You of Union have a different way of aligning with Pokemon, I've heard. It has to do with these Warp Bands. I would appreciate hearing more about this. This is my first time using one.

[Action:]

[Union is totally unlike Caldera. It's so green and spread out, and those towers... and the people! Kuvira mostly keeps her composure, though her eyes are wide as she fights not to stare and takes herself on a tour of the less seedy areas. Her Ralts, not bothered by the desire to look professional, skips around at her feet and gapes openly at everything.]

You shoot the beam at 'em, and you're able to sync up on your hearts. Hears thoughts, and you get on hearing too. If you get along, they can line up with it and bond. That's the basics, anyway.

That's some fairly advanced technology. Does it work on any Pokemon?

Any I've encountered so far. [ Not gods but... gods are gods ] Some's thoughts are harder to work with.

Don't their... thoughts work both ways? Especially Psychic types?

It sounds like it could be dangerous.

Yeah, both ways - you're matching spirits, so the idea's that what's there can align. Only as deep as they and you wanna be though.

[ Dangerous...? ] But yeah, both ways.

And it doesn't work on humans? Or shifters? It sounds like it would be a very easy way to make new friends. [Or amass minions.]

[What's that noise? That click of a camera shutter, apparently! Kuvira might recognize the wiry nerd taking pictures of a few stray pokemon that are perched up on the ledge of a tower. He seems to have half climbed up there himself to get the shot.]

[Hm, his voice is awfully familiar.]

[Kuvira's Ralts Anik skips ahead, stopping before it can get too far away. Kuvira's stopped, and shading her eyes with her hand.]

[!! He starts, missing the shot and the pair of bird pokemon fly away. OOPS.]

[He peers over his shoulder, holding onto the ledge rather precariously with one hand and his camera in the other.]

[She stares at him, and there is one of her uncommon smiles as she stands more hipshot, suddenly looking a lot closer to her actual age.]

I should have known. You're too energetic to die.

[It's a moment or two of them both staring at each other. Boy, Union sure did like to collect Calderans. ]

[At her words, he has the grace to look apologetic before he lets go of the ledge and lands onto the street on his feet. Then he's back to shooting her a more familiar grin.]

Gigas tried. They had a rude awakening.

[But there are other things to talk about here.]

You're in Union. [And you know, not back home. That is certainly something worth mentioning.]

[Her Ralts - child of the Gardevoir that came with her to Caldera in the first place - scurries and hides behind her, shy.]

So are you! I'm surprised, you I never expected to see here.

[A (possibly familiar) young woman appears on the video feed, smiling pleasantly. Her accent is Calderan, though she's...very covered up. It's really rather cold this far from the mountain.]

Yeah! It's pretty ingenious isn't it? So much in such a small package.

[Lucca rubs the back of her head.]

Hah, didn't know if you'd remember me, Kuvira. I only got here yesterday.

How could I forget? [Suyin had sighed about the eccentricities of inventors.] That's before I came. Are you adjusting well?

Fair point. [She is a little unconventional, she will admit. Never eccentric, though.] And I believe so, yes. It’s colder here, but I’ll adjust. [but will she ever wear more than bike shorts? Probably not.]

[Union is totally unlike Caldera, but even here one may run into a familiar face or two. Thorin Oakenshield, formerly Major General, doesn't quite strike as impressive a figure out of uniform, but it's unmistakably him. A Honedge floats by his side as he walks on by, and he might even entirely miss Kuvira if she doesn't say anything.]

[She sees the Honedge first, and honestly her first thought is wanting one. Steel-types are just appealing! She misses her Riolu - never really hers, she supposes, it stayed willingly with Suyin. Still.

Anyway. She looks past it at the big man and has to stop.]

[darer]

[He reacts before he can catch himself. There is, after all, no military in Union, and he's been called by his rank for too long not to respond to it, even if that wasn't exactly his rank. Spotting Kuvira a moment later, he crosses the street toward her in long strides.]

Lieutenant. I had not expected to see you here.

[betterthanwu]

[Kuvira's helmet is off and her braid is unbound, making her look decidedly younger.]

I have the advantage, then. I was going to see about a letter. This is lucky. You've been well?

[darer]

I have. It's not home, but a good place nonetheless. Peaceful.

[And Thorin certainly needed a bit of peace. He's never noticed before just how young she is. Seeing her now, she can't be much older than Kíli.]

What brings you to Union?

[Now Kuvira visibly hesitates. She likes the Major General, but unloading her troubles with Suyin doesn't seem professional.] I wanted to see more of the world, sir. After all I was born outside of Caldera, and the Unionites are something new. [Which is true.]

[She'd had a Riolu and a Makuhita, and an elderly Gardevoir had brought her to the city in the first place. Now there's just a Ralts gleefully trying to pounce on Honedge's shadow.]
