bravenewworld | 3rd Dia: Dulcinea [Video/Action]

Action on the Tropical Island.

[If you happen to be wandering around the island today, especially walking along the beach, you might be a little bit surprised to find yourself passing through an area that looks a little bit like it'd been hit by several meteors...or a series of miniature volcanic eruptions. There are large patches of sand that have a glassy sheen to them, or deep divots and furrows all around. The surf is just beginning to wash away some of it, but there was definitely something going on.

If you keep going, you'll actually find a teenage girl laying under an umbrella a little further on down the beach, the entire area blanketed in harsh sunlight. She looks a little beat, scuffed and bruised up, and laying down beside her is a Noivern that looks similarly exhausted. It's chest rises and falls and it's eyes are closed in sleep, tail curling around the umbrella protectively, while several other scamper around, playing in the surf. A Cherubi, a collection of golden Exeggcute, and a Cubchoo seem to be playing some sort of game, tossing a rock at a Venusaur. Every time the rock gets close, it's smacked away by a vine, almost effortlessly at that. It seems like they're trying to get those rocks into a small crater behind the big plant-toad, and...failing.

Either way, Yukiko doesn't seem to be completely aware of her surroundings, or of anyone approaching. This is probably good, given that she's trying out a Calderan swimsuit for the first time and she wouldn't be caught dead wearing one of those around other people.

[The video feed opens up to show a sunny beach, little paws covering part of the lens for a moment as Teddie accidentally slips up getting it off his trainer's wrist. He and Bereth have a surprise for her, after all.

Setting it down in the sand, he scampers a little ways off and whistles, waving a snotty paw to get Bereth on screen. The Noivern complies, stretching and standing upright, tapping his chest with a claw like a singer might before they start belting out a song.

And then...the horror begins. The audio feed is filled with a horrific shriek, though it seems to have an actual melody to it. The little Cubchoo appears to be attempting to sing along, but the noise is just so great that he's completely drowned out.

In fact, the only other thing audible over the explosive burst of sound is a feminine cry of surprise, dismay, and rage.]

OH MY GODS WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! WHY ARE YOU...STOOOOOP!!!

[Yukiko appears on the video now, leading with a flying tackle to the big dragon. The noise abates so your speakers are no longer about to explode...]

AND YOU TURNED ON THE WARP BAND TOO?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU TWO?!

[Someone hasn't quite gotten their hearing back completely...but the band is snatched up and she looks apologetic...]

SORRY EVERYONE! SOMEONE'S GOING TO BE SLEEPING IN THE HABITAT FOR A WHILE...

[Mitsuru is rather confused as to what's just happened, but her friend clearly needs some sort of help.]

Yukiko, what are Teddie and Bereth doing? Were they singing?

YES, UNFORTUNATELY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT...BUT IT WAS A SONG I THINK...

[She blinks but doesn't bring attention to the fact that Yukiko is practically screaming at her.]

I'm afraid that I don't know what song it could have been either. Do you need me to come over to help with them?

[Her voice will normalize in a few.]

I'm all the way down on the tropical island...so unless you're here...

[Well, that's a relief.]

No, I'm still in Union right now, so I don't think I'll be much help. If there's anything I can do, you'll let me know, yes?

Perhaps have the morgue prepared to receive Teddie. He may not survive the return trip.

[She may be joking. Hopefully.]

Yukiko. [Mitsuru knows her friend moderately well. And though Teddie might be a troublemaker, he means no harm.] I can take him for a few days when you return instead. There's no reason to threaten him.

You know I'm joking, right?

[But she's still glaring at Teddie. Who is cowering. Save him Mitzy-chan!

And she still hasn't noticed that she's broadcasting in that rather...um...skimpy swimsuit.]

I was hoping that that was the case. However, your "joking" tone is very deadpan when you're irked.

[And that's when she catches it.]

Where did you get that bikini, Yukiko? I've never seen that before.

C-Caldera...

W-wait...you can see this?

She dives to one side, off camera.]

TEDDIEEEEEEEE WHYYYYYY!!!!!

Caldera? I didn't know they were leading in the fashion department.

[Which surprises no one since Mitsuru still has a stylist to pick out her clothes.]

I think it's rather cute. Why are you trying to hide?

Yeah. I got one when I was there during the Enhanced incidents. It's...just to try it out.

[And then she turns a little whiny...her voice lowering.]

And I think so too, but this is a public broadcast...

[Mitsuru smiles at her friend's reaction.]

Well, I think it suits you, but if you're worried about how others will think of you while you're wearing it, perhaps you should turn off your Warp Band for a now.

[A sigh...]

I'd mostly just wanted to try it out. Alone. It's comfortable. But...I don't think I'm quite ready for Union to see that.

Well, that makes some sense. It's not as if bathing suits and bikinis are the norm in Union. However, now I know where to go to get my own when the time comes.

Yes, I'm talking about you. If you prank your Trainer, you deserve whatever punishment she decides is best.

[Imagine Teddie covering his face and hiding, because that's what he's doing.]

For now I think it will just be staying in the habitat.

[Yes, good, because whatever Yukiko could think up is probably a million times nicer than Mitsuru's idea of proper punishment.]

You are too easy on him.

Don't worry, I've got other things that'll happen later. Because you know he'll step out of line.

That's why it's best to strike hard the first time. It discourages a repeat performance.

I'll take it under advisement then.

[She is...not...so harsh.]

That aside, I hope that you continue to enjoy your visit to the coast and that Teddie learns to behave himself.

[She's not mean all the time, but she is harsh and exacting.]
