]

Forget building a team-- talking like this makes me feel like I've suddenly become a parent or something.

[He chuckled at his own dumb joke, although he saw the point that the girl was making. Letting the Shroomish stick around and come into her own might be a good idea. And, having a little mushroom hanging out on his head every waking hour of the day was liable to become awkward after a while.

....well, more awkward than it already was.]

Being a Trainer can be a little like that, too.

[If nothing else, Pamela thinks it's good preparation. Granted, Pokemon start off far less helpless than human babies...]

I dunno, man. It looks like she's pretty taken with you, hehehe.

'Taken' is putting it lightly.

[The insistent squeeing and flailing legs of the little shroomish was proof enough of that. This was a bona fide case of fangirling here.]
