8th Prayer: The Big Kahuna
Action/Video at the Beach:
[Okay, this is just so adorable that even a dour, serious young woman like Rei can't help but share it with the rest of Union. The Warp Band starts up, showing a scene on the shoreline. In the distance is an enormous, slow-rolling spring storm heading inland. It's still many miles off, but the effects of it are already beginning to show. Massive swells, enormous waves generated in the distance by the storm, are breaking against the shore at regular intervals. Each wave is larger than the last, and they're predictable in their formation (as predictable as they can be, anyway).
Basically? It's a surfer's paradise.]
Well good afternoon everyone. It's been a while since I made a public broadcast, but I've never seen anything quite like this before. I thought it was worth sharing and recording for later.
[The camera zooms in on something out in the water, a small group of Pokemon on, you guessed it, surfboards. A Gardevoir, Treecko, and Riolu all seem to be in the shallows, paddling around and trying to get a feel for things...but the camera moves up and focuses on something else.
A Pikachu.
A Pikachu in little swim trunks, shredding away down the long trough of one of the larger waves, laughing wildly as the wind blows his ears back. He makes it through the entire trough before swerving back and coasting back in towards the other Pokemon.]
Ariel's been at this all afternoon, and he's been trying to teach the other three how to surf too. I had to do a little reading on the sport, but apparently he's pretty good. Has anyone else ever seen something like this?
Action that evening, Lake Shrine/Union:
[After the storm finally does hit the beach, Rei heads home, but decides to stop up at the Lake Shrine for dinner and a rest. She's built a small fire, but while she sets about cooking up some stuff, Ariel seems to have casually enlisted the other Pokemon in gathering up large wooden sticks and jabbing them in the ground in a wide circle. A few minutes later, he's lit all the ends of these poles up like torches and hops into the center of the ring to begin some sort of strange dance. Rei stops, watching the strange behavior before realizing that it's some sort of ritual.
She...doesn't really know what it's for, but after a minute or two she and the other Pokemon with her start to attempt to follow Ariel's steps, admittedly somewhat clumsily. Rei's never been much of a dancer, leaving that aspect of shrinework to her grandfather, but the Pokemon seems pleased that she's joining in. Never-mind that she'd never, ever let herself be caught doing this if she knew other people might be watching...
So, feel free to watch and wander up!]

[ And after a few moments. ]
His name's Ariel? He's so cute!
[Which...is weird.]
And that's what he told me his name was when I rescued him, yes.
[ Usagi's just a little jealous, but hey, she's not too upset. Her pokemon are just as special in her eyes. ]
What did you rescue him from?
[Rei laughs lightly, waving a hand.]
I rescued him from something he calls...Sycorax? I didn't get a good look at it before my Pokemon drove it away. But it was some sort of ghost, I think? Ariel says it was trying to eat him.
[ Usagi tries to think about that name, but, after a few seconds of thinking, comes up with nothing. ]
Whatever! Everyone's okay and that's all that matters! That Sycorax had better think twice before trying to hurt anyone again!
[She shifts, rolling onto her stomach to watch the Pikachu at the same time.]
Have you ever had a Pokemon just...tell you it's name?
[ Usagi hums thoughtfully to herself, glancing over to Luna before scratching the Meowstic behind the ears. ]
Nope. No one's ever given me their name before. They all seem to like the name that I end up giving them.
It was odd, but when I look at him, I feel a connection. Not...like the ones from our other life though, something different. Like a thread.
Talking about the other life just reminded her of her new foray into past during the last event, but she just shakes her head and gives Rei a smile. ]
A thread? Isn't there a saying that involves threads and tying people and things together?
There is. It's what drew me to you, and everyone else, after all.
[ Usagi just hums gently, letting her thoughts wander for a moment. ]
I mean, we're all connected.. so it had to be something special, right?
[Rei taps her chin in thought.]
It's...not something the dreams have ever shown me. And it's never quite seemed so important, until we actually went there. Maybe we were all princesses, or something? Every dream I've had has given me some sort of leadership feeling.
[ That'd be a wistful sigh coming from her. ]
Can you imagine? Me? A princess? Wearing all those pretty dresses all the time and getting to eat all the food I want? That'd be the life...
[ Usagi reaches up and taps her forehead where that little sigil should have been. ]
I mean, you and Ami-chan already look so much like how you did in the dreams. Not that I'm jealous or upset at you guys! It's just.... [ Sigh. It looks like it's been bothering her for awhile. ] ... am I doing somethihg wrong? I haven't evolved at all.
Usagi-chan, I really don't think you're doing something wrong.
[She taps her own forehead, and that strange sigil appears on her own head, an arrow piercing a heart.]
I...think evolving may change your appearance. And, would you...like to join me? Deimos can come get you, and teleport you to me. I've got some extra snacks, and I think we should talk.
Well, you know I can't resist a good snack! Are you sure though it's no trouble? I don't mind walking to your place, you know.
Usagi-chan, I'm at the beach.
[And as that settles it, the Gardevoir vanishes and then appears a few feet from Usagi]
Are you ready, Usagi?
[ Usagi squeaks in surprise as Deimos just appears in her bedroom. She gives the Gardevoir a bright smile and waves in greeting. ]
Let me get changed and we can get going! [ She turns to Rei's feed. ] I'll be right there, Rei-chan!
[ Time to zip into some beach appropriate clothes, as well as gather up all her pokemon that'd really enjoy a day out at the beach! Which doesn't really take that long to hop into outdoor shorts and a shirt. ] Okay! Ready!
Alright, then let's go.
[Reaching out, the Gardevoir warps them back to the beach, and Rei's little camp. She's already set up a second towel, and her Pokemon are still surfing or playing around an enormous mound of sand. Phobos may or may not be cackling...]
[video ----> action]
When they finally get there, Usagi just takes a deep breath of the sea breeze and lets the warmth just sort of seep into her body before she taps her warp band and let's out Lucky, Blossom and Aqua to go have some fun in the sun. ]
Thanks, Deimos. [ She bows her head politely to the Gardevoir before strolling to the second towel that's set up. ] Rei-chan! I'm here!

So I see. Have a seat. I'll get drinks.

When she's satisfied, which really doesn't take that long, Usagi will do exactly as she's told and take a seat in the offered place. ] Okay~!

Here you are. It's fruit tea.
[Settling back down, she lays out on the towel and looks over to her closest friend.]
What is it that makes you think you're doing something wrong? Evolution comes at a lot of different paces.

[ The drink is happily accepted and Usagi takes a nice long swig of it. But, when she's done with the first sip, her demeanor turns more somber. ]
I mean... I've gone out and done things. Travelled to lots of places, and done lots of things... [ Usagi turns her hand over and she just stares at it. ] Outside of when you guys had to save me from the Driffloon, nothing's happened.
