Climb every mountain, search high and low...
Who: Lenna Charlotte Tycoon, Aqua, Peter Parker, Hans Westergard, Kanji Tatsumi
What: Exploring the mountains
Where: Mountains, eventually leading to Coastal Valley
When: Some nebulous date during the current week that doesn't conflict with the Seeker expeditions or the Pokemon races
Warnings: None aside from the usual potential dangers in exploring new areas
[It's been several weeks, and Lenna has finally gotten approval from the Council to mount an expedition into the mountains to look for her father. Ironically, had Councilman Tycoon been here, she would probably have been able to get permission much faster, but then there wouldn't have been much of a reason for her to go at all.
She didn't really want to talk too much about her personal reasons for coming here when recruiting her group, but a few of them have likely guessed at them anyway. All the same, though, whatever their reasons, these five people have come together to bravely explore where few Unionites have gone before. Lenna is ready for whatever comes, new friends and new Pokemon at her side.]
All right... here we go. Everyone stay together - I don't know what we'll run into once we cross the peaks.

[Peter had Webster out, as a nice long length of webbing would do well as a rope in a pinch, and that wa something that was always good to have when climbing a mountain.]
Me neither, but that's half the fun of looking, isn't it?

[For the moment, Kanji's got two companions by his side; his Ampharos there as a loyal partner as ever, but trying to get in everyone's face is a Carbink of an eye-catching blue and black coloration. He goes to wave it back in-]
C'mon, you! - Uh. Gonna be interesting, huh?

Her three companions are all lingering above the group. Well, one is with the other two on his back. The Dragonair will occasionally floats down lower to the ground in order for the Gloom and Plusle on his back to consider jumping off. ]

[ Hans offers, encouragingly. He promised Lenna he'd help, of course. Councilman Tycoon was a family friend-- he'd known about his disappearance, so it wasn't too hard to put two and two together.
And of course, Hans is a great guy too, so naturally he's well prepared, leading his Rapidash by its reins. His Spritzee floats around nearby. ]
Who knows, we might find a village or something to bring back home!

[Lenna smiles, nodding at the others. And with her Dratini and her Hoppip at her side, she nostalgically begins to ascend the mountain path once again.]

At some point in time, they'll pass by where the entrance to the Iron Mines was originally found. No one had thought to continue beyond it from here... but there is indeed a traversable path.
This is where the uncharted wilderness really begins.]

[Webster facepalmed as best he could at the last question.]

[Speak for yourself, Kanji doesn't say.
He's a little overwhelmed, though, as he looks up the route ahead: sure, he's more than used to the track so far, was around here just the other day, but still...]
Path looks alright, though.

I'm sure Spero will let us know if he spots anything out of the ordinary. [ Flying above them did give the Dragonair more visibility then those walking. ]

Just think about how long it's been since any humans came this way...! I'm sure any pokemon we encounter will be surprised to see us.
no subject
Y-yes... I'm sure it's been...
[There's a short pause there.]
...a while.
[Though if her suspicions are correct, her father passed through this way not so long ago.]
Let's keep moving for now.
[Keeping an eye out, Lenna continues along ahead with the others.]

The deterioration of the areas no one ever goes to is almost immediately obvious as the well-trod trail more or less vanishes. They're faced with rocky crags and uneven footing; the mountain peaks are all practically indistinguishable after another hour.
Nearby, it seems like there's a natural path that seems to wind up the mountain - it doesn't seem to be winding the right direction, though... If they forge forward, they'll need to push through what appears to be a rocky field that might just drop off into a cliff, anyway. Or if any of them have highly evolved flying Pokemon, they can always just sequence break and skip all of this RPing nonsense.]
((As a note, since we didn't do this - did you guys want to stick to thread order or shall I just respond whenever I'm around?))

Once the group gets to the natural path, Aqua slows down on her pace. Something seemed off about it to her. ]
Does this path seem off to anyone?
OOC: works for me.
It doesn't look like it's in the direction we need it to, if that's what you mean.
We can follow it and hope it turns back the other way, or we could push through this mess [Peter gestured to the field] and hope it there's not a cliff on the other end of it. Maybe send your Dragonair to scout the path while I scout the rocks?
no subject
[Lenna frowns.]
Maybe we can find another way around. Climbing over all of this would be much too difficult.
no subject
Seriously. This ain't good. If we go this way, it's gonna be rough. If we look for another way around, how long's that gonna take? Though I can call Flick up, too, if we need another pair'f wings...
[He directs another remark at his Carbink, though.] - Oh, stop giving me that look, it's okay for you.
no subject
Spero, why don't you scout the path? Be quick about it though. [ The Dragonair simply brees in recognition of the suggestion and flies off about the path. ] If it does drop to a cliff, would we be able to all get over it?
no subject
But then, they are looking for a missing person lost in the mountains, after all. Or at least one of them is. It also might offer a useful vantage point for plotting their next move.
Any hypothetical cliffs would probably be difficult to cross without fliers or very strategic use of ropes.]

[Lenna frowns, craning her neck to try to see further down the path.]
We might not have much of a choice, though. This is the only way through right now unless we double back.
no subject
[ Hans chuckles a bit nervously. Yeah, not likely. ]
It might be a bit of a detour, but the path might be our best bet. It could be dangerous to continue forward past the cliffs, and at least through the path we'll be able to stay together.

[Don't gotta tell Lenna twice. The path may be rough going, but she doesn't want to find out what that noise just was, either.]
Stay together, everyone!
[And she will brashly head off down the path with her Dratini and Jumpluff following after.]

[Peter follows after, trying to jog his memory to see if he recognizes the cry.]
