First Dango: Arrival at Union. [Video/Action]

[The video feed that comes through this fine afternoon is clearly another newbie, if the dialogue and positioning are any indication. It’s actually upside down, and the person looking at it is scowling just a bit.]

Geez, does this thing even work? Stupid…blinking. Quit it!

[It clicks off, and then back on rightside up as the woman frowns at it.]

There. Good. [Clearing her throat, the woman puts on an obviously forced smile.] Yo. Not sure who all can see this, but hey.

[Hooking a thumb at herself, Anko’s tone shifts to a brash, almost cocky tone.]

I’m Anko, from up north in Citadel. Came down here to check out what’s going on in Union, and to do a little research. If there’s anyone with experience around the mountains, particularly with mapping, let me know. I’m looking for someone, and that’s the last place I saw her.

[The video shuts off without further information. She doesn’t really expect anyone to help, but who knows with Unionites. They didn’t have to come fight that monster, either.]

Action

[And around Union, Anko’s not hard to find. She’s trotting through the streets wearing a heavy coat despite the heat, occasionally poking her head into a sweets shop and emerging with a dango or some other snack in hand. She does this at literally every shop between the gate and the library, taste-testing to find the best.

Now, when she reaches the library, she isn’t exactly the quietest person there. In fact, she’s actually pretty damn noisy, since she’s hardly trying to walk quietly. She’s there for several hours going through books and maps and journals, huffing noisily each time she finishes, seemingly unsatisfied. Who’d have thought research was hard. Ugh…]

Do you have a physical description of the person you're looking for?

[Pamela makes a note of that.]

Well, if she's unusual looking and six feet long, at least that should make her stand out...

[She can't think of any plants in the mountain range that a Pokemon like that could blend in with.]

[Pamela looks over the picture and there is something familiar about it...]

Not exactly like her, but one that had similar colouring and was vaguely shaped like her, only with a broader upper body before the head and no rattle. Perhaps they're part of the same evolutionary line.

[Although that particular Pokemon was bonded to Valeria from Gigas.]

What's her name?

Ah, I see. I haven't explored the mountains in depth, although I did visit the Ice Rock within them once and bonded with my Glaceon there. I've been meaning to do some research there, if you'd like a traveling companion?

I'm Pamela Isley. Visiting the library is a good idea, although I don't believe any of the Pokemon documented as living in the mountains have matched her description. Of course, it's not as if people are there constantly. If she was shy and stayed out of sight, they might not have found her there...

The library is usually fairly regularly updated with people's discoveries in various regions, along with maps and other notes. Just tell the librarian that you want maps and other information about the mountain range, and you should be in good hands.

The main thing would be to be quiet while in the library and not bring food into the library. Noise can be distracting when you're trying to focus hard on research, and no one wants to find food stains on reading materials.

[She had that happen once, and was less than pleased at finding a few of the pages stained with berry juice.]

I recommend venturing around the Verdant Forest, and if you're looking to bond with any Grass type Pokemon, there's no better place to look than the Moss Rock. Our agricultural center is worth looking at, too.

[She's a bit focused on plantlife, although at least she admits it.]

Of course, it depends on what you're interested in. I may be biased in my recommendations.

[Which brings her to things about Union culture.]

As for what you should know about Union culture...we're a society that values life above all. Although we will eat meat now and then, we strive not to be wasteful with it. We're also a people who value knowledge, discovery, and progress.

No. I'm a researcher and a noble.

[Note the order in which she ranks those two titles.]

I've got somewhat of a green thumb, though.

[And with that, almost idly, she puts a seed in a pot, and uses her powers to make the plant grow. It takes about one minute to make it go from seed to fully blooming.]

To put it mildly, yes. I tend to carry seeds when I travel to cover worst case scenarios. I can make a tree grow from a seed to fruit-bearing within a day.

[Which was tremendously useful with some people's appetites with the guests at her birthday party. She grew a lot of the fruit and vegetables for the food herself so that they wouldn't have to dip in so much into the agricultural center.]

And I am a trainer. I've got twenty-one Pokemon on my team so far.

Some people have as many as thirty and are still expanding their teams. One of the things I'm researching is Pokemon evolutions, though, so bonding with a lot of Pokemon gives me the chance to observe that firsthand as I help them get stronger.

I'm documenting the evolutions of Pokemon of all different types. What they look like, any changes in elemental typing after evolution, the circumstances that lead them to evolving...those sorts of things. And some Pokemon aren't known to evolve at all.

[Pamela pauses and has to think about that for a moment. Anko might see her counting out on her fingers, silent and quick. After a few seconds, she gives Anko a definitive answer.]

Eighty-three.
